NBA 2K15 News Post

We recently had a chance to interview Rob Jones, Sr. Producer Visual Concepts and Erick Boenisch, Sr. Producer, Visual Concepts to talk about a new mode for NBA 2K15 called MyLEAGUE, exclusive for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Before we get into the interview, here is a quick rundown on some of the options. In a nutshell, it’s the Association Mode that we all know and loved on old-gen consoles, on steroids.

MyLEAGUE offers both a single season or up to an 80 year franchise experience. You will have complete control over every aspect of how your league plays out.

Anyway back on topic,

can developers confirm if any of these will be addressed:

- Too many contract extensions signed during the regular season. Should happen 75% of the time in the off-season.
- Ability to execute 3-team trades. Also make the A.I perform 3-team trades with one another.
- More in-depth draft picks when trading. For example, lottery protected, swapping picks, trading picks beyond 2 years, etc.
- More than 4 slots when proposing trades.
- Majority of non-lottery rookies should be receiving limited playing time. They should mainly get the opportunity to play when injury occurs or lack of depth at the position.

exclusive for Xbox One and PlayStation 4

So it looks like there going to give pc players **** graphics and less modes again. Not sold at all. I have so so much anger right now i could break a backboard. Thanks for nothing again 2k

So can i get a break down of what's new about association that wasn't in other previous 2k titles? I mean i give them props for recognizing it was a mistake to take it away in the first place, but i'm not really ready to jump on the "I GOTTA PRE ORDER THIS NOW" bandwagon just because they brought back a mode that shouldn't of been removed in the first place. That seems like 1 step back and 1 step forward to me.

I really do wanna know if there's big differences between this and previous association. Can someone fill me in?

In a nutshell,
  1. The option to turn on/off salary caps and hard caps
  2. An array of 'Association' sliders

EDIT: Forgot to mention this- New injury mechanism

Here's another thing to think about and add to the list of why people SHOULD be happy and cheering for this announcement, but it'll be glossed over and ignored by a bunch to keep up the "2K doesn't listen/care about it's fans" stuff that's taken over this place. Because they kept their word. While dudes have been in here being Chicken Little with the damn sky falling for the last year about last year's LAUNCH title. Leftos told everybody from the beginning that association had to take a step back while they fixed it so we'd get MyGM in the meantime. I didn't think they'd work as quickly as they did in delivering the goods, but man did they get it done quick. I thought it would be 2K16 at least before we saw association again and here we are.

More customization, new injury systems, some vague promises of new prospect scouting, and I think the per team adjustments are all new features.

# 387 SPRINGS03 @ 08/08/14 01:58 AM
^Hmm, i need more info man. More customization is kinda vague. I'm genuinely interested about a new injury system though. Per team adjustments is interesting as well.

@ King_B_MackI'm not sure why it would take that long, it's not like they're making a new mode from scratch. The base is there. And i remember leftos or another 2k employee saying they wanted mygm to try a more controlled approach in 2k14. And yeah i'm happy it's back, and i give 2k props for not trying to stick with that god awful mygm mode, but i'm not gonna lose my mind over a mode that was taken away, and then given back when it shouldn't of been taken away in the first place, again, a step back, and a step forward. Glad to have it back, that simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

What sliders tho?

Why don't you read the article man

..and you can pick and be mad all day the point is people can be happy they have a highly customizable mode on the new Gen systems.

It was already unrealistic to expect all of this in year one with 2 games being made and a new system... but how we all ignored that and acted like they were lazy and for once couldn't chill long enough to see if it was an anomaly which it was and hopefully one that never rears it's head.

# 389 Leftos @ 08/08/14 02:05 AM
MyLEAGUE is not just what was announced in this post. There's more features that we'll go into later on.

"Association with a few sliders?" Far from it.

# 390 23 @ 08/08/14 02:12 AM
And by the way association wasn't taken out of 2k14 it was there on ps3 360 and PC.

...but that's none of our business right?

