I suppose this could happen in a hit-and-run situation, though.
I am clearly in the minority on this one (perhaps the ONLY person?), but I don't like the new bat sound. It seems like it's gone from "THWACK" to "TICK", in all variations (the broken bat sounds more like 100 people simultaneously crinkling potato chip bags than wood breaking). I suppose it does sound a bit more like watching a game on TV, but I'd rather hear it as if I was playing, not watching TV. Just my opinion.
More importantly, I agree with the person who posted that the sound is just "off". Somehow it sounds like it has too much bass and too much treble at the same time, and I'm having a really hard time getting the settings adjusted properly. Some things sound very tinny, other things sound like they are underwater. Last year's game sounded better to me in terms of the overall mix and the ease of adjusting various things.
Note for anyone else who has been frustrated by the umpire volume: It's part of the "sound effects" slider now, not it's own volume control like previously.
I hope I can figure out how to balance everything out for this year in terms of sound, because I really love pretty much everything else about the game, particularly SOTS.
Lastly -- just a suggestion for the forum. I love the idea of an impressions thread, but it sure would be a lot easier if there were separate conversations for various impressions, i.e., game play, animations, sound, etc etc. It's REALLY hard to look through 280 posts to make sure that you aren't saying something that's already been said, or to find other people's impressions on the particular item you're concerned with. Just my two cents, love the forum and the game.

Played my first Exhibition game, and man the frame rate drop is more severe then I thought. Going into replay mode is jarring, in how bad it is. It isn't even making 30fps.
Noticing tons and tons of hitching on strikeouts as well.

Man they really hit a home run this year.
Bravo.
I can put Spotify on in the background and just play for hours and hours

Not that there isn't a hit-and-run issue but so much as extending a baserunner's lead will cause you to go to Manual Baserunning.

Of course, I lined the ball right at the first baseman who was covering and was able to tag the runner before he could dive back.
Side note, tonight I tried a sacrifice bunt in Baltimore with Jose Altuve and it went up the first base line. Chris Davis fielded the ball and applied a tag to Altuve so I was surprised when everyone was ruled safe.
I looked at the replay and Davis did indeed tag Altuve. The problem was that he tagged him with an empty hand. He left the ball in his glove. After applying the empty tag, he still would have had time to throw Altuve out but he didn't.
Anyone else seen this?
Finally got a franchise game in.
I saw the jaggies people talk about, but wasn't bad. Seems worst on shadows (the scene where my guys were coming out of the dugout after the game was over was the most glaring with the cap shadow over face).
Frame rate - seemed like last year to me. If it's lower, it didn't hinder my ability to play.
The new morale system is going to take getting used to. For example, how do I make a player a "star"? Best I can get is "everyday". Why does every reliever expect to be closer and pretty much every SP expects to be Ace?
The contract interest system looks intriguing, though.
Gameplay - pitch speeds seem slowed down and timing window reminds me too much of MLB13 - pretty much the only timing window and pitch speed combo I hated. Fortunately, pitch speed sliders (both) to max and I was back closer to what I was used to.
Maybe it was just this one game but the game seems more pitcher-friendly (would make sense given recent play in MLB), and that's fine with me because I was getting issues of high scoring too much in MLB15 in played games.
CPU also seems better at hitting without being perfect on All-Star. CPU hitters squared up pitches but sometimes were badly fooled.
Love love love the feedback on swings returning and the addition of batted ball velocity is sweet. Seems better than just the generic "Solid" "Normal" etc labels. Silly little thing but HR distances coming back is nice too.
I loved how my first game played - won 3-2 and had to get out of jam in the 7th to keep it tied.
And were those foul balls I saw showing up again?
So far, glad I took the plunge.

Even the liner to 1B holding a runner somehow didn't result in a 3-unassisted DP. Still trying to figure out how that happened.
I admittedly only played one game but it felt really smooth and I agree with others that the ball really pops off the bat this year. Feels quality and I like the fisheye camera. Not a huge fan of the circular ratings and attributes but not a huge deal. Overall very good so far.
Does the new fielding throwing meter have to be timed now? I know with last years it was red/yellow/green. I only see blue on the new one. Just not quite sure how it works. Seems like even if I hold it down until the guy throws it on all star it's a prefect throw.

Next year I might pass. Improvements are so minimal for the last 3 games

A lot of time it feels like MLB: Every outfielder is the flash and always under my ball in DD no matter how late/early/on time my contact is.

I have played 14 games in Franchise mode. I am 7-7 with the Yankees. I'd say it's pretty realistic.
One thing of note, the scoreboard at Yankee stadium seems to be reacting poorly to PBR. It looks all pixilated. Anyone else seeing that?

that's a very good point. I am going to roll with my year-to-year & redo my edits as I go. I"m still not understanding name database. Maybe because they're uncommon.

Hi folks - long time lurker, new poster. Huge fan of the OSFM rosters (always wait to start my franchise until they first appear).
So, I'm having an issue that's making the game virtually unplayable. In offline gameplay, I'm having a millisecond lag from when I press 'x' or '[]' to my swing while batting and my accuracy on meter pitching. It's just enough that everything I hit ends up late (or I miss completely). I was trying to play Giants-Padres the other evening and I struck out 19 times against Tyson Ross. And Bumgarner gave up 11 walks because I could not hit the zone.
I'm looking to you all for help.
-My other games are fine - no lag in FIFA16, GTA5
-I've deleted MLB and reinstalled twice.
-I've turned user timing and user contact all the way up to see if that helps, but I still get the lag
I've Googled the issue to no avail, so I'm turning to you.
Help me! I need my MLB!

Some very quick initial impressions:
Feel like fielding took another solid step forward. Players move a bit better and the transition animations look smoother.
Hard to say much about hitting as I'm working my way back up Dynamic Difficulty. Definitely seems easier to turn on a fastball which I like. In very limited time I feel like I've already seen some expanded hit types. Encouraging so far.
When pitching, I feel like the ball has more life out of the pitcher's hand. The release seems a bit more explosive than the past, which is a good thing in my book.
Little disappointed in the initial issues with carryover franchises, but I haven't investigated much myself. Hopefully all that stuff will be patched quickly.
Actually, last night I had the CPU line into a double play. I took special note of it as it was so rare last year. The batter hit a shot right at the 1B and the baserunner was a couple steps further from the bag than the 1B, so I was able to double him up.
As another veteran I would like to state strongly that I disagree with this. The feature worked great last year and we haven't even had a patch yet to try to address this. Carry over is a phenomenal feature that adds a lot, scrapping it would be a huge mistake.
