Is there a coach mode available in this version guys? Thinking about trading in 360 version for X1 version but some seem to think the 360/ps3 versions are better...

I just got a PS4 and I love sports games. 2k15 is on sale for $40 now but I honestly don't know if I should get that or Madden. I had 2k14 last year on my 360 and I didn't like it that much. I haven't had Madden since 2010 so I feel like a different game may be good even if I have to pay $60 for Madden. I used to LOVE Madden 09, is it any similar to Madden 15?

Those of you who have Madden 15 and have played it for a while now, would you recommend it to others? Those of you who have both 2k15 and Madden 15, which one in your opinion is better?

I like both football and basketball equally so its a matter of which one to get. I know graphics are improved a lot in both games.
IMO Madden isnt worth it. If I didnt get it as a bundle I would have never bought it. I would suggest getting it from Redbox and try it out.

I don't see why every one hates this game so much.... If you even remotely liked the old Maddens then you will really like this one

I'm not sure if the EA thing has just finally rubbed people the wrong way for far to long or what but I'm just not sure what people are wanting out of a football game... But it's understandable to feel that way I know I have for quite sometime

I had both versions this year and I enjoyed the ps3 version but the ps4 version is better in almost every area. The one thing that bugged me initially about the ps4 was the lack of cutback ability on runs due to heavy player animations. It got better after the patch but there are definitely some nice things in the ps4. Better graphics, camera angles, more dynamic line play, in game saves to name a few. It's not a monster jump up though so keep your expectations down.

The core of both games are very similar. That means your prior experiences will let you know a lot about your feelings for this game. There are still some big legacy issues in both. Both games have very little difference in qbs. In both versions qbs don't show enough differences. On all madden they are all too accurate and on lower levels too stupid. They take too many needless sacks - mainly on screens and 4 vertical plays. The interior DL sucks on both games as you can run it up the gut with too much success regardless of difficulty or sliders. Ps3 is worse though. If you can upgrade cheaply then do it. The game is fun but has its usual flaws.

Thanks for the breakdown Rudy. I'll go ahead and get it for the X1..

I had experienced about a 30+ year run of continual football fun until about a decade ago.

From paper football on the table to Coleco Head to Head football, Atari Football, Electronic Football (the vibrating field and plastic players) to NFL Challenge on the PC to the Madden and NCAA on the Sega Genesis to NCAA, Madden, and Gameday on the PS1, and finally to 2K, NCAA, and Madden on the PS2.

I'm expecting my jaw to hit the floor every year, and if it doesn't, I'm disappointed. Each year I simply tolerate the newest version. It's been the same experience every year for me since 2005...same ol' same ol'.

I'm spoiled. I need to remember the years me playing those games that are not nearly as advanced as what we see in Madden today. But you know what, all of those years, each experience was obviously better than the previous. Current efforts are all about status quo, not about making people's jaws hit the floor.

I posted about this in a different thread but no body responded, site rules are preventing me from creating my own thread so I thought i'd post this here as an impression.

I was initially very pleased with the game but after several seasons in CFM i'm pretty disappointed. Owner mode seems to be completely broken. I've read about how all sorts of other 'players' have managed to do things like sell out their stadium by dropping prices and have managed to be able to afford building a new stadium/relocating but none of this seems to actually be feasible in the game.

The rebuild stadium costs are beyond completely unrealistic. Stadiums do not cost 750m to 1 billion dollars. Hell for some teams these stadiums cost more than their actual team market value. This completely breaks owner mode imo, because you can't afford to do anything about an aging stadium.

I haven't simulated the actual affects of an aging stadium, but I assume THAT part at least works in regards to degradation. Which means at some point you need to rebuild/move to cut costs. However I have noticed that stadium quality is not affecting attendance so it may not really matter if you let it crumble into dust..

Once you've rebuilt the stadium at it's insanely high price you are required to pay a lease every week regardless of whether it's off-season or not of up to 2.7 million. The lease appears to be unaffected by percentage of the costs the market will pay for. 2.7 million per week during road games, bye weeks, playoffs and offseason is easily enough to break any team financially and ensure you get fired as an owner within 2-3 seasons.

The only way to prevent this is by selling out your stadium EVERY week and even then you'd be cutting it close. Even on a large market, with a very successful team I am observing about an average of 50% of the stadium selling out per week with intermittent exceptions. Pricing has literally ZERO affect on attendance what so ever. Lowering to the lowest settings results in 50% attendance, raising to the highest setting results in 50% attendance. This happens even when testing as the patriots or seahawks.

