I am absolutely loving playing CB this year.

Yes with defense assist on it makes it easier....but wow. When the ball goes up and you have the option to play the ball or the WR.....I am getting some amazing interactions and unpredictable results.

In a user vs user game last night I played a fade in the end zone and punched the ball out to hold a team to a FG.

Never ever was able to do that in past Maddens. Pretty awesome.

Based on the the developers words, online penalties were not introduced for ranked matches because they didn't want the ranked matches having penalties influence the outcome of games.

By they he means the players in that community. They have made it abundantly clear they out want what they can influence to determine wins and losses aka "stick skills".

Yes, I should have phrased that better, the players in the online community, especially for ranked games.

They went to the wrong community for that bit of advice, thats a part of the game and its true to its nature that a penalty or penalties can result in losses or close to it. Maybe that code for "we cannot get penalties to work properly online".

Except they work in online Franchise...so your whole they don't work online conspiracy is debunked.

Pretty much. Competition online community is different from Online CFM community who for the most part are the "sim" community. Penalties are in play now and franchise modes. Not MUT, H2H and Draft Champions.

They are in there, they are just really, really rare. I had 1 false start called on me when I fake snapped a couple of times in in Draft Champions.

I was hating the D-line O-line interaction, Until I did the skills trainer practice for D-line. Now I love how I can move the Lineman to the left or right and set them up for a power or swim move. If you guess right on run plays you can shut them down in the back field. If you guess wrong you open up a big run lane. I like this detail to the line play. Cuddos EA. something that is so overlooked brings real immersion to the game. If you haven't tried the D-line skills trainer you should then practice it it takes some getting used to, but well worth the time to put in it. Sometimes you win that battle sometimes you don't.That is realistic.

Im talking online h2h sir, doesnt debunk nothing when cfm is not even playable to begin with for starters. Why work elsewhere and not everywhere its all football regardless what mode.

You play H2H to see who is better. Not who gets lucky with the right penalty animations. They would work fine online if they wanted them to. Its not some conspiracy.

After a few games and messing with the game speed, my impressions are improving greatly. For me, All Madden seems to play like All Pro did in M15, and I like that better than M16 All Pro, as it istoo easy for me. Player attributes do make a huge difference, but receivers can be unbalanced and random because of new mechanics. This is all play now impressions.

Passing: I do like the new mechanics/animations, and schemes. You have more opportunity to make moves and use the open field. Why the need for more buttons? Why not continue to incorporate the left stick efficiently? I'm not even clear as to what the left stick is doing now, but a left stick low throw, for example, was easier than a button combo. Also not sure about the secondary. In any mode I'm completing passes that I never would have against the secondary in M15. Can't decide if that is good or bad, but M15 secondary was tough. Cole Beasely plays like a monster. That's right, I said Cole Beasely. Deep passing is over-powered. It's just a fact, but seems they will adjust.

Running: Took some time to get used to, but I like it. I like that you can fight your way through tackles or wait for holes. Downfield blocking is way better. You have the opportunity to make more decisions when you run, which makes good runs depend more on what you do and makes them more gratifying. Stiff arm modded a bit, probably to fix the glitch in 15 where your arm stuck through your back.

Line of scrimmage: Like I said, I like the blocking, but have no real problem with it like some. I am getting in for some sacks and CPU gets to me if I hang onto the ball too long. We asked for the nerf on sacks, we got it.

Tackling: Love the gang tackling, but the watering down of the stick is somewhat of a bummer, but eliminating super tackles means to lay wood, you have to be in a better position to make the play. I am labbing some more, but hope that haven't completely modded the satisfaction of an over-the-middle safety hit on a receiver. The immersion of tackling has been lessened as the players faces no longer even wince when they are hit like before. This appears likely because of the seemingly large efforts for real face scans. They are realistic faces, but they are dead faces, folks. Fixable, EA?

