I usually do off ball - on ball defense. When I see the paint wide open, I immediately control my bigs to protect the paint. Then I return to on ball defense or to the player being screened by their bigs. Matter of reading the plays, which i'm not a master of. Just having fun with the game.

MyCareer for me, they double me from tip off until the game is over. It doesn't matter if I get 20+ assist. They'll still double team the same exact way. Leaving whoever open. I am not seeing what the patch did w/ the double team logic. It's the exact same way as its been since 2K16. Except you can definitely pass out of them easier.

Nobody is exaggerating for drama. This has been well known for awhile now.

Yes, they double me from opening tipoff until the game is over. Been doing it since my first year.

I am a little bit disappointed after the patch.

The paint is still a joke in this game... When is 2k going to solve this issue where your AI teammates (specially bigs) leave opponents open close to the basket? That's not happening in the real world (not that often/easy)... in 2k basketball, it is the way to go for many cheesers, money go to play, specially after pick and rolls...

Mid range game has been reduced in my experience and I hate it, your not going to make a jumper now unless you are wide open, which is not going to happen in the mid range (not enough space). Step back/side jumpers are almost useless again (ala 2k16), what a pity...

This won't stop me playing this game anyway, but I am curious on why 2k never correct their main legacy issue (Paint scoring mainly) which is not a matter of the amount of points in the paint but the way to get them...

Cheers! ;-)

See that's why some folks are confused. This doesn't happen outside of my career mode.

People aren't specifying which mode they play so everyone is defending or criticizing this and everyone is ripping eachothers heads off because one party is saying it's horrible, and another is saying they don't see it.

Guys really have to specify which mode they play. This double team issue is definitely not happening for me offline against the ai in my league. It seems to be a my career only thing.

I agree 200% with the notion that people need to say what mode they're playing more often.

The frequency of the double team is a problem in MyCareer for sure. My playmaking SF was averaging 9 assists vs 1 turnover in 19 mins per game, before I took a break from it.

As soon as I come in the game & score a few buckets, the D sends the double & I just idle at the top of the key & make the easy passes.

The other complaint is just about how some double teams in 2K just don't make basketball sense. Like BaeBae32 said, you don't send a double team to the perimeter because someone is scoring bunches (send being the key word because it means someone is vacating a defensive assignment & creating a 4-on-3 disadvantage). I could understand trapping a 3pt shooter in the corner, because now the floor is shrunk & defenders have an opportunity to get back to their man if an unadvised lob pass comes out of the dbl. Also, pressuring the ball up the court, taking time off the clock, and as soon as the ball crosses the time line - send the double. That makes some logical basketball sense.

But sending a double to someone dribbling 24' away from the basket? Just dribbling outside of the arc, making no attempt to do anything other than dribble...and that's when it's time to vacate assignments and create a 4-3 mismatch...that's not basketball.

We need to get back to "don't play video games, play basketball"

Just a general feedback post patch and i have so many reasons that i can list but i will just say it here it goes..

Isnt this like 2k16 identical now ? And maybe even worse with so many OP offball/unnatural movements/contacts and worse ai adjustments and plays and freelances a lot worse than 2k16 and no natural anything and offbalancing within offense and between defense and offense. I mean..

Where are these supposed illegal screens meant to be? Just played a Pro Am game in which the other team did nothing but spam screens with 3 people around 2 sharpshooters the entire game and didn't see one illegal screen foul called?

It's nothing like it was last year where you had to actually time your screens. Add in Brick Wall badge and it kills any fun or skill in the game even after the patch.

Me and the person I was talking specifically mentioned MyCareer.

If he was talking about anything else or is confused that's on them or whoever else didn't fully read my post or the post above me.

Paint pass spamming is an on ball defense thing. People can zip the ball around wherever they want because the on ball defender has little to no effect on the type of pass a person can throw unlike in real life. Paint spamming would improve If 2k allowed for more deflections by the on ball defender or even just prevented some passes from being made when there is good pressure on the ball (to save the kids and casuals from themselves)

- Centers standing in the paint without guarding their man (they don't try to get between the basket and their man and instead just stand in front of him).
- Smart Play Button not working

Imho (for MyCareer) double teams are pretty common if you go on a run but passing out of them is way easier than in 2K16 and if your teammates score 1 or 2 times they will stop doing it. AT least in my experience so far.

Guys like you are the reason this game gets patched unnecessarily. How are guys stepping out of bounds a problem? It happens all the time in the NBA. And we all know this game needs as many non-steal turnovers as possible.

Well, I hadn't played this game since WWE 2K17 came out. I played yesterday, after that long over due patch, and I must say that shot percentages for both teams are very realistic now, mid to low 40's. But man, I am getting called for illegal screens like crazy!

But yeah, overall the game feels more balanced (difficult) for me.

On PS4.

I think they updated the player ratings. Klay Thompson is not on 90's anymore.

Anyone complaining about D look at my post #343. Compare that with this game. You will clearly see that the teams you're using matters, just as much as the team you're playing against. Which I love by the way. In the prior game I was able to play stingy D with OKC, and hold Sacramento to 88 points on 42% shooting. This game I couldn't get a stop for my life. But it felt so real because Houston is terrible on D and the Warriors, well are the Warriors on Offense. With that being said....

Our MyCareer players are barely 80 when you create them with the same attributes outside of MyCareer and you mean to tell me they are getting doubled from opening tip?

2K is getting really stingy with the VC.

# 379 DBMcGee3 @ 11/08/16 02:09 PM
I can understand people complaining about bugs and glitches, but i think we need to lower our expectations a bit in terms of ever seeing 100% realistic AI in any game. These guys are working for 2k Sports, not NASA.

Not that there aren't some legitimate gripes out there, but man, some of the complaints in these posts are comical.

# 380 GuwopGeezus @ 11/08/16 02:10 PM
So it was just a roster update and not a ratings update?
