Very satisfied with Patch 1.05 and the new sliders. Not perfect, but I feel the game is playing better for me.

Driving to the basket and Post-Play

- (Driving) I personally feel like this is so much better. I can "realistically beat most defenders with a good offensive player (for example, Kyrie), and CPU defender rotations seem to work well enough to contest or slow down a drive to the basket. There are some plays where I get my defender off-balance and get a good break to the basket, and some where I get stuffed and have to look for other options.

- The good news is the off-ball CPU defenders seems to recognize their matches a bit more - e.g. they don't readily rotate off players with the ability to score well. I was playing the Kings, and drove with Russell and Hayward was the only defender in play who could make a play on the ball. He chose to stay with Ingram on the wing to defend the corner three. I liked seeing that. I am also seeing the same things from CPU with regards to driving. I tried pressing Gay with Ingram, and was getting smoked. Had to play looser and force him into jumpshots. Was actually fun.

- (Post play) I like it. Big and strong players feel big and strong for user and CPU. Great post players feel great. CPU defense is biting on fewer pump fakes, and looking to draw more fouls or fight their way to the rim. Overall, this feels, to me, to have been improved without sucking players into animations.

PNR Screens (my biggest issue since I love the Randle-Ingram PNR)

- (Offensively) a bit more effective (Also, I realized that if I hold the screen button for the player I'm calling until I use the screen it's more effective. I don't know if this is a bit of confirmation bias, but I figured I'd mention it to see if anyone else felt the same.)

- (Defensively) I feel like I'm not getting sucked into screening animations or bumped away from shot contest as much which is fine for me.

Defensive Rotations

- More fluid

- In my experience (3 games since patch) good defenders are much better and there is a clear divergence between a good defender and a bad defender, which I like. My highly rated defenders are switching well, and keeping track of their man, while my lower rated defenders sometimes get lost in the shuffle. I personally like that. I want Tony Allen to play very differently from Kyrie on the defensive end, and I feel like I'm seeing that more.

- Low post defense finally feels like it matters. Contesting a shot > Block attempt after patch 1.05 since it doesn't leave you out of position as often. (Seriously, pressing Y or Tri like a crazy person allowed the Kings to go on a 16-6 run on me because of pump fakes and up-n-unders. Once I started contesting those shots with my rim protector I was able to get their % at the rim to around 65%) Great offensive players (Cousins) still score and draw fouls and rebounders (Gobert / Adams) still rebound but I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

- Perimeter shot contest work great in my opinion. Great players make difficult shots at a reasonable pace and bad players don't. I feel like I can impact them now which was one of my criticisms with Beluba's previous slider set.

- However, defensive players still don't recognized when they are being screens during off-ball AI moment (an issue Phamgod highlighted previously). The good news is that players seem to get "Caught" less on these screens and fight over/under them slightly better. But I'd like my players to be a bit more aware during off-ball movement.

Offensive Off-Ball Movement and Screens

- I use three plays to test this because they require a lot of coordination, off-ball screens, and they are quick: Quick 1 Elevator, Quick Hawk 2, and Quick 2 x 3. I feel like both are significantly faster and players, while they do get caught, can break away from their defenders and prioritize setting screens and getting to their spots. It's not perfect but it is definitely much better. I try not to use more complex plays because sometimes they take forever to run, but I will as I get more comfortable.

- Players are setting really decent off-ball screens which are giving my shooters space to make shots. Great screeners make a huge difference now from what I can tell. Good defenders will fight through them and make your days difficult, but, to me, it feels like it makes sense most of the time.

Fastbreaks (not enough experience to fully commit to an opinion)

- Marginally better but I don't want to fully commit to a specific comment because I've seen flashes of great fastbreaks. I was playing the Kings in my 2nd MyLeague season, and Teague (their PG) caught a long rebound and ran the break. Couldn't catch him. A few plays later I had a good rebound and went coast to coast with a guy. I think USER Acceleration should be bumped in the sliders a bit. But for now, fastbreaks LOOK better but I'm not feeling like they are better.

Shot Timing

- Still sometimes feel really random. There are plays where I'm wide open and the player's shot timing seems to take forever. Then there are players where I'm wide open and the shot comes out so damn fast I end up with "Super Late Release, You Idiot" with shot feedback. Maybe it's me, but if anyone can shine light on what I may be experiencing I'd appreciate it.

I'm sure there are other areas I can speak to but I am trying to be as clear as possible with the main things.

I agree is not sim but what they present is like parody of basketball/streetball, one guy who happens to be sharpshooter dribble left right and goes way back almost halfcourt and splashes trey like a 3ft midrange jumper. Meanwhile my slasher PG who is tailored to reflect Westbrooks playstyle cant hit three to save his life.

Furthermore stretch bigs hitting treys however they want: standing, moving, leaning i even saw fadeaway treys with good shot defense.

Conclusion: One who happens to be sharpshooter/stretch big can win games with zero skill on the other hand other archetypes must work their a**es off to win a game.