Player models/Uniforms: Again with the faces, see above. It seems like they are pasting the scans on top of, not in place of, existing generic face models in the game. In create-a-player, there's a gap in the front of the helmet seemingly waiting for a real face model, and it can make helmet look weird on a created player's head. Some faces look stuffed into the helmet. Modern uniforms seem greatly cleaned up, but in doing so, they eliminated the baseline looking Cowboys uni that has been in use for years, eliminating my immersion in creating classics for them. Let's get someone to work on modern/classic unis and equipment, it's clearly something that a lot here want. Don't mess with it if you're going to break part of it. In an effort to 'fix' unis, they removed many, and for good or bad, they removed options.

Presentation: I like the new camera options and effects. The new replay cameras are hit and miss at best, halftime/quarter highlights are not as good as 15. Don't like the overall front-end menu. It's not easier to navigate.

CFM: Haven't touched it, other than to find out that EA has taken legendary coaches (Lombardi, Landry, Ditka, Gibbs, Vermeil, etc.) out of CFM, and I don't see any legendary players to use in CFM. Not sure if you need some form of MUT cards to use either of these in CFM. HUGE immersive BUMMER for me on the coach removal. Just wish they would explain why they messed with it. It's this community's response and the publisher's comment not to start a CFM, so I didn't, so I don't have an opinion on its functionality yet. Not even going down the road of the roster editing topic.

Everyone has certain things they want in the new iterations, and the game seems to be evolving nicely, I just get discouraged when I see stuff removed that is important to me. Last year there was something important to me that they actually fixed based on comments we made. Removal of options previously in the game is why my opinion of the game continues to be very good as opposed to spectacular. I'm somewhere in the middle of those now. Thanks to everyone in this community for continuing to push this game towards greatness. Anyone here who thinks this community hasn't changed the game for the better hasn't played it much over the years.

Lab on!

Umm yea it does. Online CFM is an online mode. Penalties work perfectly in that mode. Therefore, penalties do in fact work online. Like HozandMoose said, if the Devs wanted penalties in H2H they would be in there. 99% of the online community and I would be pissed if we lost a game because we got caught in a penalty animation that we had no control over.

Regardless of why they were left out, penalties very well should be in online h2h. Its apart of the game.

I think you guys are being to hard on them. We want these guys to listen to OS and build us a sim game. With Practice Squads and 5th year options etc for a deep sim experience.

There is a vastly different community that plays online head to head and that community says they don't want thier games (which are 6 minute quarters so they can play as many as possible) affected by something out of thier "control" like a botched snap or penalties.

EA has done the best the could to give people what they want. OS has penalties in CFM and play now. The Madden Tips crowd doesn't.

I think--unless they already have it in the game now--Madden should look into setting some criteria that people can use to look for similar-minded opponents. Seems like that's the easiest way to appease the masses.

Its not a big deal either way to me. Im all for sim so it just would be nice to see penalties. Also, h2h is my main mode in madden so what they do in cfm dosent really move me like it does for most on here.

However, the whites need to be more white. In the game, they have too much of a yellowish tint. And they overdue the shadows on the jerseys. That doesn't help matters.

Also the lighting for domed games and day games in the rain need to be brighter.
I have to say that I've been very pleasantly surprised at how much better the lighting is this year than last year, so I'm optimistic that it will continue to improve.

The MLBTS guys have a cool color matching tech and what they found when comparing the white in their game with the white in real life broadcast recordings was that white is actually a little blue, not yellow. Hopefully, with a MLBTS guy on the team now, they'll look at similar color-matching tech and continue to refine things.

Dome games are finally playable this year aesthetically, at least for me. In years past I couldn't bring myself to play as or against a dome team because the lighting was so bad.

Help please. I'm playing on the xbox 360 and am having some trouble. I'm in connected franchise and was hoping to see the combine scouting reports but haven't found any yet. Is that only for the xbox one and newer generation consoles?

I've played quite a few games now but haven't made many changes to sliders and what not so my impressions are somewhat limited on that basis. I played half a game on All-Pro because I read a lot of people saying it was tougher but bumped it up to All Madden after being up 24-7 at the half. I may give it another chance after playing on All Madden but for now I'm going to try tweaking All Madden like I always have.

