I'm addicted to Ultimate Team. My heavyweight fighter is something like 12-20 or 12-21 and I'm still having a blast. Most of the fights I've lost have been competitive, at least. My biggest annoyance is fighting dudes who try to max out their reach. I've found success in keeping distance sometimes, but oftentimes they back me up against the cage and I can't find an escape because their fighters are so long in length. I should look to garner some luck when I open up packs and try to get some wrestling-centric cards to help out (in attributes) my boxer heavyweight.

Weird thing I noticed in Ultimate Team: After going into the appearances part of "My Fighter", your fighter's reach changes randomly. At first I thought I was seeing things, but I tried it a few more times and the reach stat changed every time.

Now I wonder if that reach number is just pointless, or is real reach based on the body type you choose, etc.

Its the body type not the number that matters.

Finally got the chance to spend some time with this game last night (moved recently), and overall, I'm very happy with the game. Played a few Diaz-McGregor matches. First one I got KO'd in 48 seconds, lol. Second one I won by KO in the 3rd and the last fight I lost by submission in the 2nd round (I was McGregor all 3 times).

Movement seems more fluid than the last game. I like the revised ground controls, even though I'm still not very good at that aspect of the game, including submissions.

Striking feels crisp and for the most part, the reactions of the opponent when they get hit are realistic (you'll see some wonky animations from time to time, but that's to be expected).

The signature celebrations/animations are a nice touch. The pre-fight introductions are great.

Looking forward to playing some more, but so far, UFC 2 feels like a significant upgrade from UFC, and that makes me very happy. I'm not surprised, though, as this development team has done a great job with the series.

Saw a bunch of leg kick finishes in the beta, but none in retail. Played a guy who wasn't blocking low much, so I chased it.

I don't like how fast Maia was moving though with wounded legs. Don't like how he was able to throw a powerful punch with a wounded leg either. IMO your punch power and movement speed ability should take a significant hit when your leg is red like that.

Still waiting to see a leg kick TKO against the CPU though. CPU checks leg kicks and switch stances a lot.

It actually wasnt a powerful punch. It was a hook that landed when Alves was attempting a spin and it caught him when he was off balance. The stumble came from being off balance not the power of the punch.

Trash fight. This guy basically tried to clinch me to death and baby shot me on the ground. I tried to deny several of the clinch attempts, but that **** is a lost cause lol. Luckily the judges saw it the right way. I was the only one actually trying to fight.

I'm in division 5 now. It's helpful if you have a guy with ground skills there. This guy had a good record with a ton of victories via sub. I'm sure he frustrates a lot of people with these tactics and then they gas themselves out when they're on the ground.

Offline, playing with the HUD off is great and adds a nice layer of strategy to the game. Thanks to all that suggested that.

Last night I ran into a completely different person with the exact same matchup. He tried the same tactics, only he wasn't as successful. I listened to him bitch the whole match through the tv about how all I was doing was jabbing him in the face and how he couldn't take me down. I had a good laugh during that one. He was something like 110-14. Felt good to give him that L.

This impression is for folks who are intimidated by the control scheme (submissions, transitions, or the ground game general).

This may sound silly, but I mainly bought this game for the KO mode (kick boxing mode); for those of you that have read my posts on the boxing forum or spoke with me knows that I am huge boxing fan. So I assumed that the KO mode would scratch that itch that misses a good boxing game (which it has).

So recently I decided to dip my toe into the exhibition matches against the AI which allows the full gamut of stand up/ground game.

Without even going through any tutorial or skills training I found the controls and on screen pop ups very intuitive. I find myself doing all sorts of position switches when I'm grounded or in a clinch.

I even learned how to get submissions and how to defend or cinch them in pretty easily. So OSers whom may feel that the previous UFC games had an unintuitive control scheme, in many ways this game has fixed that.

Happy Friday and gaming folks.

I will never be a fan of the submission system and clinch system. I just don't like the delay it takes to do things in the game. If I want to do a submission, just let me slap it on INSTANTLY. If I want to do a take down or judo throw, let me do it INSTANTLY. Same thing with transitions.

All this hold the stick in one direction for 5 seconds until the meter fills up just annoys the hell out of me. Kills the fluidness of the sport.

Just beat a dude who was 150-19 for the belt. His longest defense was 31 fights. He hit me with a good fight message and told me he'd see me again. Nice to see that all the top dudes aren't savages lol. Good way to start the morning.

Just scored my first online submission victory via an armbar with my lightweight fighter in UT. Felt good. My opponent only wanted to tangle on the ground. I'm still not great with the ground transition system, but I'm getting better. Still a complete newbie to the clinch game (but I've gotten better in that area too), also.

I'm loving this game in every aspect. There are the tae kwon doe spin to death dudes, ya but if say half the time I'm fighting somebody with a knowledge of mma.. Ground game is just practice, jits in actuality is just reaction to your opponent and setting up transitions with feint transitions was genius to put in.. The annoying dudes will fall off once they get patched or people start getting really good ground games.. and things will be perfect.. Psn doesHelikeit56 to play someone who promises they won't be Jon Jones of you won't lol

Something's that's been bothering me for a while now...since release in fact; is it just me, or does the game feel completely different from the beta?

Now I'm not here to complain, or to pretend like I'm some professional UFC player. I'm not. Although, it's just not the same to me. For example, in the beta I felt a constant sense of danger when I fought someone. Fighting Lawler was FRIGHTENING and it felt like with a few key blows I could easily drop. I never felt "safe" in the beta. To go with that, just to give a little background to my fighting style...I like to sit back, counter and pick people apart. In the beta when I chose Condit, I was able to stick and move...slowly wear down my opponent, and once they opened enough I was able to explode and take advantage for the finish. It felt like my constant counter blows were damaging, and generally I felt my opponent was forced to ADJUST because he couldn't run directly into my fists with no repercussions to pay for it.

Now in contrast to the retail edition? Wow...talk about pillow fists. I could counter with heavy strike after heavy strike after heavy strike which would all land flush...PERFECT counters, and it's like nothing is even happening?

"Oh you wanna punish my spin kick when it whiffs? lol spin kick to the face sucka!"

It's getting pretty ridiculous. Why is it that I can use Condit, known for his finishing ability and completely outstrike Erick Silva...yet still get KO'd because of a million quadruple spinning cartwheel kicks? Why is it when I pick Machida, I am FORCED to play aggressively because counter striking seems to do next to nothing compared to Liu Kang flying dragon kicks? Just makes no sense to me...extremely frustrating.

Sorry if this feels like a bunch of random thoughts, but this crap is just getting annoying with every fight I can continue to take. I just have to know if I'm just imagining all this or not.

I still don't feel there is enough separation in ratings. I recently had a fight where McGregor was able to get up far to easy with Nick Diaz on top of him.

I'm enjoying the change to stamina when jumping and spinning strikes are thrown, but they have to get the strike damage straight. It's ridiculous how much a fighter can absorb before going into a stun state. This guy gave up and just stood there. Now, I know it's hard to balance things, but this is a bit much.
