NBA 2K16 News Post

As mentioned earlier today, the NBA 2K16 patch #6 has already arrived for PlayStation 4 users, weighing in at 2.4GB. As soon as we get the patch notes, we will update this post. Until then, let us know what you are seeing.

Xbox One users will see the patch later, no official ETA has been given.

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.
  • Updated player portraits for a number of players.
  • Tuned the effectiveness of long outlet passes for players with the Break Starter badge.
  • Delay branching from Kobe Bryant Back size-up.
  • Re-worked size-up dribble launches to prevent unnaturally explosive first steps.
  • Tune miss chances for deep downcourt and cherry picking.
  • Dock vertical and rebounding when you go behind the basket. Don’t reset 3-in-the-key offense timer in baseline behind paint for human controlled blacktop players.
UPDATE #2: The patch has arrived for Xbox One users.

UPDATE #3 (5-19): The patch is now available for PC users.

It's been this way basically every patch for the past 2 years. Christ.
And it's pretty established that X1 patches come a few days to a week after PS4, but 2k still at least mentions X1 in the announcement and lets them know the patch is on the way/waiting Microsoft approval. Could you imagine them going a week or two without any sort of notification that X1 would be getting the patch at all? It would be pandemonium, but since it's PC we should just know better and deal with it for some reason.

Dribbling is not dead, set and read your defenders position properly and cross accordingly. You can either shoot if you're open or pass to the open guy, it's not that hard. There's no need to exploit and and try excessively to create your own shot. It's selfish and only "FUN" for you
"Dribbling not dead", but you showed two clips running and doing dribble moves like that's what people was complaining about. You people in this thread are so funny it's pathetic. People who was complaining is talking about iso in a stand still motion, that after you do a dribble it's not explosive step after it, your logic just show a explosive move running from full court, not the same thing at all.

...my dude, if you can't beat them from an ISO standstill, you might have just been a bad ISO guy in the first place. Completely doable if you actually read and use things to your advantage. They expect the Crawford, so give it to them and tack on a move at the end they don't expect. Purposely show them moves, and then beat themwith a different technique when they fall into your trap. Play smart.

I got blow bys last night with a single dribble, off a catch. How? I actually go middle penetration, everyone expects baseline. They take a step baseline and I'm gone. This is using your opponent's tendancies against them. This is what you have to do. That's basketball

Just finished downloading the patch.

My thoughts:

Dam, with all due respect to most posters here, I think the major complainers have lost sight of how to play ball the right way.

I can still crossover and utilize my moves as I did prior to the patch. I crossed over Steph with Tony Parker with a burst of speed. I had no problem running my typical offense and creating space with screens, change of pace and having a full aresenal of moves instead of being one dimensional.

I can't comment on the speed bursting thing because I don't know how to do it nor does the computer do it. Thank God.

It seems like the CPU had more ability to strip on drives? Steph yanked me on a two on one break. Also, more missed dunks with a solid contest? I could be wrong as I played one game but that is my initial impression.

I do agree, some players need a unique first step but these players are far, few and between. However, overall, as a mostly offline player, it barely affects gameplay if you play the right way.

Hopefully it causes bad habits to turn for the better for the release of 2K17 and reducing over patching the next iteration of the series. One can hope.

The people that are casuals do think that. Can you imagine what their real game is like? Oh my bad they prolly don't actually play the real sport lol

Played in the park on Sunday and it felt like I was back to steering the Titanic again in regards to player movement off ball or on defense. Did not feel like that earlier in the patch's release. Anyone else experiencing this?

Playing online in 2K has always felt like that for me, I can get 10-25ms in other online games but in 2K I always feel the lag delay

Off ball defense vs frequent cutting and running in circles been my biggest frustration for same reason. Your player is super slow to respond when chasing someone.

"How to Cheese" LMAO

They're not even trying to hide it anymore. People are actually proud of being cheesers.

Everything is about "How to speed boost in Patch 6" lol the thirst is real but really man there is not one OP speed boost out there.. 2K cleaned it up.. the streets are clean.. the side to side hop cross is prolly the most OP move and it's not even OP

I'm only playing in MyCareer/MyPlayer mode, and patch 6 has been horrible. So bad it's ruined the immersion/experience especially around the passing aspect of the game.

Here's a short list of issues I'm seeing with patch 6 in MyPlayer mode...
  • Errant Passes
  • Unrealistic Full Court Passes
  • Not Looking Pass interceptions (they borrowed a LOT from Madden this year. Add this to suction blocking that was already present)
  • Too easy to trigger foul when trying to steal (1.05 had a very nice balance)
  • User Controlled player stuck in guard animation even when holding the right trigger to run (very frustrating when you KNOW they are going to pass over you and your player will not turn around and run!)

It's sad that 2K continues to allow Stauffer to rate anything related to the players. Why would the GREATEST OFF DRIBBLE SHOOTER THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN NEED A BOOST IN THAT CATEGORY? Steph should have had the deepest range rating sewed up as well. 99 for both from the start. If I'm wrong tell me. If I'm right, why is Stauffer still doing ratings. The same guy that used Dennis Rodman as the offensive rebounder tier this season when both RUSSELL AND WILT ARE IN THE GAME. The same Stauffer that rated ZEKE THOMAS and JOE DUMARS AN 86 OVERALL. ZEKE? DUMARS? EQUAL? REALLY?

Lol you do realize most Youtubers that play park are considered "cheesers" and have a lot of cheese heads sub'd to them so the amount of likes/support shouldn't surprise you.

I notice people still struggle to play defense even after speed boosting is gone. I'm forced to run with randoms on the PS4 since I just started playing over there and man it's terrible. Every game I had a teammate getting 11-13 points dropped on his head. I don't know if it's lack of IQ or lack of skill but they were getting killed.

Moves feel a little slower but it's definitely possible to take ankles. https://youtu.be/keqQjqJkrV0

Been playing since the patch per normal, but for the first time in my 2k career (dating back to 2k2), I'm getting rather...bored with the game since the patch. I don't know, the game just seems so sluggish now. And since they got rid of the crossover launches as well (NOT the speed boost, there's a big difference), I've kinda just lost the motivation to really finish this year out. I'm mainly a MyCareer and Pro-Am player (SG), btw.
