I'd just like to see my AI defensive teammates as aggressive as the CPU's teammates on defense. Probably my biggest complaint so far. Seeing the CPU getting off blocks to attack my running back, and then seeing my guys stuck in blocks while they gain yards can be frustrating. Also the secondary needs a complete overhaul next year. Also protect the sticks seems worthless this year. Last year it worked for me.

After playing the game for a week, I've come to the conclusion that I don't like the "get skinny" animation. 1st off I don't like how it's tied to the protect the ball button. There are times when I just want to cover the ball when running up the middle only to have my RB do the get skinny animation. They should've used another button option for it. 2nd I hate how it happens randomly/contextually. This should be something that we control manually. Lastly, the animation itself just looks off. When I think of a player getting skinny I see them leaning sideways trying to squeeze between players. They way it is in Madden players just put their head down & lower their shoulder slightly twisting similar to a trucking animation. There needs to be a variety of get skinny animations if they're going to have this in the game. Seeing all players doing the same animation gets old after a while.
So I'm not against having a get skinny option in the game because it is needed, I just wish they would've implemented it better. Have it mapped to it's own button or just make it contexual without having to use a button to trigger it.

Perhaps you're right, but I see way too many instances of the OL getting to the second level while each DL is in 1-on-1. Very few double teams in the running game generating space for LBs to roam. Similarly I see a real like of run fits or DL spilling in interior runs.
But after reading this i will go back and look again.
It might just be me, and maybe it's only for this type of run play, but the game makes it a point to call out double-team blocking when explaining the Power run concept in Skills Trainer, and I've learned to look for that double-team block when determining where to take that run.
The "run concept" drills section in Skills Trainer is one of the really underrated parts of the game, IMO. It made me realize I had absolutely no idea what I was doing running the ball up to this point, haha.

First thing I did was the Trainer because I hadn't seriously played Madden since Madden 12. It helped me tremendously. For me it was for the controls though not football related. I've watched too much football to not know what defense a defense is playing.
Just an FYI for slider guys: it appears FG accuracy affects length. When I dropped the accuracy slider kickers struggled to hit 47-48 yarders. Just for fun I dropped it to 0 for the user to see how hard it could be. It was brutal! I shanked an XP horribly. Also missed a 40 yarder but I don't think it even reached the posts either (can't remember exactly how long the attempt was). So if you drop FG accuracy be prepared to raise FG length. I don't remember Madden or NCAA being like this before.
Of course since we can't separate user from cpu for special teams in franchise it sucks when I want to make FG kicking harder.

That is a weird design decision that they separate the Special Teams sliders in the front end main menu but not in Franchise mode.
No. This is not that kind of thread.
I'm in love of how ea balanced drop passes. Zones make sense. You don't have to be in front of the wr to cause an incomplete. If you are near him and you hit him as soon as he receive the pass you have a good chance of causing a broken play.
In the past catching was almost automatically. Even bad low rated wr would catch and catch.
This year you even see drop passes without any contact. And this is balance. It's not like ncaa (fitz cover) that all wr will drop easy passes constantly.
I'm really happy this was tuned and balance. At the point it is i think is perfect. With the added overthrows passing game is fun again. No more arcade the all qb throws perfect passes neither all wr catch everything even when they were instantly hit by a safety.
I just wanted to vent. I do when something I don't like and I feel is fair to do it when something is right on.

Might be easier to save and upload these from your console, at least for appearances sake.

First game in: Steelers vs Jets.
Roethlisberger started off like 9-10 for 119 yards and 2 TDs and I started to get worried. Special catch TD by Bryant for 30-40 yards over Cromartie was kinda bad. Couldn't complete a pass to AB against Revis to save my life, but Pitt's special slot formations saved his numbers. Fitzpatrick was God awful through 3 and had 1 pass to Jeff Cumberland with missed tackles that went 79 yards after a slant. Other than that, he was 23-39 for 240, 1TD and 5 INTs (1 user). 1 pick was just a ridiculous AI aggressive catch and the other 4 were just horrific decisions: missed HB on screen, kinda like that Mariota play in preseason but I was covering the HB close—Shamarko cut in behind the HB and caught an overthrow; I under cut a slant and he underthrew the ball a bit; cross-border throw across the field to a cutting Brandon Marshall—but he cut the other way, leaving my CB alone with the ball coming almost right to him; I pressured with James Harrison and Fitz took a shot, misthrown pass. Only that one earlier was unreasonable.
They couldn't run to save their lives, but I got up 27-7 and had like 3-4 punts downed inside the 10 and 1 at the 2, so I blitzed and they ran to avoid a safety (madden needs to fix safeties and ball spots: to avoid a safety, the entire ball needs to be out of the end zone... back-to-back blown calls). For me, Le'Veon Bell had 104 and a TD against that front, but it took 30 carries. DeAngelo Williams couldn't gain anything, going for 11 on 6 carries.
Penalties surprised me. In a 5 play stretch, I jumped the snap for pressure, the RT caught me offsides by moving when I jumped, and I thought I jumped the snap—but it was just Mangold moving for a false start. Also had defensive holding called on the slot CB vs Antonio Brown on 3rd and goal right after I thought 'wtf, why wasn't Brown there?“ Other highlights were 2 drive-killing holding calls by DeCastro and Gilbert and a block-in-the-back by a LB on a 15 yard punt return, pinning us at our own 10.

Is it just me, or are the graphics for this years game exactly the same as last year? I genuinely see no improvement at all.
I'm not one of those people who says 'oh madden is just the same every year' or anything, never have been, but every picture and gameplay video I've seen i couldn't tell the difference between 15 and 16.

what constitutes a dropped pass?
i thought if a receiver gets has hands on it, but drops it/ has it hit out, it's a dropped pass?
i swear in my last game my TE had 5 really clear dropped passes, but when i looked at the stats after the game he was only credited with one.
is that stat not working as it should this year?

If the pass is broken up by a defender I don't think it credit as dropped. Only open drops are tracked.

This game is seriously awesome. It's not perfect but quite great - i can finally pass on APF 2k8!
The running game is much better, where you notice great players can cut on a dime and averages take forever to move. There seems to be a bigger difference this year, and the palyers feel like they have weight!!
At first i thought the aggressive catch was overpowered till last night when i played the cpu and they did it on the first series - later i played zone and let my cpu handle it and they kept going for it and kept haivng it knocked out.
you really have to set up the long ball or have mismatch to make it work- makes it that much more realistic!
They need to have a menu about defensive coaching though. like if i would like to put a cornerback always ona guy i should be able to. I kept manually adjusting justin houston on jamaal charles - which i realize is a mismatch but the cpu didnt take much advantage of it on draft champions. I like the shade in and out but i would prefer if i could shade desean on inside and another receiver on the outside the whole game and such.
Also would prefer more defensive options - such as disguising my cover 2 as 4 and all. I know there are plays that do that but i'd prefer an option to do that.
Overall a very very good game and fun!

Best Madden yet, hands down. Wish they had a better halftime and added a weekly show, but gameplay is great this year. Love Draft Champions. The players are more lifelike in their actions and interactions. Passing and catching isn't perfect, as it should be. Adding goals in cfm gives you short term things to achieve. Great game.

Game had such high hopes, but crashed and burned for me big time. OBJ's catch ruined this game. I used to play nothing but H2H for the most part. That is busted.. I just encountered an opponent who would not allow the game to end. I was up 28-3 with two seconds left and he kept giving a hard count until his O lineman jumped. Did it 50+ times, I let my game sit there for an hour until he finally quit. WHAT IN THE!!!!
