There is stutter / judder though. But it's mostly on replays. To be hones on replays it's pretty bad. Every time the MLB the show 16 logo comes swiping in it's terrible. Sad really cause i love watching the highlight reel after a game. This year the stutter is so annoying that i stopped doing that.

Commentary is better but still miles away from what 2k had.

But since you're also experiencing it during certain sequences, I wouldn't call that "smoothas butta" anymore. If it's smooth as butter, it probably shouldn't happen. Otherwise, somethings causing it to occur.

I understand people having a different experience would also choose to voice their experience, but hopefully that doesn't discount another person's real experience as well. Because what I'm experiencing, whatever the term is, "frame rate, stutter, judder, or whatever" is in fact happening.

Are you using pulse pitching or meter pitching? I didn't notice it until I switched to pulse pitching, then meter pitching also started to act up.

The pitcher's throwing motion goes into a slow motion, stutter, judder, frame skipping, frame rate issue thing. The same goes with the batter.

Basically, the stutter/judder/framerate or whatever it's called is actually affecting the gameplay (pitching and hitting).

Fair enough, i guess smooth as butter is not correct then.
What i tried to express is that it's very very smooth during gameplay for me. It's just the replays / cutscene's that are really bad.

I play with classis pitching, so no meter/pulse/timing thing. Just a press of the button.
Perhaps that's the reason i have no problems with it.

I heard people having problems/stutter during hitting and fielding but i simply do not have that.

I'm not saying that because i don't have it it's not there. I have ready the thread about the stutter and seems a lot of people have it. I'm hoping that it gets solved for the people who suffer from it.
Sofar i believe SDS have not reacted to it (?)
Let's see what the next patch brings.

.
Sure it doesn't help every year mods lock every framerate/stutter thread. Like we are here only to bash The Show and not to help devs to make a better game. With this attitude, probably devs don't think framerate is a big issue just becasue people stop to complain about it after every thread get locked.

BTW - Frame rate is zero problem in MoM. fantastic look and feel - sparkles on railings are an annoyance but frame rate is fine for us guys! The tiny circles for stamina are a major pain in the butt.

# 325 bad_philanthropy @ 04/01/16 10:05 AM
At least the frame rate issues aren't as bad as that glitch a few years ago (12 or 13) where the ball would sometimes freeze just out of the pitcher's hand. Boy was that a heck of a trick pitch.

I'm a bit more cynical about that. I could be wrong but the discussion in that thread didn't warrant it to be locked. If it was going off thread a warning would've got it on track.

Personally I think it's been locked because they have no intention of fixing it...and therefore want discussions swept under the rug.

I absolutely love playing defense this year. I have been able to make more Sportscenter Top 10 plays this year than year's past. Last night I snagged a hot down the 3rd base line with Arrennado who quickly got back up and threw out the runner going to first. I was fist pumping like a madman....LOL

Having a blast. My 2 days off went by real quick playing The Show. Conquest and DD are lost of fun waiting for you know what.

Also, hitting the DD powerball yesterday helps a lot.

For me, the stuttering/frame rate dropping occurs when the ball is in play. The pitching and swinging animations are smooth as always, but once contact is made and the ball travels to wherever its going, that's when I'm having issues. It just looks very choppy. In indoor parks such as Miller Park and the Trop, this really isn't an issue as the gameplay is pretty smooth all around. In outdoor parks its hit or miss really. When I play at Wrigley it is VERY choppy. I played a game in KC and it was pretty smooth. So does it have to do with something about the outdoor parks in the game? I really have no idea. Again, I'm just referring to when the ball is in the field of play after contact is made. The batter standing in the box and the pitcher on the mound, everything up until the point that the batter makes contact is smooth. Cutscenes are an absolute choppy mess but I can live with that, its the gameplay I'm concerned with.

To address this, if I may...couple of things.

1) OS doesn't have a collaboration effort with SCEA on issues to hide things that they cannot address. With due respect, I believe this is an ignorant perspective to have as OS and SCEA work independently of each other. SCEA is a great development team which strives to perfect their game, something they've proven over the years. If they can fix substantial issues like this, they will.

2) The thread in reference was locked because people were no longer talking about the game but starting to troll and throw flames at each other. We're not going to allow threads like that to remain open if users cannot be constructive.

3) Several threads about bugs/issues are locked because SCEA requests any bugs/issues be reported on their Show Nation website (see sticky thread by Ramone).

If there are any follow-ups, please send me or any of the other mods here a PM and we'd be happy to discuss it further so we can keep this thread about impressions of the game.

I feel the same way. I thought that angel pagan was wearing orange neoprene on his arms. Went to the replay and it was his arms, no sleeves, looked very odd from the broadcast cam.

Man, you can say that again.. defense is awesome this year, I had a ball hit just to the left side of 2nd base and my SS (tejada) made a sweet driving grab and a quick flip from his belly to Wong to start a awesome double play. I literally jumped out of my seat and started fist pumping too yelling "f*** yeah!" then I realized I'm standing in front of my open living room window celebrating like a idiot, were a couple were walking by turned and look right at me, (embarrassed) i immediately sat right back down and sunk back into my seat.

So I have a few games under my belt and these are my first impressions.

