NBA 2K14 News Post

As if you couldn't imagine NBA 2K14 adding anything else cool, today 2K Sports released a trailer that reveals they have 600 real player and coach interviews which will be used in the game.

The feature, called 2K Real Voices, will feature real halftime and post-game interviews. Most likely a few players per team are represented with multiple possible interviews per player, it's a cool feature for sure that'll help the immersion factor within the game.

Sounds crazy cool, what do you all think?

I hope G Pop is authentic to his interview style, if they even put him in any, also I hope they put this technology into WWE 2K15. In a much more grand fashion of course.

I really like this feature more than I was initially impressed, if that makes any sense.

The animations are a bit stiff and robotic-- I wish they'd spent a bit more time on the postures and making Doris Burke more lifelike. She should be moving the mic closer to her and the player's mouth, and should have different stances and animations based on player height. It wouldn't be too difficult to do-- and it's really weird her hands are holding the mic funny, and her offhand makes the weirdest gestures. I really wish they tried to capture the interaction of interviewer and player-- they're usually huddled much closer together, partly because of the height disparity, and because the mic needs to be close to pick up the audio.

I also think they could also have used better, less static camera angles. Rarely do you see a full body shot at length on TV. The close in shots look much more convincing, and I think they could have zoomed in a bit more to replicate a real broadcast. It'd also give them a chance to show off their head models even more. It's also really odd that they use such static angles for interviews while they use that dynamic up shot from below in all the trailers. Real interviews also use that shot (mostly because the cameraman is shorter), and it would be a perfect spot to work that in:

Check out all the camera movement and the switch to the up-shot at around :20.

However-- they really tried to capture some of the facial expressions and movements of players during their delivery. If you watch Garnett's actual interview, he bobs his head in the same way and in the same spots as he emphasizes certain words. The 2K animation is much more understated-- probably because it would contrast against the stiff posture of the players-- but it's there, and there's some life that creeps through despite the stiff body language. And dang, hearing familiar players and coaches. That's going to draw me in and resonate in occasionally surprising ways-- I'll probably be criticizing the animations in one game, and in the next feel-- damn, that really did look and sound like Iguodala. Iguodala is in my Xbox.

Also 2K needs to work on their hair technology. Apparently Dirk and Doris buy their wigs from the same place.

Cup Half Full I see............

The way I see it though is Amazing, nothing i n life is Perfect and if you see everything they've done as a whole and pushed technology forward many would agree. Things can always improve, but cut 2K some slack they've done a lot and delivered what appears to be an Excellent Game.

*engages sarcasm button*: Me h. Doesn't look like they did any work on the game. 2K never listens to us.

This looks insane.

2k isn't messing around. This is next-gen people. They continue to blow expectations at out the water. I'm floored.

I just hope people are truly appreciating what 2K Sports is doing their first time on next gen consoles. Some of us are nitpicking to a fault about what the game doesn't have or do and not fully appreciating what they are giving us. Take a step back and realize this is an amazing foundation to build on in the coming years and we still don't know all the details about My Career. Real Voices is a game changer in sports games and you will see it will be used by other developers under a different name in the future.

Exactly. These dudes don't appreciate anything!! Nit picking over the stance the players have while having voice overs? LOL WOW!! This has never been done in sports games in any way or fasion, yet you all nit pick? Smh.....The one thing that people forget is......This is still a VIDEO GAME...Not Real life. It won't be perfect.

Great job 2k, you guys are doing very well
I picked up my next gen copy last night.

Can't wait till the 15th!

Not a complaint whatsoever, but I hope for next year when they're interviewing players/coaches at the end of the game the fans will start heading towards the exits. Also, man I hope next-gen consoles can figure out the whole importing custom music into the consoles, because those end of game interviews would be that much sweeter with a "Home Team Wins Game" playlist playing in the background.

I cannot wait for this game.

Wow much respect to 2k for not just porting the game over to next gen, not just making a basic game, these guys are taking it to the next level great job. A must have game

I know I'm nitpicking so here I go. There needs to be more poses, the camera needs to be closer, the backround needs to be crowded (cameramen, other interviews, security, tech guys, cheerleaders, mascots, and guys in suits), some of them should have towels around their necks, and they seem to all be skinnier than when they are playing. Otherwise, great job 2k. Now, all I want to see is a legends trailer so I could see the next gen MJ tongue.

this is freaking amazing, but they need to add more poses and get rid of the coaches and players rocking back and forth in every interview

As you elevate you arms, they tend to appear skinnier