The game definitely looks better. Lighting seems improved, mostly in dome games. I played in Dallas and it looked great. Haven't noticed too much difference in day games really but the colors on some uniforms do look better but a lot are still lacking. Played an overcast game in Chicago that looked really good too. Presentation wise it's okay. Alex Smith's QB cadence is gone which kind of sucks. I really don't like the on-field cams at all. The wire cam is cool and they have some nice pre-snap cams as well that are good. The monoliths I could give or take. I don't like how they're always tilted or at an angle. I don't mind the stat bugs as much as I figured. It's nice getting info you would have otherwise not have gotten.

Gameplay wise you can definitely see the improvements. In my first game I had a couple of awesome plays. One where Derrick Johnson "got skinny" thorough the line to make a stop in the backfield. It looked great. And then another where I stopped Dallas' RB in the backfield before he kind of spun of and grinded his way into the endzone. Playing on All-Madden though it's evident that the same issues from last year still stand and it greatly takes away from the game. Robo-QB is still extremely prevalent just because User Coverage is still absolutely awful and a night-and-day difference between the CPU's. CPU DB's are routinely stride for stride with my receivers and knocking balls out but my DB's are rarely even within spitting distance. But when you do get those moments it's absolutely awesome and feels really fun. The sliders do seem to work a little bit better but I have to keep tweaking. I was able to get Josh McCown to throw some incompletions but Eli Manning just was around 85% in the game I finished. QB AI seems better but is still pretty bad. One big issue I've had in a few games is CPU Playcalling. I played the Broncos and they must have run the same slants play 20+ times. Then I played the Bears and they ran seemingly nothing but Mesh plays for the entire game. I'm still seeing way too many Slants, Curl Flats, and Mesh being run because the playbooks and gameplanning are setup poorly. Tackling is really nice. It's cool seeing guys fight for extra yards and moving the piles or getting dropped back after a defender comes into a pile.

Trying to break the wall of text but I've come across some minor annoyances. There is quite a few times where my QB is just completely out of control. I don't know if it's a bug or what but it happens mainly on PA passes where my QB will just have a mind of his own and going running around without me doing anything. It also seems like sometimes when I'm trying to direct the pass he'll start running as well. It feels really awkward sometimes. I've only seen a handful of penalties playing on default and at 15 minute quarters. I had a blatant intentional grounding that didn't get called on the CPU in my last game as well. But the lack of pass coverage really limits the amount of PI that will ever be called. Also when playing D it seems like the Man Align adjustment never works which usually means someone is going to be extremely open.

I haven't jumped into a CFM because of all of the issues but I did go through an entire season of scouting and a draft just to see how it was. The draft class I had didn't seem to have any "diamonds" so to speak as the vast majority of the guys I scouted had a true value that matched their projection. Changing characters is still really slow so 32-team control is still a nightmare. I jumped into the Chiefs game in London just to see what the stadium was like and I had started the CFM with all the on-screen stuff on and I really don't like it at all. The ticker wasn't that bad but the giant drive goal thing was annoying. I'm pretty sure it's all or nothing with that stuff too so that's kind of a shame because I'd actually enjoy the ticker at the bottom if that's I could have.

I also tried Draft Champions and came away unimpressed. I don't know if there's more to it or not but I only played one game. I won't be playing anybody online (because online) which probably kills the entirety of what the mode wants to be. But the draft seemed interesting and I didn't mind the process but then it throws you into a game that had to be on Rookie. I had Romo as a QB and was 10/10 for the game with over 300 yards just throwing streaks to T.Y. Hilton. I get that it gets tougher as you move on but I'd honestly have way more fun playing on my own settings and actual games instead of the three minute quarter games. It just felt like a waste of time and wasn't fun at all. I'd prefer something like a NFL Fever fantasy challenge.

Overall the game feels like a much better version of M15 but still with a ton of little, annoying issues. For me though, it's just going to come down to figuring out a way to maximize it's capability. I may try making All-Pro work but I don't know how that will turn out as it's never been a real challenge. When you get those new moments it makes the game feel absolutely great and hopefully I'll be able to reign in a set of sliders that gives that to me.
