Yea, but those doubles don't come with 12 seconds left on the shot clock near the 3pt line lol. Who waits that long to double on the perimeter? You're leaving someone wide open. It's one thing to pressure the ball up the court, & bring the double quickly to get the ball out of the hands of the primary handler. It's about disrupting offense, not giving them an easy peezy pass to someone.

If Kyrie is eating, then you put a bigger body on him, try to make his jumper more difficult & hopefully he drives the ball right into the interior help if he can't get the shot he wants, or he passes it. There's a chance he just cooks whoever is put on him, but you do not give up wide open shots to someone half way thru the shot clock.

It's not contextual defense, it's a trigger that "if player X scores or assists on X amount of points in X amount of time....do WHAT. EVER. it takes to stop player X. "

EDIT: Especially in a half-court set. It's one thing if people are wide open in transition, but dudes are borderline stationary for a few secs & still get a wide open shot. Not a clean look off of screen, or open in the corner because of a missed rotation.... just wide open shots because their defender ran to the top of the key to double someone.

That's.......bad.

Post-patch I've been having a great time with default HoF sliders with just a couple of tweaks. I'm not seeing much of the stuff everyone is complaining about at this point

I don't disagree with what you are saying in a real life situation. I think some nuance should be considered but whatever.

But to answer your question, NBA 2K waits that long because the userbase (us) complained about being double teamed once we cross half court...

Furthermore, there isn't a more capable defender or the game would actually put him on Kyrie. The game actually does have checks and will oftem put the best perimeter defender on the best perimeter player (if Kawhi was guarding the game likely wouldn't double team), but Kyrie was hot and ACE prioritized slowing his offense over the fear of Love knocking down a shot since he wasn't scoring (which happens all the time im the actual NBA when Kyrie gets hot or LeBron is doing work, which is why there was such a strong narrative about trading Love)

Now, I'm not saying what happened is preferred but of those plays I think only the Love 3 led to a bucket. I, as a person who plays this game, will take that. It's good defense when facing a superior offense and decisions have to be made.

Pre-rotate gets me roasted. I hate it. Haven't found a way to use it. I also avoid using gap with bigs as well.

Kyrie has 21 pts in the first half, while Kevin love has 6 or something. He then calls an iso for Kyrie, the game's leading scorer, which puts Love in the paint to allow Kyrie move to work. The defender is a weak defender and help comes to slow down or prevent Kyrie from scoring (again). Kyrie passes to Love and Embiid, or whomever, immediately closes out which forces Love to pass or put up a contested shot. This leads to another contested shot and a miss. LeBron gets the rebound and gets a foul.

That's just the first set he showed and that's good defense. The offense wasn't able to burn the perimeter defense due to the help defense and the paint protection contested the shot both times.

The only bad defense in the video is the J. R. shot and thats because the defense broke down due to back hedging and poor defense. The defender on Smith came over to stop Kyrie, who is currently the game's leading scorer.

The Love 3 was good defense because the defense was looking to protect the paint since LeBron was on the elbow with Anderson. That defender can not stop LeBron amd a decision had to be made on who helped, which is why the defender rotated off of Love. It was good defense against phenomenal offense.

I'll just kindly end this and say I strongly disagree with your assessment and again, do NOT think that video resembles anything near real NBA basketball. Whether or not 2K is trying to use their defensive logic to accomplish what you're saying doesn't really matter if the final outcome makes no sense in comparison to a real game. IMO.

Game """feels""" better.

Still think double teams shouldnt be about getting the ball out of the hands of someone standing beyond the arc. You generally only see double teams/traps as they are represented in 2K on 2 occasions in real life:
1) On the use of the ball screen you would trap the ball when it is in the hands of someone like Curry
2) You double the post to force a pass
Again what you do not see is someone trapping the ball outside of the arc while it is idly being dribbled. That is asking to be scored on.

Think 2K would be better off going away from "doubling the ball" when someone is hot and going the way of representing the way teams zone up the defense behind the primary defender.

