NBA Live 16 News Post

EA Sports has confirmed on their official Facebook page that NBA Live 16 will not feature NBA player or roster editing. That means, no accessory changes, no player rating adjustments, no changing jersey numbers, etc...

Maybe it gets patched in later? Maybe not, but this is not a good sign.

If this wasn't the third year of not having this feature then maybe you would have a point, but at this point people are tired of settling esp. With NBA Live, so yea if the other game has more to offer then why would people drop an extra 65 to get a game that has less to offer.

I myself was going to buy Live this year just to support, but seeing what their main focus was I can no longer do that because i am not part of the target audience that they want to reach right now.

I disagree, alot of the ppl that post over here have been live SUPPORTERS for YEARS through thick and thin..Heck we ALL grew up playing live because it has been the STANDARD for sim bball for years throughout our childhoods...So if some of the OG supporters are like "nah fam im not getting it" best believe its for good reason...none of that fanboy stuff they just support GOOD bball/modes and know when things are iffy...gotta respect that..NO agenda involved im sure

September 15th is what's gonna help me determine if this game will be worth any money and time this year.

I had NBA Live 06 and I remember there being player/roster editing. Shoot, I wish EA put that in. However, I will still be buying both NBA Live 16 and NBA2K16.

Well considering selling a million copies in a year seems to be the equivalent of scaling Mt. Everest even if it only added 100 sales I'd say it would be worth it.

Anyway, this does nothing to help my confidence of them actually sticking to updating things like say NBA Rewind. I think each team has about a total of 30 games available to play in the Rewind section and only the Cavs and Warriors actually had playoff games available.

I'll probably get this again this year, but as usual it'll be used from someone for cheap so I don't have to give EA my money. Thought for sure I was on the road to getting this day 1 this year from PSN.

I'd go as far to say that some of the devs want this more than some users even, but they're tied to what the Games direction is.

You all can debate the decision all you want, and feel that you're correct, I thought the same way. But analytics of the masses say what to focus on.

And even though everyone thinks it's as simple as adding a few menu buttons... that couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, editing is on other titles. The code has been in place for those. For this title, it isnt.

I want editing, but the assumptions that they aren't listening is assanine. Once the game is in your hands (for free), you'll see that they listened to a ton of gameplay feedback. This is just a little tougher than adding a few menus.
I do agree that companies should look at analytic's to prioritize what direction they want to go with their game.

With that said this is sort of a chicken and an egg issue... I mean, what's the last year that Live or Madden had player editing? And how many people aren't playing their franchise modes because they lack customization and options? To me it's one of those "If you build it, They will come" situations and we won't know what effect editing has on sales until they actually add it in.

As for myself, I'll give them game a try during it's free trial. However, even if the game play was amazing without a deep franchise mode, roster editing and custom draft classes, then there's no need for me to purchase it. I'll simply wait for it to come to EA Access to play it again.

You're at OS. 95% of the people here want full customization of their game. Especially rosters. So I disagree with you when you say people here are overreacting about this.

I honestly was going to strongly consider getting NBA Live this year. I'll still play the demo to see where they're going, but I doubt I'll be buying it after this news. Customizing rosters and players is half the fun for me in a basketball game. I mean, I still might get it if their single player aspect is top notch and the gameplay is great, but I won't be setting foot inside anything else. They had player editing back in Live 94 on the SNES so I'm not sure why it's invisible on my PS4, and I think a ton of people agree with me.

The only thing I can think of is that NBA Live had to add so much stuff and tweak so many things that player editing was the last thing on the line of many that had to be included, and it was unfortunately on the chopping block this year.

Keep it up guys, maybe/hopefully EA gets a clue and adds it in before release date. They still have 5 weeks. This game was def going to be a day 1 buy but not no more

As noshun mentioned in another thread, I doubt it's possible to get into the game before release -- but a post-release patch is our best chance.

There are less than 5 weeks. The game is probably going gold, meaning they are ready to ship it off to the stores and done with the initial release, in 3 weeks max. Look at Madden game is coming out a week from tomorrow and an OS member to it 5 days ago.

I have a feeling that dynasty will have customization. Some video or article I read said that customization is improved a cross all modes..
Besides that, let's just hope that synergy actually works with player movement( remember all those delays during Christmas and the trade deadline), injuries, rotations, ratings and tendencies this year. It was great in live 09 especially and 10 aswell. And hopefully accessories are updated more often than 1x per week. I'm just gonna enjoy it as much as I can, and if they gameplay and modes are what they're hyped up to be I think it'll hold me till next year.

Been reading this thread since it went up, I guess I'll put my two cents in. The game will still sell without a doubt, a majority just want to "swag out" their players as shown earlier. But for the usual person that goes on OS? Roster editing being a make or break makes complete sense. That is pretty much this forum's bread and butter, the great rosters put out for 2K, Madden, MLB etc. I only play with custom rosters in all of my sports games, only do little test runs until the first custom roster drops.

I definitely wouldn't pay full price for Live, even if the gameplay is good, but that's just me, my sports gaming lives off the roster files made here. Don't think you can look at somebody on here crazy for thinking that way. OS isn't for the average sports gamer lol

# 258 bigeastbumrush @ 08/17/15 09:55 PM
Relying on Synergy means that if a player starts the season injured, we can't have that player in our dynasty mode until he comes back from injury.

It blowed last year and yes, it kills any sort of realism and immersion.

Editing ratings, gear, etc. should be standard in all sports games.

Online modes are cool but dynasty gets the shaft once again.

Customization is a big deal to people bro. EA fails to realize this over and over or IMO they just don't care. Although I do agree with your last statement...

How can they do worse and worse every year, is insanely shocking to me...sometimes I wonder if their job is to just finish the game regardless of people actually play it or not, they just need to make the game and they get their money, so that's why they take away the most basic stuffs in the game so they can get the game done and get off work early
