NBA 2K16 News Post

As mentioned earlier today, the NBA 2K16 patch #6 has already arrived for PlayStation 4 users, weighing in at 2.4GB. As soon as we get the patch notes, we will update this post. Until then, let us know what you are seeing.

Xbox One users will see the patch later, no official ETA has been given.

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.
  • Updated player portraits for a number of players.
  • Tuned the effectiveness of long outlet passes for players with the Break Starter badge.
  • Delay branching from Kobe Bryant Back size-up.
  • Re-worked size-up dribble launches to prevent unnaturally explosive first steps.
  • Tune miss chances for deep downcourt and cherry picking.
  • Dock vertical and rebounding when you go behind the basket. Don’t reset 3-in-the-key offense timer in baseline behind paint for human controlled blacktop players.
UPDATE #2: The patch has arrived for Xbox One users.

UPDATE #3 (5-19): The patch is now available for PC users.

Exactly, not everyone loved the cheese but when it's being used against you, you have to learn it yourself and use it against them. Bottom line is that patch 6 has completely ruined this game! I'm not whining, I'm still pretty good at MyPark and I wasn't amazing even with speed boost, but when you can play a game and a guy that just turned on the game can stop you, its ridiculous. The game is slow, and its boring anyone on here saying "oh you're whining, and you can't play cause speed boost is gone" is just a moron. Be true to yourself and you'll realize the park is getting emptier by the day, people are bored there is no challenge anymore, the park WAS NEVER meant to be SIM STYLE basketball, it was meant to be ARCADE STYLE basketball. Hopefully the devs can do it right in 2k17!

I believe dudes got use to beating people of the dribble with the speed boost that they forgot about counter moves. They are really effective this year in 2k especially after the patch.

2K is made to be a simulation game. They did it right and made it a sim again. If you want arcade go play pro am on NBA Live. 2K is sim, and all game modes will subsequently be sim play.

We had to suffer all year with with this crap, arcade game play and it's finally back to the way it should be.

To this day, I think only Jrocc and one or two other people know what I'm talking about when I mention the 'crossover launches.' In every sizeup, there were between 1-3 'break points' where you could break the animation early and do a crossover to the opposite hand that was meant to leave your opponent looking. Unfortunately, it's been replaced by much slower crossovers that either take you completely sideways with no forward momentum, or my favorite, the extremely slow, readable crossover that literally takes you nowhere.

Tbh, if anyone gets broken down off sizeup crossovers anymore, they have to be some of the worst defenders in the game.

You can still do them but there's a slight pause/delay when you break the animation since patch 6 dropped. It's not really that effective anymore since everything has been slowed down. The "Boop Boop" is terrible now smh.

I think there may be more people on 2k15 than 2k16 at this point. Besides Rivet every park I went to was loaded with people and every court had games going on. Even the stage was loaded with folks. It's just a lag fest on 2k15 though. It's almost unplayable at times. After playing on Patch 6 for a few days now I liked the game much better with speed boosting than without. Game seems off without it for some reason.

My 5'10 PG with max speed upgrades and with boast on, now run so slow. Makes no sense i feel like I run like a center, now it's like why even have a shorter player anymore when I run same speed as someone who might have a 6'5 PG. Guess best I can do is move on to another game and hop next year 2k won't ruin a game, guess I can force myself to buy uncharted now.

Is this dude serious? That was probably one of the dumbest things I've ever watched.

Can't believe that dude thinks he's good lmao

Hope 2k17 will kill his style of play.

I'm really not getting what all the whining is about. In the PNO mode, I'm still able to get past defenders with size-up and dribble moves...with George Hill nonetheless. Do people really suck that bad where they need to use an exploit to be COMPETITIVE in an arcade mode where you unlock a 1001 badges to increase you maxed out player?

What you're saying without meaning to, is that you can't play the game the way it was supposed to be played.

It's hilarious to see everyone taking their ball home! Call me a moron all you like because there was nothing more boring than 2 teams of guards seeing who can speed boost the best for 21 points. If you can't be entertained from swinging it till there's an open shot, or some good defence leading to a reward, then the issue is all yours.
Some people are just good at the game....I don't play My Park often, but I know that I can hold my own. My Player is not even maxed out or have any badges.

I know you can still do them, but the resulting animations now are so sluggish and slow that, unless you're a PG, it's almost pointless to use the size ups. Sure, I've already adjusted, but it doesn't make the new 'lollaunches' any better. Getting rid of everything to prevent one thing isn't the way to go.

In all reality you're probably a hair faster than a 6'5 PG, but the speed between PGS is going to be negligible. You guys aren't putting running speed in context. It's easier for a defender to keep up because they can full sprint without a pesky ball to slow them up.

Was in the pro am last night and our PG was out running guys on the break, because the speed difference is still there, it's not unnaturally fast for cheeseballs anymore.

Yes the launches are slow and you really need to fool them with size ups/dribbles, but launches were slow since patch 3.

Please cheesers, keep leaving and crying. Loving the patch.

Breaking guys when its appropriate, both offline and online. with a 6'7 SF. Alot of times I dont even need to size up to do so, sometimes a change of speed is enough. Look at the defense and take whats given. Dont be afraid to pass the ball if well guarded. A novel concept.

While everyone was stuck on hesitation 3 I was using other ones (not gonna name them, learn em yourself lol).

But forget using sizeups and all that, I played a lot as a sf / bigger sg so I never had great handles or speed.
If you use the right hesitations to get people reaching / leaning to one side all you need to do is behind the back or spin to the other.
Then once they expect it, there's double behind the backs and half spins to counter.

Sizeups look pretty but unless you're using the cheese ones or are a pg they're not all that great.

Coming back to this game after a hiatus. I was wondering if using 2ks opening night roster would cause any issues w the latest patches?

I don't care about accurate rosters from today--I want them accurate from opening night and I've always kept this roster handy. My concern is whether there were any blanket adjustments throughout the league to ratings or something like that that might not mesh well with these patches.

Thanks!

Just an FYI, this Fredo dude is streaming right now and it's the worst thing I've ever seen.

Can't believe they call this basketball.

I've watched Fredo a few times and not once have I heard him ask for donations. His mods will occasionally post the link to donate but that's about it. All donations I've seen are random. Not sure if you watch streamers on twitch like that but asking for donations and subs are common. It’s way worse in the COD community. 2K streamers are way more chill compared to some of the other gamers out there.
