I would love to see a video on how Madden is made, as far as the animations, becuase its more confusing to me of how they have created these robtic movements rather then realistic movement. I mean do they mo-cap or is it all computer animated.

I know 2k is brought up alot but im just wondering how they damn near perfected player movement in there games with less time then MAdden. Unless the guys at Madden believe there game really represents the NFL game on field already...but that cant be the case.

Now, I gotta ask, are you talking about NFL 2K5? Or APF 2K8?

Because if you're talking about 2K5 I have this question, have you seen those running animations? Absolutely brutal and atrocious. It's like people forget that 2K5 also had many shortcomings, very many. Those running animations were so bad, I actually played Madden that year more than 2K.

Madden did so much right that year. DEFENSE, franchise mode was legit, it felt like a good game of football. Don't get me wrong, 2K5 also did a lot right too, but those running animations were puke worthy.

I was talking about AP 2k8, I never played 2k5, I loved Madden 05 that year. I was actually a guy that didnt understand how guys were not playing Madden 05 that year and choosing 2k5 instead lol.

You are talking about running animations from 2004 man. Its been almost a decade since 2k5 came out. If they were allowed to continue, they would have improve on some things, but EA pulled a hoe move. I am always amazed what 2k5 got done with the presentation, and on field action, that madden still can't get right. There is no way anyone can honestly say they didn't think madden would be further ahead by now.

I'm not on twitter, but if any of you follow some of these bigger name NFL stars, like AP, tweet this thread to them and ask what they think reading all the comments. I wonder if any would actually be honest and answer.

Haha okay thanks for clearing that up, I agree with what you said now.

On the topic about 2K5 Vs. Madden 05, I think people were REALLY caught up in the presentation aspect of 2K, rather than looking at the great gameplay and franchise that Madden was offering. It's the only year I can remember where I could actually have defensive battles with the CPU and against other USERS, it was a thing of beauty.

Yeah, 2K had good gameplay, GREAT presentation, but I just think Madden did it SO much better that year in terms of gameplay and replayability. 2K5 franchise mode was just a pathetic offering, thinking back on it, I actually get upset thinking about what a terrible effort it was.

Sure, presentation was cool, but what's the point if none of that really matters in a bare bones franchise mode. I sometimes try and go back to play 2K5 every once and awhile, and past the presentation, I can't ever have fun with that game. I play Madden 05, and it's like wow, why can't we have this game on our next gen consoles? (With 2K presentation of course)

I don't care what year it was from, those running animations were terrible, and Madden did them WAY better that year. Once next gen hit though, those running animations became just as bad as 2K5's were, I couldn't believe it.

And of course everyone expected Madden to be farther ahead, but they ruined this entire generation by re-writing their entire code for Madden 06.

Man that fooled me i thought that was real for a minute - 2k engine - mmm makes sense. Mind you that whole system as just hand drawn and mocap animation - but so much more fluid looking - even down to Qbs with distinct throwing styles.

I figured the gameplay would be close to the same as CG madden, but the graphics are just a very tiny upgrade that the casual gamer might not even be able to see. From what we've seen it seems like presentation remains exactly the same. They had something going last year trying to replicate a CBS broadcast, but in typical ea fashion, they scrapped it for their own look. The replays can never keep up with the action and is zoomed in too far. The laziness of this company is mind boggling. This is the first attempt at a next-gen game and they're putting out basically the same product. I'm glad they're not starting from scratch like they did in 06, but not even improving on CG? It's basically a port for this year. I guess next year they will agree that the product wasn't the best, like they do every year.

Turned into the tired EA 2K debate.
