Did the patch fail to automatically download for anyone else?

I had my PS4 in rest mode and I have it set up to download and install updates while in rest mode - in fact, it did for a game last week. But I get home tonight, fire up the PS4 from rest mode and get the download is available message.

I was ready to play, but now I've got to wait for this download.

Alot of major league rp for minor league starting pitchers. I also see that no one is on the trade block in August and fewer now through the season. That may be why there are fewer trades. When I try to add players to the block with 30 team control the cpu clears it the next day.
By chance did they add the pending transactions screen in the offseason like the screen available to us during the season? Not having this made me turn trading off during the offseason because before last year's iteration the trades were utterly insane...

I've noticed that some boundary problems still persist at Wrigley. It seems that the players, announcers, and camera act as if the stands are actually in the field of play. The camera will follow the ball halfway to the back of the seats while the ball disappears with Matt V saying it "lands foul".

The player chasing it is stuck running in place at the partition. Before the patch, the ball would sometimes warp back to the player for an out. Has anyone seen the magic ball warp after the patch?

Very small sample size but I hit the best I have yet first game after the patch. Could be placebo or just one of those games where things were clicking for me at the dish. We'll see what happens the next few games.

Ok so if I want to keep the batters real personalized swing, follow-through, HR trot....you're saying don't touch ANY batting attribute and leave them on "default" or else it will reset to a complete generic swing type. Correct?

I see this quite often and was hoping it may have been fixed under "animation cleanup". I am yet to play a game with the patch yet.

Also am not talking about runners slowing down, its when they come to a dead stop from a run animation turn and walk in a split second, doesn't look natural so don't think its intended.

To add on to this thought. The Show developers have added so many features for those that want to play quicker games. Quick Counts, Fast Play etc. I do not begrudge people these features. But why take away features for those of us that don't want to play quick games. You have scenes of Pitchers wiping sweat off their brow, split screens of the pitcher batter duel, mascots rallying the crowd, how much longer does it take to show a foul ball or a batter walk up?

All I am saying is these have always been in the game, why take them out now?
Totally agree! Well said. I want all of the broadcast presentation I can get. For the casual fan or anyone else wanting a faster game.... give them the option of fast play. It's already in the game! I love the game, but this year I feel like key moments get sped up too fast that you don't get "in the moment" like the game of baseball was intended.

Not sure if this is a new bunt bug because of the patch (the release notes mentioned some bunt code was worked on) or if this is just one of those really rare bugs that has existed in the game since day one, or perhaps it was not even a bug but some rare rule. But in my game this evening, the CPU opposition pitcher got four bunting foul balls before he was called out when he should have been called out on that 3rd bunting foul ball? Oh and the 2nd pitch of the plate appearance might have been what triggered the issue. Here is the scenario.

- Opposition had base runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs.

- Opposition pitcher is at bat and a sacrifice bunt is expected.

- 1st pitch is high and in and the batter fouls it for a 0-1 strike.

- 2nd pitch also high and in and it hits the batter. A walk right? Nope ... the commentator mentioned that the umpire ruled on a rare play where the batter stepped into the pitch and a strike was called on batter putting him down 0-2.

- 3rd pitch is low and away and fouled off. Batter out right? The commentator even mentioned that the batter was out on the 3rd strike bunting foul and I am thinking, "Woohoo I lucked out on this one". However ...

- Instead of facing the next batter, the pitcher is still at the plate. On the 4th pitch my pitcher throws another pitch low and away, the batter fouls it away again and this time he is out.

But why did the batter get that 4th attempt? He clearly had an 0-2 count after the 2nd pitch where it was ruled that he stepped into the pitch. Is this a bug? or is there some sort of bunting rule I am not aware of?

I'm playing a Franchise with the Astros that I transferred from MLB14.

On 14, I played the entire 2014 season and the 2015 Spring. I started the 2015 season on MLB15.

Just stating all of that in case it is important.

I'm sad to report that post-patch all of the following are still true:

1. The home teams pitching staff ("Big Arms") is always the topic of discussion during pregame.

2. Every game is treated like Opening Day.

3. The PA Announcer introduces the home 9 as "Your 2016..." even though it is 2015.

4. The first home run of any game is always treated as though it is that player's first career home run.

All of this really hurts immersion but it isn't the end of the world. Just reporting.

Aside from those every-game annoyances, I'm happy with the patch.

