I'm starting to realize that I need to pick good people in ranked. I kind of play with a lot of different fighters, but then you run across good guys who are running with Jones, Rockhold and souped up Cerrone lol. It can get tough.

I know what you mean, i tend to use anyone. For instance grabbed Eric Silva in this division 4 match hoping by some rare chance someone picks a mid level guy. Nope lol, but he was stupid enough to turn it into a BJJ grapple match!

Fair enough.

But I am finding even when I am being judicious with my punches and kicks when I miss I pay a heavier penalty than the CPU.

I only say this because I am looking at the bars and how mine sharply declines while the CPU's seems bulletproof when they miss.

The ground game is another one, what I have experienced is if I am Dom on the CPU my meter drains faster than when they are Dom on me.

Is this tied to difficulty? I will test this myself later on.

Definitely enjoying this game more than the first one. Been spending most of my time in Ranked Championships, and some in My Team and quick match. Only played career for like 20min, didn't seem too interesting though.

The ground game is a big improvement, and there seems to be enough there so that a good player can always beat a less experienced player. A while ago I got to the point where once the fight went to the ground, I could almost always read the animations correctly, hold the guy down, and eventually get to the dominant position to TKO them. However, recently I've been getting matched with better players and they've been denying and reversing my transitions consistently. Seems like now I have to start adding in fakes and swoops as well. So it's good to see that there's some depth to it.

Striking is improved too, (chaining strikes with head movement and footwork is cool) but some aspects of it are strange. BIG strikes (head kicks, spinning back kicks, overhands, etc.) seem to consistently come through even after the guy throwing them has been hit. If I intercept you with a jab as you're loading up for an overhand, that should stop you in your tracks, or at the very least make it so that the strike goes off target or do way less damage.

The combo damage multiplier also makes for unrealistic striking. For example, I know that if I hit a guy with an uppercut, it won't do nearly as much damage as an uppercut after a jab. So there are situations where I see my opponent open for an uppercut, but I will stop myself and instead tap him with a jab first.

Loving the standup this year. Watch me go to work!

Significant strikes 46-4 total strikes 143-16 and I lost. One judge had it 50-45 me, other two had it 47-46. He attempted submission after submission. I got out immediately and pounded him on the ground. Dear EA Sports, this is going to ruin the game. Fix it now.

Career mode is really fun. I've taken on CM Punk as the challenge, and have compiled a 16-3 record including wins over Johny Hendricks (with 5 seconds to go), Tim Means and Hector Lombard.

Of the 3 losses, 2 came by submission to the same created fighter (the AI has submitted me more times in 20 fights than humans have in 175 fights, which is good). Kenny Robertson absolutely destroyed me for loss number 3.

Please dont fix that EA. That is a realistic part of the game. Judges value different things. Its not purely a stats game. Some judges value effective striking. Others value submission attempts and control.

Thats realistic.

Yep. And please start posting videos of these "poor decisions" guys. I really want to see what you guys are talking about. Like we keep saying, it's more than a numbers game.

I don't have the game but I think it would be great if EA eventually added a refs/judges system where each guy has their own opinion on how things go like MLB The Show does with umpires. Some refs might allow more ground work while some will stand it up quicker, etc.

Lmao. Nice movement, but why did you have to beat up on poor Phillipou like that? He looked lost in the matrix somewhere. Dance on me like that and I'll have to hit you with a hadouken or something.

I would LOVE to see that. I feel like the system is somewhat already in place with the judges but it would be great to have names associated with it like the Show.

They need to add knockout mode online. I hadn't really messed with it, but it's pretty fun. Just set it to pro, put their health all the way up and do best of 5. Good times.

I drove to Gamestop today to trade in UFC 2 for The Show.

I got there, sat in my car, and just couldn't do it. Bought The Show but brought UFC 2 back home with me.

UFC 1 received tremendous post launch support and I believe this game will as well. I love the feedback and interactions from the devs on here I believe they are passionate about making the best MMA simulation they can.

I need to wait AT LEAST until the first "big patch" and see what is improved for offline only gamers like myself before making a concrete decision on this game.

I also need to man up, stop crying, hit practice mode and just work on ground transitions (mostly denials) until I'm comfortable with it. Really struggling this year. There are times where to me every sign of movement indicates I should block transition one way and that way ends up being wrong. There's a good chance I'm just dumb.

What position are you having the most trouble with.

# 256 Phobia @ 03/30/16 02:52 PM
Clinch denials are easily the hardest for me. Almost all the ground positions I'm pretty good with now, but the clinch is a mystery to me lol. It seems I cant block a single clinch transition, I must rely on them to strike, then block the strike to gain GA, THEN transition to a position which has a take down. Obi-wan your my only hope!

Does anyone else find the CPU too easy? On pro I win probably 90% of my fights and sometimes I have to hold back to make it even somewhat competitive. Seems like the CPU is too predictable sometimes. I try to fight realistic but I am finding it hard to have fights that are close, even when I am the much less talented fighter.

I dont even think im that good to be honest, but I cant seem to get matches that are even. Seem awfully one sided in my favour most of the time, was wondering if anyone else has the same issue? I love the game, love the KO's and really like the ground game, but I think the game will get stale quickly if I keep winning all the fights.

What about the next level of difficulty? You could always try career mode on adaptive AI difficulty as well although the mode is pretty bare.

Two things: There is a patch coming soon that will help fix some of those issues. Try Hard difficulty. Its backwards but for some people, they are finding Hard to be more difficult than Pro.

Pro is the top level.