I have NOT observed the issue where players are failing to have any money by off season for free agent signing without a stadium lease to worry about. Without any effort the Jaguars going 0-16 will easily earn 20+ million by season end, jumping to 30+ by free agency.

Many of the modified areas of the game such as the free agent signing are, while better looking a lot less user friendly than before. You are unable to view the free agents skills, or his career stats.

The news area will occasionally report false information such as teams winning close games that actually lost them, or about draft prospects that are not even in the draft.

I'm also observing an even lower number of injuries in the game, other players have stated they see to many on settings higher than 50. I had to raise my slider to over 60 to get a realistic number of injuries.

The receivers do not fight for the ball AT ALL. You HAVE to take control of the receiver on hail marys because otherwise your receiver will just stand there behind the corners while they jump for the ball, wait for them to drop it and then make a half assed attempt to reached for the falling football.

There is even more separation between the receivers and the defense on drags and slants than ever before, something that has been an issue since at least 2011. I can't understand why EA would allow it to get worse in a game they claim is an improvement defensively.

Another problem is that the AI seems to call 90% of it's offensive plays as three wide sets. There is usually at least one receiver on a slant route, one on a drag and the other varies. The AI will also do nothing to avoid the pass rush, it won't throw the ball away and it doesn't attempt to scramble away from the pocket to avoid defenders. It will QUITE OFTEN move up above the line behind the Defensive Tackles, past the line of scrimmage and stand there as if still looking for a receiver with 10+ yards of room to scramble until he is sacked.

Defenders will sometimes run right passed the ball carrier, and dive onto the ground for no reason.

Occasionally a tackles or blocks will result in one or both players being toss up 10 feet into the air often resulting in mid air back flips, forward flips, and cartwheels. While amusing to watch, it's very immersion breaking.

And then finally, but not least...the interaction between same team players is insanely bad. If the ball carrier touches his own team mate, 9/10 he will fall to the ground, get tackled by said team mate, get humped by said team mate. Yes humped, I wish there was a way I coulda saved the replay. The very first play I ran in madden 2015 resulted in a 5 yard loss because the full back got in the way of my half back and wrapped around him as if attempting a tackle and humped him twice from behind before they both fell over and the play ended.

The commentation is slightly better...they actually have started to talk about the teams previous games 'a bit'. But Phil Simms voice is such an annoyance that I generally just mute it. He sounds....sooooo dumb....and changes his opinion about certain situations..or gives terrible advice like not going for it on 4th down at the opp 20 yard line when your behind by a touch down with 30 seconds left in regulation. He suggested kicking a field goal.

Perhaps the differences i'm seeing have something to do with playing the 360 version of the game? I was under the impression the only major difference was slightly worse graphics...I really feel like this is one of the most broken madden games I've ever purchased...out of 2002, 2008, 2010-2015.

I haven't played the 360 version, but your problems sound similar to mine, and I had the game on xbox one. Sadly, wr/db interactions are being saved for madden 16, and like you the player interactions really annoy me too.

It's minor compared to some of the major issues with this game, but the players have no awareness of other players in general it seems. We went from the cartoony/clumsy players in Madden 13 which was due to the infinity engine in year one of a three year project. And now we're in year 3, and while they aren't as goofy post play, they trip over and stand on players Suh style constantly lol.

The physics in this game are still really wonky, and lots of gliding going on. I also saw players piled up on the field looking 'glued together' during ref cutscenes. This game has so many issues, that you dismiss these by default, even though it would be considered unacceptable in other games.

The wackiest thing I've seen in this game was twice my qb somehow being called for roughing the passer.

# 1010 Unforeseenx @ 01/01/15 07:45 PM
Lol it's always next year this, next year that. EA has got to be the worst company I've ever encountered in regards to the video gaming industry. If it was not for the NFL name the game would only be worth about 20 dollars at release.

Oh one of the interface changes I've noticed that I forgot to mention was that in the trade screen your unable to see the players salary. So if you are worried about weekly salary expenses your out of luck unless you cancel the trade, bring up the salary window and find the player again.

Seems OK except for the ragdoll engine. Doesn't belong in a sports game. Offensive players need momentum; having your RB stonewalled by an arm tackle is just stupid. The way it seems like the game doesn't want you to change directions is also annoying. Seems like it pushes my RB to where the hole is supposed to be rather than allowing me to decide where to go.

