R.B.I. Baseball 14 News Post

Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) has announced R.B.I. Baseball 14 for current and next-gen consoles, as well as mobile devices, arriving this Spring.

With 2K Sports confirming no baseball game, it didn't look good for Xbox 360 and Xbox One fans, but it now looks like we will see a baseball game for Microsoft gamers after all.

Time will tell what kind of game this really is, but in the meantime you can keep track of the game on Twitter, Facebook and their official website.

I think some people are setting pretty high expectations.

I'll be happy to have a downloadable game with a season mode. Something similar to Power Pros on 360. Like having the option of being able to play a quick game of baseball that's also fun. Sometimes you don't have enough time to get through a whole of The Show or another sim experience.

There's no need for speculation any time, but this is a sports gaming forum, so uh... Yeah.

If there are indeed building the game from the ground up I think that only increases the chance at it being an arcade game, because I have a hard time believing they would invest the extra time needed to make a simulation game that would probably have less mass appeal anyways.

Again, I'm not get my hopes up for this game, but there is a very real possibility that they put out something good based on the history of the series in Japan.

I am pretty excited for this. As a PS4 owner, I will always pick up The Show as long as they continue to do what they have done for almost the last decade. As long as they continue to put out such a consistent, real product, I am with them. For as interactive as they are with us here on OS, I couldn't be happier with them. I can't wait to hear some new though.

Anywho, back to the point of this game... I think this will be fantastic! I am assuming it will be an arcade type of game, but I am still quite excited for it. I think something like that would complement The Show nicely in the world of baseball video games. Now, if I were an XBOX guy, then yeah, I would want a serious simulation. But being a Playstation person, I welcome an arcade style game. At least XBOX will have a baseball game this year, and on next gen. I am sure that is what Major League Baseball thought as well with this, at least wanting to put something, anything, out on XBOX, especially with the whole next gen situation too.

Now, I say this knowing nothing about it. It could be an awful game. However, I welcome an arcade style game, IF that is indeed what it is. I look forward to seeing what the game will actually be in the near future.

All that being said, this certainly came out of left field, didn't it? Never saw this coming at all.

Unless this has been in the works for a while now and there is a real game studio behind it then theres really no shot at this even meeting the 2k series standards. Im unbeleiveably excited for this because I dont want to have to buy a dumb ps4 for a baseball game but I need to keep my expectations in check. Thetes no way MLBAM is going to make a decent next gen baseball game. It has to be some sort of cheap downloadable arcade game. Unless of course they hired the 2k baseball division guys.

If this game was made by the 2k devs who have the video game knowlege along with the MLBAM guys who have the baseball knowlege and enthusiasm, then ill be VERY excited.

I hope there's info soon. If it's an average cartoony baseball game I'll probably just buy a PS4 and get The Show

I bought a ps3 for the sole purpose of The Show 12, 13. It collected dust when that game wasnt being played. I sold the ps3 when I got an X1.

I had never heard of this, actually. I'd be tickled pink to play a game like that on my 3ds.

On another note... Why oh why can't some developers make some UNLICENSED baseball games for current generations?

Seems like now would be the time with only one (two now, I guess) licensed options.

The more I think about it the worse the scenario gets, it seems like MLB panicked and knew it couldn't. not have a game on the market for other systems, scrambled and got MLBAM to throw something together very quick and cheaply. I really hope im wrong.

So the game has been in production for a while.

That seems to suggest that the game will have realistic graphics.

I had hoped for a Power Pros type game concerning art direction, but I'll take this as good news in that it hopefully means that RBI won't be a thrown together piece of downloadable trash.

Speculation is fun. It's like being in The Da Vinci Code trying to solve this RBI riddle!

how you know this is for R.B.I? they don't tell for what game it is.

I've never heard of this game before so i'm really just expecting a complete bad game, so i'm not disappointed when it comes out.

It was posted on mlb.com referring to RBI Baseball

Good question, Ed26. Was that video newly posted? If not, there's no reason to assume hat it has anything to do with RBI.

There's an RBI14 graphic in the upper right of any video you look at.

# 99 Lovesports @ 01/15/14 11:40 PM
Well it's either RBI or another game created by MLB

# 100 MarvinOida @ 01/16/14 01:23 AM
I find it really interesting that RBI comes back, but the thing that's throwing me off is who's making the game?

I can't wait to get a baseball game for my 360
