EA Sports UFC 2 News Post

Geoff Harrower, A.K.A. GameplayDevUFC, has been posting quite a few details on the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2 patch on his Twitter page. While no date for the patch has been revealed, he has posted quite a few nuggets. Check out some of them below and let us know what you think!
  • Punches in single collar clinch will no longer interrupt transitions
  • Increased counter window after denied clinch attempt
  • Added counter damage bonus after denied clinch attempt
  • Reduced the damage of Thai knees slightly
  • Fixed bug so you can now deny a clinch attempt during the follow through of your strike
  • Added new logic to control when different strike types can interrupt a takedown
  • Fixed bug that made takedowns in some clinch positions too easy, and others too hard
  • Added new grapple momentum scenarios to a few ground and clinch transitions
  • Gave fighters who have the sitout sweep in sprawl the option to also perform the half guard escape
  • Tuned the submissive fighter's escape from back mount to half guard to be a bit more difficult
  • Changed the inputs for submission reversals on the ground to be L2+R2 to fix exploits and enforce pre-emptive denial penalty
  • Punish the defender in a submission for defending a chain before it appears by taking away some defensive progress
  • Pushing in the wrong direction to deny submission chain blocks the defending fighter from pushing in the correct direction
  • AI will now use submission reversals
  • Some fighter AI's tuned to use submissions and takedowns more or less as appropriate to their real life counterparts
  • Blocking and stamina management improvements for pro AI
This post will get updated as more details are revealed.

Well to be fair, the voting took place more than a year after UFC 1 was out and even hardcore fans (such as myself ) weren't really active on the forums and missed the vote

Most of them have done a good job though, but if they ever do GCers again for UFC 3 (or fight night ) I hope the community would be able to have a fresh election cycle lol

I have a feeling a few of the best would definitely be re-voted as GCers (if they volunteered) but some fresh blood/perspectives would be nice, too

My fighting style is pressure standup and defensive wrestling to keep it on the feet. My ground game is ok not great. Good enough to get back to my feet or get a sub, but not good enough to smother.(not so I care to).

I'm currently in div 6. I've won several belts with my longest defense being about 4 or 5. Nearly every time I've lost the belt it's been to clinch. I'd even say 90%-95% of my losses are to the clinch. Lol

I'm ecstatic about this news. Lol

I have no inside information but I dont think that they are going to force the current gamechangers to be "reelected" especially when some of them (including me) were never elected. I have a feeling that some of them may not come back and will need to be replaced and they may add a few more though.

Also, why aren't there more moveset changes where there are so many needed changes? I don't like how we have to make a super visible thread for them to react, why not get a guy to do all of that? Don't you want to make a better game devs? Why do we need to pour our hearts out like an annoying girlfriend for you to do something for the better? Conor has a flying knee and spinning back fists ffs, and they are very very effective for him, give those to only those who use them IRL to make fighters feel more unique please, we already don't have a lot of striking animations as it is so make the most out of them so they'll still somehow feel fresh
Moveset changes arent that high priority at this point and based on their actions the devs are more interested in adding moves that fighters are missing than removing strikes that have already been assigned to fighters.

I also dont think the movesets are ever going to be hyper realistic. They werent in the Undisputed series and they arent likely to do it here. Especially when the goal of the game is to be fun and not a unforgiving simulation of the game. Plenty of fans are happy that Conor can do a spinning back fist (which isnt that unrealistic given that he attempts spin moves often).

Well --- it sounds as if the Live Event is still going to end early next week --- and I figure they'll have at least the weekend for the LEC --- so I'm thinking patch drops tomorrow or Friday (?) but no confirmation yet as far as I can tell

Thanks, I'm pumped to try this patch out. I'm really hoping two things happen.

1) I can enjoy playing the AI for once

2) The online becomes a little less exploitable.

I'm interested to see what you guys think of what I feel is the significant AI change on Pro in this patch. I'll let GPD do the patch spoilers (or i can discuss it after the patch) but the I'm hopeful that this one change will help make the Pro difficulty harder.

With that said, I havent played the game with the patch yet so who knows how effective it is.

These are probably the changes skynet said he put in for the up coming patch before he went on vacation.

Yep but I'm not sure he mentioned the one I'm thinking of and thats why I havent said it.

I dont want to hype it up that much because its a small change when you read it on paper. I'm just hoping that it results in better defensive AI.

When will the patch drop and who are the added fighters? They are my biggest interest.

So now I can elaborate.

One of the biggest issues I had with pro AI was that it didnt use high block enough and regularly allowed a human to get free shots to the face even if it wasnt doing anything.

The amount the AI blocks on Pro has been significantly increased. So it will force you to mix up strikes more and counter more. The Pro Ai will be more defensive when its no0t striking.

Ya but you and me know the main issue is stamina... So that needs to be fixed for everything to maybe hopefully run smooth.

I hope there are more stamina tweaks.