Hey Devs! a serious bug I just noticed I was playing against the Mavericks and Andrew Bogut foul out and the cpu never substituted him out the game he stayed in and played and even scored...I hope this was just a fluke so I paused it went to the cpu and yep he had 6 fouls and never got subtitued.... Huge bug!!!!!

Ah, I thought I was bugging out when this happened to me with Demarcus Cousins. He had 2 fouls in the first, and the AI subbed him out. Then he came in during the 2Q and picked up 2 more quick fouls and wasn't subbed out again until the end of fourth like the AI rotations dictate. He fouled out in the 3Q because why WOULDN'T I attack the other team's best player who happens to be in foul trouble.

Then I restarted the game to see if I could recreate the phenomena. I could.

# 306 tyberious4now @ 11/07/16 02:47 PM
Here's a follow up after 6 fouls the cpu didn't substitute right away after several minutes they called a timeout and Bogut didn't come back in......*That's the bug no immediate substition after you foul out*!!!

double team logic is still trash

# 309 de_jesus @ 11/07/16 03:35 PM
Far as I can tell that was a good double team. You were controlling the ball with a player with 21 & 23 points in ONE half and you pushed the ball to a guy who had significantly fewer points. You have an average defender on a GREAT ball handler and you're clearly knocking down shots. You passed the ball to Love and the defense IMMEDIATELY closed out which is why you passed, missed the shot, and got the foul. That is a good defensive possession. I would take that play all day. Send LeBron to the line as a ~75% shooter over Kyrie continuing to kill my defenders. Hell yeah.

That's just playing percentages. The game still wants to stop the guy with the hot hand. It may not be the best but that's a pretty good double team.

The J.R. Smith thing was a rotation / PNR issue. Since your defender had not come over the screen and there was no hedge the AI thought your BEST shooter was uncovered for a split second and was willing to leave a guy with 3 pts in the half wide open. Why? Because Kyrie is killing them.

What I see:

1. The defense is pressing your best player half-way through the shot clock and willing to leave cold players (guys who aren't scoring) on an island. Personally, I can live with that.

2. You're running the offense through the best scorer who is on pace for what seems like a career night, and your teammates don't seem to be contributing much to your win. J.R., Love, and James all seemed to have fewer than 10 points and were largely standing around waiting on your iso. Why wouldn't the game double team.

3. You're taking advantage of poor defenders. Poor defenders need help which is why they are poor defenders. If you're across from Kawhi the defense doesn't usually send a double team until you try to back him down.

4. The only really bad one was the Kevin Love 3 with the double on LeBron. The game expected you to try to drive and was willing to leave Anderson to Embiid, which is why the rotation worked so well. That is a play Cleveland actually takes advantage of all the time because it's tremendously hard to guard. No one on the Sixers can guard Lebron on the elbow so the defense had to make a decision, and it chose to protect the paint, which means leaving Love makes the most sense if you want to protect the paint.

As far as I'm concerned that's not really a good example of bad double teaming save for the final clip where the rotation makes sense because you happen to put the defense in a bad position with LeBron at the elbow. This is just watching a good team with great offensive players take advantage of a bad team with poor defensive players.

I don't think that's bad defense. I mean that is just one of the many defensive schemes in the game. You see 2K talked to 28 NBA Teams and some teams have their own logic. I bet if you played the Cavs vs. Lakers the double team will probably happen in a different way.

You have to know the personnel and defensive sets to understand this complex system with its many schemes. There is a wealth of information and dynamic decision making that is going on, I think you should submit this video to BBallBreakDown for analysis. I bet he will show you why the doubleteam is coming from those players.

Been happening since the game released. Usually only happens when you go from Park to a MyCareer game. But it's been rare times it has happened to me without even going to the park. After closing the app and clearing reserve space, I haven't had the issue since.

Ha. I'm not saying the double team logic isn't bad because it is BUT I do see nonsensical stuff like that IRL all the time. So you could see it as realistic...

Before I begin this post I just wanted to say that I do think that this game is a good game and that I appreciate the hard work that the developers put into this game this year, especially with the swiftness of the patches and tuning updates. With that being said, this post I feel will express the issues that many have with this game but many don't have the time nor patience to write about.

First off I want to start off with the defense. Now as many as you know, the defense this year has always seemed to be a bit shaky, with players feeling as though they are moving in cement or quick sand at times, even with highly rated defensive players. This issue seems to have been magnified with this new patch. I can't speak for everyone in the community, but it feels as though this unresponsiveness on defense has gotten even worse. I've played games with and against lockdown defenders before and after this new patch and I almost have to ask myself, "what is the point?". These players still move around very slow on defense at times and there seems to be very little impact that their defensive prowess has on the person their guarding, especially if their sharpshooters or shot creators. This them leads to my next issue... the offense.

