R.B.I. Baseball 14 News Post

At the end of the day, R.B.I. Baseball 14 is pretty much exactly what we thought it would be. A report filed by Polygon says the game will be the fast-paced baseball game from your childhood with two button controls.

Quote:
"It's going to be very true to the roots of the brand, of R.B.I. Baseball," said Jamie Leece, vice president of games for MLB Advanced Media, in a phone interview with Polygon earlier this week. "It will be fast-paced; games can be played in under 20 minutes. From a user control standpoint, fans will find the controls to be 'classic,' reminiscent of the two-button controls from games of that generation."

MLB also commented that players will behave as they do in real life, with real-life data being the basis for attributes and player behavior within the game. The game will feature a season mode, an exhibition mode, and a playoff mode. No cost information was revealed, but it was revealed the game will be a digital release on PS3/4, Xbox 360/One, and mobile platforms.

R.B.I. Baseball 14 will release on the PS3/Xbox 360 initially (reported to be April 10), with the next-gen consoles release following that. You can see more screens of the game here.

What do you think? Is R.B.I. Baseball 14 what you expected? Are you going to buy?

Man this looks like fun! 20 min games, finally a baseball game that won't put me to sleep, add to that mlb data etc., sounds good. My hope is for user input to actually matter, i'm tired of playing bb games (other than pys) where the cpu basically determines how the ab's etc turn out.

I wonder if there's broadcasters, and if so, who?

Edit: In fact, there is the dirt line from the mound for the Tigers home game, but not in the Red Sox game, so I think you could assume the opposite.

Look at pic 5. It could be an opening cut scene, but pretty easy to see that's not Fenway.

Wow I'm really disappointed! Thank God for The Show on PS4!

Whatever it is I am sure it will be basic, fly ball to left field, ground ball to short type stuff. If I recall correctly I think it just played music while you played.

I hear you brother real interaction and I dont need all the scripted little things as that actually adds to the long drawn out boredom and little fun , cool the first few times but then well you know .....
RBI was a favorite I still even have a laminated manual and filled in all the players names but kinda weird they dont have 25 man rosters but a Playoff mode is a plus so maybe less can be more ?

Microsoft didn't make this game...

lol, I don't think I'll get it either, especially if there's no announcers. This game might look so bad, even I, with only a little vision out of one eye will be able to tell it's bad.

Maybe so but it still looks better than MLB 2k

Does it really look better than 2k? No way! That's setting the bar really low.

still in the nintendo days for rbi baseball

Some of you are either to young or have never played the original RBI baseball on the NES...it was an arcade type game minus the power ups that you could get into a slugfest or find yourself in 1-0 game late if you played someone who knew what they were doing.

If you are looking for a sim experience, play the show...if you are looking for a fun quick game while only using 2 buttons then give this a chance...well the original anyway...it's yet to be seen if they kept the gameplay the same.

Honestly I don't care how it looks, it's still gonna be better than 2k. Normally have a PS to buy the show but went with the Xbox One so will definitely buy this. Played RBI4 for genesis a week ago and it was fun. Actually got 2 games done in an hour. As long as it has real players and great gameplay, thats all i care about.

That cover shot is quite hilarious, though. I'm trying to determine who any of those players are. I'll take a guess that the Dodgers player is Puig, but I really have no idea.

I have to see this game in motion. Too bad it's not coming out for Vita. That would be just the ticket!
So glad you said this....I had to look at it for a minute and had the one guess you did for Puig. No idea who the Pirate could be...Neil Walker? Either way, i just hope it plays like the old school game

This is RBI baseball.. Did people really expect a game similar to the Show?

It's about what I expected, and it's exactly what I am looking for, as a fun alternative.

Who can argue with this type of well thought out well written logic?

I'm a little disappointed in the player models as well, but for a different reason. I was kind of hoping for the squatty players from the original! I want gameplay like the original with the original theme music (which is still in my head). This will be a good game to play with my son.

I should add that I'll be getting TS for PS4...I understand the disappointment people without a PS may have with this news.

I think the most disappointing thing for me is the complete waste of the data they have. They talk about how they have all these stats and insights to make players behave like they normally would, but then waste it on a glorified mobile game.

I don't care about graphics really, but with all that info at their disposal I start drooling over what kind of franchise mode/GM mode they could have.
