R.B.I. Baseball 14 News Post

At the end of the day, R.B.I. Baseball 14 is pretty much exactly what we thought it would be. A report filed by Polygon says the game will be the fast-paced baseball game from your childhood with two button controls.

Quote:
"It's going to be very true to the roots of the brand, of R.B.I. Baseball," said Jamie Leece, vice president of games for MLB Advanced Media, in a phone interview with Polygon earlier this week. "It will be fast-paced; games can be played in under 20 minutes. From a user control standpoint, fans will find the controls to be 'classic,' reminiscent of the two-button controls from games of that generation."

MLB also commented that players will behave as they do in real life, with real-life data being the basis for attributes and player behavior within the game. The game will feature a season mode, an exhibition mode, and a playoff mode. No cost information was revealed, but it was revealed the game will be a digital release on PS3/4, Xbox 360/One, and mobile platforms.

R.B.I. Baseball 14 will release on the PS3/Xbox 360 initially (reported to be April 10), with the next-gen consoles release following that. You can see more screens of the game here.

What do you think? Is R.B.I. Baseball 14 what you expected? Are you going to buy?

I'm an old head and this game looks like something that I would really enjoy. I like baseball but I don't like-like baseball, if that makes any sense. So something that I can pick up and play a game or two in under an hour is right up my alley. If they have multiple uniforms it would be great. I'm going off of the St. Louis uniform from the screen shot. I'll be keeping an eye one this for sure.

That is classic RBI with a twist. You must not have played the originals.... Much like the generic score board on tecmo Super Bowl RBI baseball did the same thing. Just now they decided to throw the ballpark name up on it.

I just feel all the hatin didn't help the game stick around.... I think 2k had its little bugs but the overall game 2 me was fun n realistic atleast my custom sliders were dead on. I hope im not lookin for the perfect baseball game cuz there probably isn't such a thing...

Has nothing to do with "hatin" and everything to do with sales.

See Madden as an example if you wish.....

If you truly thought that MLBAM, whose main focus is the day-to-day operation of MLB.com and MLB.TV, was going to put out something with anywhere near that much depth on their first try at a console game, your expectations were far too high.

The worst thing would be for them to try putting out something like that and fail spectacularly at it. That would ensure they'd never try to make another game like this. At least by starting small they can look to grow the scope of the game later if enough people buy it and like it.

Personally I'd like to see it get somewhere around the depth of Power Pros eventually, which despite it's, er.... unique appearance, is really quite a deep game and strikes a good balance between its on-field arcade look and sim. But give them time, because if they rush it the XBox platforms will be back to having no baseball at all in no time.

Let's not all go hatin' on Rbi, in fact lets all jump on the bandwagon and see what we can get in years to come.

I'll probably pick it up on iOS. It seems to be at a 2.99 price for iOS I bet and most likely going to be a Martketplace game for $15. Seems fun. Two buttons, 20 mins for a game. It sounds fine to me. No way MLB is stupid to make this priced like The Show.

Great alternative to get my 5 year old into it. Then off to the show when he goes to sleep.

I'm laughing at people who expected this to be some major game. It was announced for mobile devices. I'm sure it's cool, but if you own a failbox, good luck with a baseball game this year.

My daughter has been taking interest in baseball and she's five. She always wants to play 2k, but that's even a little complex for her.

Good, downloads will go smoother and quicker.

It's terrible there isn't a "sim" game for the xbox, but there isn't much anyone can do about it. There wasn't enough support for 2k to stay in business and keep the game going.

If RBI isn't your cup of tea, that's fine, but no need to look down on the people trying the game out and having their own bit of an excitement for it, whatever the reason is.

I used to say the same about Techmo Bowl, until I tried it.

4 running plays and 4 passing plays?

No online play is a joke.

I agree, really a poor decision. The other thing that is odd is the 16 man roster. Is it really that hard to give us a 25 man?

As somebody mentioned above, too bad this is not coming out for the Vita. To me, with no franchise mode, it is not really an option for me on a console. In fact, with The Show and PYS on the Vita, it probably wouldn't work for me even on the Vita. Disappointing.

That doesn't really bother me. Just like the original in a way. It's just stupid I can't play a friend. This better be 19.99 or less like PowerStar golf.