So, just so I understand, fans shouldn't be happy that 2k has brought back a mode that fans spoke out against removing?

As many arguments we have about people speaking out about what they want...this should be a win for a community. Instead were itemizing improvements in comparison to what was in past 2k's?

Don't get that logic at all. If they make improvements to team defense/rebounding in the game, ill be ecstatic...not going to sit here and say "those things were done well in 2k11, they should have never been changed"

What's the point of that?

Agree with you King!....tho i was a frustrated customer without my association mode on next gen!, I'm really happy association is getting pushed to the front again, it is the core mode, and should stay that way!

glad to hear Leftos, if all gets delivered and works smoothly this could be a great year for NBA 2k fans, you know hardcore association players drool over information like this!...

I can't wait to hear how the scouting rookies reports are done. Also I am really anxious to see how presentation for MyLeague is done, past associations after the first season the level of depth in commentary and presentation really starts to slip and for a 80 year association you don't want your league to feel stale and lifeless once all the real nba players exit of course I expect the presentation to take a hit but past nba 2k games almost make cap players non existent in Stat overlays, end of quarter wipes, halftime shows, and commentary. Would be nice to see some kind of dynamic commentary for you MyLeague games similar to the NBA Today commentary...not to forget to mention the Halftime show in MyLeague should be as in depth as the NBA Today halftime show in exhibition, where they tend to do more than current game stats, they do league leaders and stats over the last month type stuff it's really more in depth then the association modes version. But enough ranting, good job 2k for what you have brought to the table, can't wait to see more!

On another note: I really want to hear about the create a player system, I miss making draft classes last year on next gen

# 395 Cowboy008 @ 08/08/14 02:28 AM
I was going to skip it this year since I didn't like how you had to have VC to do just about everything in MyGM. I just like to control one team so all of these options that 2k is giving us is great.

Stop. Where did i say i was mad?And where did i say people can't be happy? I'm serious, where? lol Just because i said this isn't gonna make me go out and pre order doesn't mean that. Please, don't strawman what im saying man. I don't think it was unrealistic to expect the same association mode and not a watered down mygm mode. I honestly expected a port, with better graphics, and possibly improved gameplay. That's hardly expecting too much.

Good to hear! Thanks. Yeah this is why i asked(contrary to others ready to go "stop hating on my game leave 2k alone!") i actually wanted to know if this is the same mode being brought back or an actual big upgrade to the mode.

Where did anyone say that though? I certainly didn't, all i said was for me that's not enough for me to really say this game is a day 1 buy because it was a feature that shouldn't of been removed. Stop trying to make it sound like i said nobody should be happy.

Also, if they make improvements to defense and team rebounding, as well as passing. I'd be ecstatic too because i always felt like that was a weakness in the gameplay, yeah even in 2k11. But even so, that's not the same as having a feature for years(multiple years by the way) and then taking it out.

By the way, did you guys forget the part where i literally said "kudos to 2k for bringing association back" before? I mean damn guys, relax.

Anyway, leftos has always been pretty straight forward and i don't see him exaggerating things that are in the game or trying to over hype things, so i'll see what's in store. For me Game play and association are the 2 most important things(in that order too). So i'll be really interested to see when they start doing developer insights or developer diaries as well.

# 398 The 24th Letter @ 08/08/14 02:33 AM
Kind of off topic, but with HDD back hopefully we get fully intact Signature Highlights back. Like I said I am not a huge assoc. head, but when I so run a fantasy season or something I used to love watching those after the game...especially after 12 min quarters...

I know Czar was on top of this last year, hopefully 2k heard him loud and clear...

I'm curious...I can't imagine with myGM and myLeague being so similar that it would be efficient to build 2 different modes every year...Is it safe to assume most features built for one of the modes will likely be included in the other going forward?

Or am I totally off base here and both modes will continue/begin going there separate paths?