I saw an instance where it maybe could have happened and didn't. The player was just reaching the wall instead of continuously running into it when the ball came down though, so it may not have been the exact trigger for the bug.

I too saw the ball just bounce into the stands as though it were landing in an open field. No reaction by the fans to try and catch it.

The foul ball warp isn't exactly explicitly stated as fixed in the patch notes - it only mentions the foul ball/home run bug specifically. Doesn't mean they didn't fix the warp too, I just wanted to point it out.

While I hope that and batter walk ups and seeing foul balls come back next year because there is no reason those things should have been changed in the first place. Baseball is just a long slow paced sport there is nothing you can really do to change that. Even with those changes I would say at most the games take like 10 minutes less. If you want to play quick you can you QC. Great game as always but those things need to be back next year. Great first patch though.

I don't know if it's that people don't have time. It's that their attention span has decreased.

I mean, looking at the labor force participation rate, I would imagine that more people than ever have the time. Just saying.

But it seems that fast play was a good compromise. Why not just incorporate every time saving measure into that option?

lol that is so true.

First good example I've seen of the bunting success lowered. Batter is pitcher Travis Wood and I'm trying to sacrifice Coghlan to 2nd.

You start trying to take things out and speed things along, you will affect the game in a negative way. Baseball is a beautiful sport. It has a charm and persona that no other sport can claim.

Too bad that MLB and SCEA are bowing to the "What's next? - Gotta go" generation.
That is not where baseball comes from.

The thing I find funny about that to is that a average NBA game is 2.5 hours, NHL 2.5 hours and NFL and MLB games are both 3 hours on average yet with MLB and NFL games both being 3 hours I don't hear people talking about NFL games being to long. Heck Collage football games are like 3.5 hours on average lol. There is nothing you can really do to make baseball faster. The only reason any sports takes a long time is like any thing on TV and that is TV breaks. The only thing that can really make a baseball game faster would be if you didn't have pitchers come in for like 1 battier to face a lefty. Even if you had a few less pitching changes it would still only make a game like 10 minutes shorter.

what i can't get past is that you and your team added AWESOME new additions / kept cool existing scenes in between pitches / innings that contradict achieving a goal of having the game finish faster:

1. split screen pitcher/batter
2. dirtcam view
3. broken bat, getting a new one
4. ball boy returning to seat
5. pitcher taking off hat to wipe sweat / gather himself
6. showing emotion of pitcher questioning ball that should have been a strike (i.e. lifting hands like "are you kidding me")
7. home run replay from previous inning(s); hr/xtra base hit in between innings
8. mascot hyping up the crowd
9. show motion replay
etc.. could go on forever mentioning cool things

I'm loving all the stuff above, adding to the authenticity of the game. Not showing foul balls going into the stands more often like it used to, interrupting the throw back to the pitcher from the catcher, etc...seems to take a bit of the essence of baseball away. my biggest fear is that eventually too much baseball will get removed from the game in favor of finishing the game faster...that's why you added fast play, in game saves, usage of x button...it's not like you're forcing everyone to watch everything like some FPS, other genres.

love the game, love the SCEA team's accomplishments.
just my 2 cents.
While I too am disappointed when any game elements and animations are wholly removed from a game, many of the things you're listing and mentioning here add to the emotion of the game. And I think that's what SCEA tried to avoid removing and instead tried to cut pieces they felt didn't impact things one way or another as far as emotion goes.

Obviously, it's a debatable topic of what should/shouldn't be removed if they absolutely have to remove something, but I perhaps naively believe this is where the line is drawn for the most part, barring actual MLB rule changes to speed up the game. It's when they start cutting out the things in your list is when they not only affect the flow of baseball, but also the emotion and tension of the game. And I can't picture them doing that.

But I agree with the sentiment that it should be implemented as an option rather than changing the Broadcast gameplay. Maybe have a Fast Play, Broadcast Fast, Medium, Real, etc. or other solutions that have been mentioned. Here's hoping baseball-simulation fans of all the various paces can one day co-exist.

Twice in pre-patch games in my Pirates season I had gameplay freezes after check swings were referred to 1st or 3rd base umps. After one of them the scene froze on the ump indicating the batter didn't go round, after the other one the scene froze on the pitcher facing a batter-less homeplate. I've seen no reference of any kind to such gameplay freezes in this thread. Not sure if these bugs have been dealt with or not.
