NBA 2K16 News Post

As mentioned earlier today, the NBA 2K16 patch #6 has already arrived for PlayStation 4 users, weighing in at 2.4GB. As soon as we get the patch notes, we will update this post. Until then, let us know what you are seeing.

Xbox One users will see the patch later, no official ETA has been given.

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.
  • Updated player portraits for a number of players.
  • Tuned the effectiveness of long outlet passes for players with the Break Starter badge.
  • Delay branching from Kobe Bryant Back size-up.
  • Re-worked size-up dribble launches to prevent unnaturally explosive first steps.
  • Tune miss chances for deep downcourt and cherry picking.
  • Dock vertical and rebounding when you go behind the basket. Don’t reset 3-in-the-key offense timer in baseline behind paint for human controlled blacktop players.
UPDATE #2: The patch has arrived for Xbox One users.

UPDATE #3 (5-19): The patch is now available for PC users.

Considering I had just switched I was a Rookie 1 and it was funny hearing the Legend surprised at how well I was doing.

Somehow we won all 3 games I played with them, even though they just kept jacking 3s. I was open literally the entire time down low (7 foot 1 Center) but they just kept running around shooting. I was hoping this patch would get these guys to hit me more in the post but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Really need to group up with some dudes from here.
I'll add you, I am at Sunset.

Post patch I have noticed a huge influx of Sim players at the park. I've beat plenty of high ranking players with a squad that's below avarage (Like on the clips) because of the fact that they can distribute the ball.

Dribbling is not dead, set and read your defenders position properly and cross accordingly. You can either shoot if you're open or pass to the open guy, it's not that hard. There's no need to exploit and and try excessively to create your own shot. It's selfish and only "FUN" for you.

Dribbling ain't dead.

Does this patch affect offline users? So far I can't tell a difference at all. Thanks

I stopped playing park because a group of 3 point guards can beat my squad (with me as center) just off my matchup spamming iso moves and hesitations on me.

Even as a small forward they could get an inch of space and hit.

Now usually only "good" (lol yea) players could do this. Because I'm a god on defense and I'll lock up most guards even as my center.

Hopefully this garbage can be gone. Doing them left right back and forth moves over and over should easy to guard...considering there's a reason NBA players aren't actually doing it lol.

I'm starting to like this patch a lot . Good job 2k!

Man we, PC players, are dying to get this patch. It's like cheesers are speed boosting even more now that they know their days are counted.

So true. If 2K could at least give us some info, but there is virtually nothing about this patch coming to PC, which is pretty frustrating.

I cannot BELIEVE some of the comments I'm seeing in here. This is what the community has turned too? Yall are really mad at them for making the game more realistic. That's crazy as hell for real, cause isn't this what the nba 2k franchise was built on, realism? Man, lemme address the bull I'm seeing in this thread.

Dudes talking about the game is too slow now? I feel like the game now has "weight" to it. Players aren't just zig zagging and twitching all over the court now. Play seems organized, with a purpose instead of 10 guys just huddling around in a crowd on the court. I can see plays develop, players moving to a spot, actual basketball being played and dudes are mad about this? There is a noticeable speed difference between PLAYERS now for sure. I can tell who's fast and who's not, and I can really get to the rim with those fast guys, and yall are mad about this? Come on ..

As far as a faster playing blowing by a defender, either yall aren't using the players with this skill, or you haven't the stick skills to pull this off. I was crossing fools up with Durant, spinning around them effortlessly to the rack. A quick hesitation move and blow by with Westbrook and I was slamming it at will. Are yall trying to just cross over and blow by with every player you control? Do you even run plays? Sometimes just running a play is the best way to get a guy open. I feel like this should be common knowledge but based on some of these posts, we live in an ISO only world. Crazy.

Shooting has also been tuned for the better. Before this patch, it seemed like me and the cpu were not missing anything. I'm talking 70% from 3 not missing anything. The game was pure arcade trash before this patch and that's putting it lightly.

I can now see operation Sports is close to being all online for this game. We don't even talk about the game anymore, it's nothing but complaints with no real conclusion or help.

This patch has actually made me enjoy this game again. I'm sure little warts and things will pop up, but after getting in a few games with it, some of the comments in here are blowing my mind. I feel like 24 and a few other cats are in here defending this game and we're far outnumbered. Is the sim crowd really this low now? It's a shame.

I play on superstar simulation, 12 minutes with 2K rosters. Game plays great for me now. As an advocate for the offline gamer, I fully support this patch.

So the patch actually does address OFFLINE gameplay as well?

I had no idea what speed boosting was and still dont understand it completely, but i can still get to the rim off the dribble. My iso and dribbling skills are not strong at all, so i can attest that post patch penetration is not difficult. The manual cuts are still as overpowered as ever. But, patch notes didnt mention this being addressed so i didnt expect differently.

Any patch that makes the game more realistic is a good thing. I give 2k a thumbs up for improving the game 8 months after release.

Just played a game against my cousin and he had beaten me a couple of times in the past turbo-ing the whole game and now with this patch, it rewarded me for playing terrific defense. I love it! He wasn't calling any plays at all, just iso-ing with Harden and he severely got punished. Proud of the patch.

Switch off ball to defend the manual cuts.

10 game win streak at the park last night with my crew. You cant help but laugh while watching players attempt to do the Kobe escape size up into a speed boost. I also noticed that my PF that has break starter was throwing quite a few passes out of bounds that I usually make (which is a good thing). All in all I really like the new patch. Will the real 2k hoopers please stand up!

PS. I can't wait to see how these qualified rttf teams have to change their game now because of this patch. Should be interesting.

10 game 🔥 with another small ball lineup in Sunset - 6'6, 6'1, 6'1

One of the 6'1 is an Outside SG who would defend the 3.. the other is a 6'1 Inside PG

We even beat a big lineup that consisted of two C's and a PG.. they were using a double screen strategy but both bigs seemed to be inside builds

All we really feel is the absense of Hardcore speed boosting.. much of everything still works the same.. the pick up dribble animation that is occurring however seems to have been implemented to encourage ball movement and less ball hogging because I'm experiencing this even without intense defense pressure and without spamming anything it almost seems random at most tines...

I can say that team ball is as necessary as it ever was with this new patch. I've been running with randoms in Old Town (I know, we're a wave of one) and we have been getting easy wins just off of good ball movement. I'm not entirely sure that the speed boost is completely gone as I've seen people use the fast hesitation and then explode move back and forth for open three's but its nothing good anticipation cannot fix.

Overall, I'm pleased. I noticed that the only people who really have been having problems are the selfish guys who like to play "super random hero ball" by themselves instead of moving the ball around for a high quality shot.

It's definitely based on a few things. Trying to force the issue was number 1 on the things I saw cause it. Yeah, team ball flat out bodies teams now. And honestly, we had a cpu the other day, and I called for alleys all day. No one can defend smart cuts. It's literally a basketball IQ wet dream.

To all the PC people: you should know by now that you WILL get the patch but it will typically be about 3 or 4 weeks after the consoles.

It's been this way basically every patch for the past 2 years. Christ.

This year it was the opposite. PC players mostly got the patches first or second, that's why everyone is so antsy.

Actually PC usually got their patch with X1 users this year.

...still wasn't "3 or 4 weeks after" like the other poster said. It was typically right along with the consoles.

Just a quick "yes it's coming" or "no, we are focusing on 2K17" would be great.
