Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

Having a pretty good time playing the game so far. The only issue is the OBJ catch animation which seems to happen at least once per game. Doesn't result in a catch all the time, but the animation is becoming annoying.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

I'd just like to see my AI defensive teammates as aggressive as the CPU's teammates on defense. Probably my biggest complaint so far. Seeing the CPU getting off blocks to attack my running back, and then seeing my guys stuck in blocks while they gain yards can be frustrating. Also the secondary needs a complete overhaul next year. Also protect the sticks seems worthless this year. Last year it worked for me.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

After playing the game for a week, I've come to the conclusion that I don't like the "get skinny" animation. 1st off I don't like how it's tied to the protect the ball button. There are times when I just want to cover the ball when running up the middle only to have my RB do the get skinny animation. They should've used another button option for it. 2nd I hate how it happens randomly/contextually. This should be something that we control manually. Lastly, the animation itself just looks off. When I think of a player getting skinny I see them leaning sideways trying to squeeze between players. They way it is in Madden players just put their head down & lower their shoulder slightly twisting similar to a trucking animation. There needs to be a variety of get skinny animations if they're going to have this in the game. Seeing all players doing the same animation gets old after a while.

So I'm not against having a get skinny option in the game because it is needed, I just wish they would've implemented it better. Have it mapped to it's own button or just make it contexual without having to use a button to trigger it.

On a positive note, The CPU qb play is so much better on all-pro this year. Playing against Romo he would buy time outside the pocket and kill me. The improved cpu qb play combined with new WR improvements makes madden 16 a huge improvement.

Perhaps you're right, but I see way too many instances of the OL getting to the second level while each DL is in 1-on-1. Very few double teams in the running game generating space for LBs to roam. Similarly I see a real like of run fits or DL spilling in interior runs.

But after reading this i will go back and look again.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

It might just be me, and maybe it's only for this type of run play, but the game makes it a point to call out double-team blocking when explaining the Power run concept in Skills Trainer, and I've learned to look for that double-team block when determining where to take that run.

The "run concept" drills section in Skills Trainer is one of the really underrated parts of the game, IMO. It made me realize I had absolutely no idea what I was doing running the ball up to this point, haha.

The skills trainer definitely helps you notice some of the nuances in the game. Really fun doing some of the drills. At the same time they also helped me to notice some problems in the game.

First thing I did was the Trainer because I hadn't seriously played Madden since Madden 12. It helped me tremendously. For me it was for the controls though not football related. I've watched too much football to not know what defense a defense is playing.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

Just an FYI for slider guys: it appears FG accuracy affects length. When I dropped the accuracy slider kickers struggled to hit 47-48 yarders. Just for fun I dropped it to 0 for the user to see how hard it could be. It was brutal! I shanked an XP horribly. Also missed a 40 yarder but I don't think it even reached the posts either (can't remember exactly how long the attempt was). So if you drop FG accuracy be prepared to raise FG length. I don't remember Madden or NCAA being like this before.

Of course since we can't separate user from cpu for special teams in franchise it sucks when I want to make FG kicking harder.