Totally agree with all that you said; however, it's funny that when a receiver makes a reception going toward the sideline, they have so much momentum that there is no way to keep him from going out of bounds...even if he has 10 yards not to do so.

# 1013 LBzrule @ 01/03/15 01:49 PM
After playing this game a great deal I can surely say, the defense is not improved. Speeding defenders up so they cheat does not = defensive improvement. Giving DL and linebackers unsurmountable strength to break through three blockers in three seconds or less is not improvement. It's making the game cheat. All they seem to have done to say they improved defense is speed defenders up and give them unsurmountable strength. Nothing technique wise and nothing fundamentally sound with respect to the game. The run defense is so unfundamentally sound and the blocking is terrible. After you play it a lot the ugliness of the game shows up.

I know Rex said they had the Steelers defensive backs there and they told them that when the QB throws the football they break on it but they could NOT have meant when they have their damn backs turned to the QB. There is no way they meant that, but that's what the coders put into the game.

Also when a defenders is WAY out of position there is no way that he can get back faster than the velocity of the football.

I think you have to go back to like Madden 98 for that to not be a problem. They simply don't care to address it. No competition and too many people just buy the game yearly. This was the first Madden I bought new in probably 5 years, and only because it was on sale. Glad I didn't pay $60 for it.

Hi Guys I require some advice as most of you seem to be experts on Madden games.

I am very much a novice when it comes to American Football (I am Australian) but am getting more and more into it everyday. I know the basics about the game but have no idea about all the plays and other technical stuff.
I am a massive fan of sports games and mainly play online seasons or online ultimate team (Fifa and 2k).
I know most of the Quarterbacks and some of the high profile guys in other positions but that's about the extent of my NFL knowledge.

Knowing this information do you think I should pick the game up? Do you think I would get enjoyment out of playing it or should I wait till Madden 16?

Any thoughts you may have would be a massive help.
Thanks,

I think the game has tutorials if you're unsure about some things. Or you could just ask around here.

I almost feel hypocritical to say "go for it" but that would be for someone well versed in the game of football. As someone that is learning the game and has the interest to learn the nuances of the game then Madden really is your only choice. You would be able to pick the game up much cheaper now, so if learning football is important, then go for it.

Thanks so much for the reply.
More the question is will I get full reward etc without knowing all the players abilities and nuances of football out of this game? I love Ultimate team feature in games and also online play so Connected Franchises really makes me want to give it a try.

I spent a few hours with Madden 15 on the PS4 over the weekend. Went through the skills trainer just to get a feel for the new defensive controls. After that I played a few exhibition games.

If this had been the first game I'd played on my PS4, I probably would've been impressed, but since I had spent the past 3 days playing NBA 2K15, Madden 15 was a definite letdown.

I mean, the game is what it is (I hate that phrase but it applies here) at this point. If you liked Madden 10, 11, 12 and 25 (I refuse to acknowledge 13), Madden 15 is pretty much the same game with slightly better graphics.

I thought the AI was supposed to be improved, yet the same plays that worked over and over again on the PS3/360 generation work here. Running the ball up the middle, outside of draw plays, is way too effective.

I do like the addition of the player-lock camera (finally!) on defense. That does freshen up that experience a bit. I refuse to play as a defensive linemen because those new moves they've been given are full of cheddar. They've basically reduced OL/DL interactions to a quick-time event that you'd find in God of War or something. Not a fan.

The CPU will use its same bag of tricks to keep you from scoring too many points; namely the points LBzrule talked about a few posts above.

I really don't like to come into an impressions thread and post mostly negative comments. But the reality is that I look forward to playing games like NBA 2K15 and MLB 14 The Show and I just don't get that same feeling with Madden 15. It feels like all the other Madden games I mentioned above. All of which wore thin on me very quickly.

Unfortunately I am a sucker for video football games and will test out some slider sets here and see if I can find the secret elixir that takes this game to the next level. I know it probably doesn't exist and I'll just have to re-calibrate my expectations when it comes to this game.

I shouldn't have to do that as a consumer and I know I have the option of either not buying the game or just trading it in, but being the sports-gaming enthusiast that I am won't allow me to do that. Stubborn? Yes. But I know me and at some point I'm going to want to play some NFL football and the only way to do that is Madden.

So, knowing all that, I will now begin to test out some sliders and see if I can find a set that provides a good challenge. Who knows, perhaps I'll find that mix along with a team that needs to be rebuilt and can make it through a couple of seasons of Connected Franchise.
