EA Sports UFC 2 News Post

Geoff Harrower, A.K.A. GameplayDevUFC, has been posting quite a few details on the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2 patch on his Twitter page. While no date for the patch has been revealed, he has posted quite a few nuggets. Check out some of them below and let us know what you think!
  • Punches in single collar clinch will no longer interrupt transitions
  • Increased counter window after denied clinch attempt
  • Added counter damage bonus after denied clinch attempt
  • Reduced the damage of Thai knees slightly
  • Fixed bug so you can now deny a clinch attempt during the follow through of your strike
  • Added new logic to control when different strike types can interrupt a takedown
  • Fixed bug that made takedowns in some clinch positions too easy, and others too hard
  • Added new grapple momentum scenarios to a few ground and clinch transitions
  • Gave fighters who have the sitout sweep in sprawl the option to also perform the half guard escape
  • Tuned the submissive fighter's escape from back mount to half guard to be a bit more difficult
  • Changed the inputs for submission reversals on the ground to be L2+R2 to fix exploits and enforce pre-emptive denial penalty
  • Punish the defender in a submission for defending a chain before it appears by taking away some defensive progress
  • Pushing in the wrong direction to deny submission chain blocks the defending fighter from pushing in the correct direction
  • AI will now use submission reversals
  • Some fighter AI's tuned to use submissions and takedowns more or less as appropriate to their real life counterparts
  • Blocking and stamina management improvements for pro AI
This post will get updated as more details are revealed.

well every patch that came the game changed for better, when they put referee stand up, an new sistem of combo(i like those guys idea just take alway some combos from multiplier) and stop the freezing after u get parried... i think the game will be tuned enought, than just fixing minor bugs and putting fighters

I'll put my bet on a version 1.10 around Labor Day

but that'll probably be the last one --- perhaps not but I figure by then they'll be 100% focused on next game (fingers crossed)

Agreed, but as GPD said, the LEC showed that the game is almost perfect in terms of balance. That is all they need to achieve. I don't disagree either. There are no exploits that I know of. So they will only really need to patch maybe fighters in?

Actually I felt that the LEC showed some imbalances or at least weird quirks when fighters had exact same stats (especially on the ground) --- hopefully they took notice on a couple of these

Something felt weird for sure, but it could have been the mode itself. Mirror matches have the exact same stats. The equalizing might do something, but that would be in that mode only.

GPD I know you probaly can't answer this but last patch you guy did some minor fixes with the refs, are there any more small fixes you guys did on refs or stand up timer for the refs in certain spots?

Thanks.

^ I would also like to know if standing tkos have been looked into as well with refs coming in and stopping the fight

What is LEC short for?

edit: google term search showed up live event competition that would make sense I guess.

I didn't. A few of them are actually great - there's a few I really don't care for that should be impeached (Bird, Game). Not that I think they're bad people, I just think their contributions aren't there and one has abandoned the game entirely.

The other has incessantly whined since release. Not great examples of game changers in my opinion.

Superstoked the momentum transitions are game changing, never knew about them.

I won the OFC heavyweight championship belt with one recently.

Whenever you're takendown into side control (slam or trip) you can get a speed boost on your next transition. I D'arced the guy after he slammed Nog into sidecontrol.

This guy I beat had just beaten the best guy on this game Stan Smith FR to get the title so I was shocked I upset him.

Very useful! Congrats man
Now I need to find a way to defend pressure.. heavy pressure against me and my mind starts to scramble and I become a panic fighter

I fully agree with this.

A few thoughts:
-Not really liking all the clinch nerfs, if anything, I'd like to get an uppercut from single collar whip, both for the mixup, and for approximating real life. That's probably more of a UFC 3 sort of thing, though
-Love the takedown tweaks if it works as advertised
-Ground tweaks look solid, especially the back mount one

Here's hoping my Nate Marquardt suggestions get noticed...

(Spin backfist, power hand elbow, flying knee to moveset)

Thats funny you say Nate Marquardt, I just won a ranked championship title with him beating a Luke Rockhold with a rear naked choke to arm bar in the 1st round!

So a nice update is fine with me...

Clinch punches having health event potential is very important for balance. If you notice the most common clinch combo (and often first goto) is elbow to heavy knee for it's health event hit reaction.

I feel this is an artificial unintended consequence. I don't mind this as much as the lack of the same for clinch punches which in all honesty you seem occur much more frequently in MMA fights.