Just look at the way the Warriors defend Westbrook. They stack the paint and force him to either score through a myriad of help defenders as he drives into the paint or kick it out to his teammates. What they do not do is force him to pass the ball while he is dribbling beyond the 3 point line.

In short, it shouldnt be about "double team" logic instead 2K really needs to focus on the "help defender" logic.

Definitely agree there.

You can't really be defending the double teaming logic overall on this game. I refuse to believe that.

Good choice of wording regarding the rebounds. That pretty much sums it up.

I was fine paying for VC if that money was going towards better functionality and a better product. But theres glitches like its 2k11 or something, yeesh. I think some of you dont realize this is a forum where raw feedback should be what you want, not censorship. Ya theres noobs who give noob/user error type feedback, which is why all feedback should be taken with grain of salt and contrasted with real basketball logic. But broad brushing all fans who criticize the game as entitled "whiners" is just as bad as saying "waa this game sux" and not being specific.

I mean I get where your coming from 110%. I wasn't attempting to call out of anyones comments here for NOT being justified. We're all justified here. From what I read from most of everyone's post each and everyone of you have come up with strong valid reasons to be upset. Some people extended upon great detail to describe potential problems to get fixed. While others remain vague among specifics they are trying to make.

Am I 100% satisfied with this years product? Definitely not, I believe they regressed and back tracked from the path they were beginning to go down. But overall I see it as a video game and have learned just to deal with it.

I played basketball competitively for many years, and still continue to do so. I understand the game in its entirety. The clean experience you spoke up lacks greatly because the logic in this game is awful more than sometimes haha. You got valid points, and if my comment seem to come off like I was calling out others that's my bad. I was just stating for my records I can finally play this game as mainly a offline player. I'm hoping for everybody they are able to find something they can enjoy about this game. And if not, unfortunately just got to chalk it up as a L and move onto something else sadly.

Post-release shoes will now dynamically appear in your game mode saves when starting a new mode or when using a custom roster created after October 15th.

Am I reading this correctly...would I need to restart MyCareer in order for new post-release shoes to appear?

# 355 jyoung @ 11/08/16 02:48 AM
I feel like the refs are calling way too many blocking fouls now in My Team Online whenever the on-ball defender uses the left trigger to cut off a dribbler on the perimeter.

I'm seeing around 5 to 10 blocking calls per game if you combine both teams' blocking fouls.

It's happening to CPU defenders and human defenders; I haven't noticed any bias there with the reffing.

It's hard enough to play on-ball defense online with the input lag and the sluggishness of the lateral slides compared to the explosiveness of the dribble launches. And this increase in blocking fouls just made on-ball defense a ton harder to play.

# 356 loso_34 @ 11/08/16 03:24 AM
lol folk cried about fouls and now this game is back to bumper carts. purchased this thursday and anytime i was hip checked on a fast break it was a foul.

but of course its back to 2k16's bumper carts smh.

I guess most of the bugs doesn't happen to me because I have no foul bug with my 2k17 I must be one of the lucky guys

My main issues are the things that are really broken:

- The fast breaks (stopping at the 3pt line with clear path to the basket for players that are not Steph)
- Getting bumped out of bounds on the baseline (applies mainly to AI ball handler vs AI defender)
- Centers standing in the paint without guarding their man (they don't try to get between the basket and their man and instead just stand in front of him).
- Smart Play Button not working

Imho (for MyCareer) double teams are pretty common if you go on a run but passing out of them is way easier than in 2K16 and if your teammates score 1 or 2 times they will stop doing it. AT least in my experience so far.

# 359 Jrocc23 @ 11/08/16 05:42 AM
Really? They'll stop after you get a few assist? I've never heard someone say that.

MyCareer for me, they double me from tip off until the game is over. It doesn't matter if I get 20+ assist. They'll still double team the same exact way. Leaving whoever open. I am not seeing what the patch did w/ the double team logic. It's the exact same way as its been since 2K16. Except you can definitely pass out of them easier.