THE GOOD
-Stride hitting!!! Thanks SCEA for bringing this back.
-Defence is greatly improved! A ton of new animations and smoother transitions.
-They did a great job on the (classic) stadiums, looking really nice!
-I love the fact you can now see the runners speed in the baserunner icon.
-SOTS of course!
-Press L1 one to tag up the appropiate runners is very helpful!
-night games looking sharp.

THE BAD
-I'm really not a fan of the circle stats. Man I gotta use a magnifier to see if a guy is good at something or not.
-Something with the colour palette this year. Last year they took some great steps forward to making the game pop but this year it seems more dull again for some reason. Maybe PBR has something to do with it.
MLB 15 looking lush!

MLB 16 rather dull again

Maybe 16 is looking even more true to life and I just love the warmer look of 15zzz
-Please bring back Classic Catcher 2 batting cam, I can't replicate it.
-I hoped the grass would be/stay 3d when pitching and maybe even during batting but they scaled it all down to flat mat now.
Before selecting the pitch in 15

All the time in 16

-I would like a "Show pitches" R2 button also for when you are pitching.

All in all great steps in gamesplay, smaller steps (and maybe even a few steps back) in graphics.

# 334 Speedy @ 04/01/16 01:27 PM
I would agree that in pitching...I wish I could hide the actual pitches via R2 for when I want to see the repertoire.

For that matter, I wish they'd conceal that R2 option a bit better by maybe at the bottom or something instead of in the middle of the screen (or hidden!).

Well. after a couple of days with 16 I can safely say that I am falling deeply, madly in love with this game. It's already to the point where 15 -- by far my favorite game last year -- is no longer playable. Which is exactly what we want in a sports game, right?

A few notes:

* Seems like fish-eye has been hit-or-miss for some, but this new cam is an instant win for me. Not only is the stadium view vastly improved, but I can also see the ball coming across the plate better, even better than Catcher Classic 2 or whatever it was I'd been using for the past two years.

* The additions to DD are nothing short of incredible. I'm mostly a single player guy and Conquest is my new go-to mode when I need a quick Show fix. When RISK meets MLB, we all win.

* The return of SotS is much welcomed and is working for me as advertised. Which is funny, because the default soundtrack is actually really good (The Struts? Yeah!). Anyway, SotS adds so much to the personal experience, everyone really should give it a shot.

* I'm a frame rate guy but honestly, if anything I see minor improvements this year, at least in certain areas. For instance, the pitcher/batter duel cam -- which slowed to a chug last year -- was smoother in the few instances where I saw it. There are still some hiccups here and there, but nothing so bad as to detract from the overall experience.

Remember folks, some of the issues we're having (ex: baserunning) are certainly bugs that are going to get squashed. In the meantime, relax and have fun with this game, it's a World Series winner.

Amen!

I would love to see some different foul animations too with both swings and throw backs from the ump/catcher.

So, I'm having an issue that's making the game virtually unplayable. In offline gameplay, I'm having a millisecond lag from when I press 'x' or '[]' to my swing while batting and my accuracy on meter pitching. It's just enough that everything I hit ends up late (or I miss completely). I was trying to play Giants-Padres the other evening and I struck out 19 times against Tyson Ross. And Bumgarner gave up 11 walks because I could not hit the zone.

I'm looking to you all for help.

-My other games are fine - no lag in FIFA16, GTA5
-I've deleted MLB and reinstalled twice.
-I've turned user timing and user contact all the way up to see if that helps, but I still get the lag

I've Googled the issue to no avail, so I'm turning to you.

Help me! I need my MLB!
I had that problem last year, but only on one of my tv's. It's not as bad for mr this year(so far).

Loving this game. Only 2 real complaints so far:

1. Sometimes it jumps to the next batter without an intro, usually after a hit but some other times as well. Just a little extra effort to check and see who is hitting if you don't remember. Plus, why would I want to skip the walkup? Hoping this is a bug that can be fixed.

2. The awards and things that I earn. I couldn't possibly care less. Yet I'm bombarded with these after games and just turning on the game sometimes. Yes, it's a small inconvenience to just hit X, but I'd rather not have to deal with it. Makes me feel like I'm forced to play a mode I have no desire in, or that that mode is somehow supposed to be more important than any of the others.

Has anyone noticed if the grass color gets deeper and greener during the summer than in the spring? The colors really do look rather washed out compared to last year.

thats by design. i love it. thats the way it is on broadcasts, during the replay the batter is walking up to the plate, so when the replay is finished the batter is ready for the first pitch. They many times will show the OSD after the next pitch, unless its a foul ball or something.

+ I like the new idea behind the circular energy/rating thing but holy cow is it hard to read. I be walking up to the screen every single time i need to check energy levels. wtf lol

+ the colors seem a bit washed out compared to 15, but maybe its the lighting engine. it might very well be more realistic then 15, but i was just used to the color pop last year.

+ bring back pitcher warm ups for starters. It was part of my strategy.
+ bring back option for button prompt to bring up pitch/swing info
+ upgrade presentation times's 10 and we are good for a 9 next year.

edit:

+ how could i forget. Please, Please, PLease fix that warping between pitches [batter warping back to the batters box, catcher throw back to the mound skipped] for a second i thought i selected hybrid mode, but nope i was still in full presentation.
I miss True Broadcast presentation on ps3 and dont know why they vamoosed it. [I also miss real time, remember that?!}
