EA Sports UFC 2 News Post

Geoff Harrower, A.K.A. GameplayDevUFC, has been posting quite a few details on the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2 patch on his Twitter page. While no date for the patch has been revealed, he has posted quite a few nuggets. Check out some of them below and let us know what you think!
  • Punches in single collar clinch will no longer interrupt transitions
  • Increased counter window after denied clinch attempt
  • Added counter damage bonus after denied clinch attempt
  • Reduced the damage of Thai knees slightly
  • Fixed bug so you can now deny a clinch attempt during the follow through of your strike
  • Added new logic to control when different strike types can interrupt a takedown
  • Fixed bug that made takedowns in some clinch positions too easy, and others too hard
  • Added new grapple momentum scenarios to a few ground and clinch transitions
  • Gave fighters who have the sitout sweep in sprawl the option to also perform the half guard escape
  • Tuned the submissive fighter's escape from back mount to half guard to be a bit more difficult
  • Changed the inputs for submission reversals on the ground to be L2+R2 to fix exploits and enforce pre-emptive denial penalty
  • Punish the defender in a submission for defending a chain before it appears by taking away some defensive progress
  • Pushing in the wrong direction to deny submission chain blocks the defending fighter from pushing in the correct direction
  • AI will now use submission reversals
  • Some fighter AI's tuned to use submissions and takedowns more or less as appropriate to their real life counterparts
  • Blocking and stamina management improvements for pro AI
This post will get updated as more details are revealed.

Submission reversals from single and double leg takedowns as well as the guillotine catch from sprawl and kneebar catch from half guard back sitting, now require both triggers to execute??

No, only the guillotine catch from sprawl SUB getup and the kneebar from half guard back sitting.

Takedown reversals behave the same as before.

This was done to fix the fact that the sub reversals could be preloaded with no penalty making them way OP.

Now they behave the same as a regular denial, but with the submission modifier to make it a submission reversal.

GPD, was stamina adjusted for human players too or just AI?

Thanks for clarifying it's ground only. I was about to inquire about the single leg reversal to top position defense that uses the LT.

BTW, with this fix for the sub reversals, the addition of the half guard escape for everyone, and the GA build up introduced a couple of patches ago, I think sprawl will finally be in a really good place.

Interested in feedback on that theory once the patch drops.

AI only and they arent stamina adjustments. The issue on Pro AI is that the AI managed its stamina poorly. It would throw long combos even if it was low on stamina and sometimes even if the human opponent was out of reach.

The change is regarding how the AI manages its stamina.

Sigh why hasn't this patch dropped yet

Both Microsoft and Sony have to approve it and put it in when they update their stores. I'm thinking tomorrow. I thought yesterday because that is another day they do store updates.

I've been saying bring back shifts, switch and step through strikes, with things going into this much detail I'm sure that can be looked into as well. I thought that function would be improved upon dramatically for eaufc2 not removed all together, especially considering how prominent it has become in MMA now.

I wonder if this will be addressed in future patches.

I said this in a different thread but I'll say it here to...

The only thing i can maybe see them adding later down the line in a patch is a "Standing TKO" if you hold head block to long during a health event or just when your head is peak red.

I wish they would add this though...

# 276 johnmangala @ 06/01/16 06:50 PM
That goes with ref stoppages, I would like that included along with TDs against the cage and mount guards. The cage interaction necessarily has a lot of depth that has room to be patched up.

Expanding upon already present functions seem pretty reasonable like standing arm traps, head traps through manually holding punches out, and return of shift/switch/and step through strikes

edit: Most important being adding health events to clinch punches & parries (hooks and uppercuts both in sub & dom MT and SC) for realism and balance.

Pushing in the wrong direction to deny submission chain blocks the defending fighter from pushing in the correct direction #patchspoilers

I don't understand what this mean. Can anybody here explain to me its meaning, easily?

Peoole were exploiting the defense of submission switches by rotating the L stick constantly.

But the LEC starts on Friday.

Today is Wednesday.

You do the math...

I kind of figured that, there seems to be a patch drop around Wednesday or Thursday when the spoilers drop, plus the LEC starts soon. 1+1=2 on this one pretty much. lol
