R.B.I. Baseball 14 News Post

Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) has announced R.B.I. Baseball 14 for current and next-gen consoles, as well as mobile devices, arriving this Spring.

With 2K Sports confirming no baseball game, it didn't look good for Xbox 360 and Xbox One fans, but it now looks like we will see a baseball game for Microsoft gamers after all.

Time will tell what kind of game this really is, but in the meantime you can keep track of the game on Twitter, Facebook and their official website.

The logo and the name feeds off as Cartoonish and Arcadey

Hoping for simulation though

Logo makes it look like a budget PC title or a Facebook game.

Sent from my VZW Note 3

I'm going to be THAT GUY who hopes for a PC version and gets utterly destroyed when more info comes out.

I love OOTP... but I want to actually play baseball.

But hey, at least I still have a dusty 360 sitting around here.

RBI Baseball is so 1991. Call me when they have wRC+ Baseball.

Don't want to pass judgement based the 2% of detail we have from RBI people. I could care less about fluff (Graphics, presentation, extra features, etc.). Just give me a game that plays a "believable" game of baseball and a decent season/franchise mode.....that will be enough for me to shell out money for a game on the One.

cautiously optimistic about this one... If it is a 14 title, that means its this years game. Who has been developing it? I am hoping a sim maybe by Konami? Who makes that really good looking Japanese baseball game? Cause the MLB media can't be the dev... can it?

My guess...

Play Now, downloadable game w/ some fantasy stuff mixed in to make money. (I mean, come on now... They gotta make some money...) Would be cool to have season mode and/or online head to head.

Not expecting much out of it, definitely won't compete w/ The Show, as it will most likely be arcade style. I mean after all, it is R.B.I. Baseball!

This gives hope for my dream of Baseball Stars being brought back.

Yeah, I don't think they'd exhume the long-since-dead RBI name if they intended this to be a hardcore simulation. Still interested to see how this goes, though.

Seriously? This is going to be some slapped together throw-away using MLB assets to try and cash in on the fact nobody, short of Sony's lock, wants to touch the MLB license. This game is going to be a first class turd sandwich. It is bad enough the MLB has no shame in dragging their name through the mud but why do you have to take RBI with you? Shame you on MLB.

I want it to be like Ultimate Baseball Online! But no chance. I miss that type of game

Interested to see what this game turns out looking like. I still have an old copy of RBI baseball laying around somewhere.

Loved RBI... baseball Stars was fun too...I spent two years of my life on it...

but! Realistically I'd be much more jazzed if High Heat came back , or MVP.

I love the Show. But MVP's fielding, and HH for pc... best manage only mode ever.

(Also , can I have Civ II? The others have stunk since)

I highly doubt that someone won't seize the opportunity to make a Baseball game for the Xbox. Would love to see High Heat or MVP make a come back whichever would be fine. I just want multiple baseball games again.

I am hoping they bought the 2K series and will vastly improve it for next gen release. I think that they knew that 2K wouldn't release another baseball game and maybe they wanted to make an investment for the future. Probably wishful thinking, but I hope not!

while i played this back on NES years and years ago, it was a fun game then but that was also when nintendo was basically the only console around at the time other than atari and maybe the sega genesis. but i have a feeling this will be more of a cartoony type game and not serious or pure sim like the show is.

I think the best case scenario we can hope for is Power Pros-like game that has cartoony graphics, but plays a realistic game of baseball. Since there will be console versions, I'm hopeful that the mobile versions won't be transaction-based, but just one flat fee. If it turns out like this, I'll pickup both the XBL and Android versions.