Yes, we all know and have read the complaints about the shooting pre-patch 5 about shooting being OP, and that I completely agree with. However, although sharpshooters and stretch bigs were OP, at the very least other archetypes (unfortunately besides slashers) were also able to have some success. I for example became very fond using my shot creator, and spent many days learning how to most effectively use the archetype and have success in park and pro-am. And was also refreshing to see more users beginning to use more archetypes as it appeared (at least for me) that more people were learning that their are other archetypes besides playmakers and sharpshooters/stretch bigs that could also be very effective. Unfortunately however with this new patch, that has all changed. I can only speak from my own personal experience so far based upon the game I've played, but I can effectively say that sharpshooters and stretch bigs are back to being the most effective and OP archetypes in the game. Yes, they are always OP it seems. But at least before this new patch people could be successful offensively with other archetypes. Not anymore.

I am still seeing sharpshooters and stretch bigs making 30 ft shots consistently EVEN with good contests from the defense. These issues are compounded further with the defensive issues that I just touched on in this post. Furthermore, it seems that shot creators are effectively done with this new patch. Again, this could just be me but based upon the shots I am taking and was taking with shot creator, I can not even use the archetype as it is advertised. I have pretty much become a watered down sharpshooter at this point. If I even take a semi-contested moving shot with my defender having an extremely late contest WITH all my HOF badges and a 94 moving shots rating, it's a brick, even with the meter being as close to full as possible. The only shots that I can rely upon to make are wide open moving shots, and at the point I may as well use my sharpshooter since he can do that about 10 times better than my shot creator. I can't fully say how other archetypes are affected by this new patch but I can safely assume that sharpshooters and strectch bigs are back as the only consistently affect builds to use (besides playmakers).

Last point I want to make is on the grind for my career. All I have to say is why. For those that don't know or don't realize it, it takes about 10 practices with you having the doing work meter full to get an attribute upgrade. Now that may not seem too bad, but to put in further perspective, you only get about 4 practices after completing a game (assuming that you only have 1 off day following). So it will take at least 2 games to get an attribute upgrade, and that is assuming that you ONLY go to practices and ignore connections and endorsements that may have conflict with these practices. So it would take you at least entire season to get the attribute upgrades. To add to this sheer number of practices that must be completed, you also have to take into account the absolutely daunting loading times that you must deal with just to get in and out of practices; having to wait for your teammates to ask if you want to do a drill a play a pick up game before you can even head to the weight room. And let me tell you guys this, before this past patch I did the glitch where you can get to off days without playing a game by spamming the circle button in order to get those 25 upgrade. Let me tell you that it took me an entire weekend of simply heading in and out of these practices to get all those upgrades WITHOUT playing a single game. So I can only imagine how long it would take having to play at least 10 minutes of a game before getting those off days.

And I know many of you are thinking, "okay, so what, just play a season on 5 minute quarters to get all those upgrades." Now this point I would not dispute if playing my career was actually fun. It is not. Actually, it is miserable. Getting unrealistic scores, having teammates that can play absolutely idiotic, getting double teamed as soon as you touch the ball in the first or second quarter, and being forced to play on hall of fame to even have a chance of earning enough vc to upgrade your player and/or get accessories, dribble moves, etc. It is not a fun experience. I think I can safely assume that once most players finished getting all the badges/attribute bars for their player they never touched a game of my career again. At least I know I have. If the game isn't fun, then what is the point? You pretty much have to torture yourself into getting through my career games just to be able to have a competent enough player to go online with.

The last thing I am going to say before ending this post is that I feel that many, if not most of the issues that I have outlined are a result of top executives of 2k wanting users to be forced into buying VC to maximize profit. I could be wrong, but the the evidence in the game proves otherwise. Anyways I'm done ranting. Thanks for anyone that read through this entire post. And maybe I'm wrong and I just need some more time to adjust to the game. But I don't know at this point. But what I do know is that I pretty much lost interest in this game and am now playing Battlefield when I have free time to play on my ps4.

That's concerning. If you haven't already, report that stat in the bug and glitches thread stickied at the top of the forums with as much information as you can provide. That's the best place to stick it until we have a dev sighting somewhere else where we can inform them of the issue.

Appreciate the roster update but now we need an update on playbooks and ratings. I play with the Lakers so this is a big deal for me. Their defensive ratings could use an improvement and their playbook still reflects Byron Scott's terrible offense and not the motion offense that Luke runs. I'm sure there are other teams that could use the same changes.

As strictly an offline player, this patch has exceeded expectations. I didn't feel like I was playing any resemblance of basketball before and now I'm loving every minute of it. All I can say is thank you 2k and please, please DONT CHANGE the GAMEPLAY AGAIN with another patch, you're not going to get much better than this.

Damn .. how did you manage to get the CPU to take only 80 shots on 12 minute quarters.

I've never encountered that before. The CPU always drop at least 100 attempts on me. I have to play 10 minute quarters to get a more realistic score - even post-patch.

I know this won't be significant to most folks and it does seem a bit picky, but have they subdued the lighting for the Lakers games at Staples Centre?
