Yup. It's really starting to hit the fan now. EA never expected this with their Madden franchise but people are now catching on to what they're doing. I'm glad the backlash is happening now with the new systems almost here and the exclusivity license almost expired. Perfect storm!

This thread ranks just below ramen noodles in great inventions of the last 100 years.

Madden is horrible. I don't do fantasy sports, and madden used to assist me with keeping up with and knowing the 1500 nfl players. There is only so much roster info I can retain from espn and the nfl redone. All I have left in gaming is pro evo, nba2k, and the show. My catalog is anemic. Smh

CFM still doesn't work correctly on the current version.

Why should I have faith they can get the next one right?

Ehhh..not overly impressed with that video. Since I didnt get Madden 25 on current gen, ill still pick it up on next gen for the PS4 to get my football fix. Just glad I have other games to play if Madden gets stale for me

What do you guys want them to do???

I think people had WAY too high expectations for next gen Madden and may not understand that the devs don't know the capabilities of these systems yet. First party next gen games are going to be much better graphically at first, they ALWAYS are. After a year or two the games will start to be pushed graphically and we will see much better LOOKING games. In the meantime, focus on the GAMEPLAY, the GAMEPLAY is what matters. To me, the gameplay looks pretty good, not great, but a definite improvement in terms of fluidity in movement and o/d line interactions look much improved. You can't turn a game that people are calling "trash" into "treasure" in one cycle guys. Continued improvement in gameplay and areas that matter is what we are wanting, let's hope it continues and at a faster rate, but at the same time, don't expect so much on the first iteration of a game on a new console.

Can anyone name ONE non first party title on 360 that blew you away graphically when Xbox 360 launched?

Everyone's talking about FIFA, but FIFA was a GREAT game on current gen, Madden wasn't. You have to keep these things in mind guys, it's going to take some time to get Madden on that level that we all want it to. Like I've said I don't expect it to take 5+ years to get there, I expect Madden 15 to be basically what we've been wanting, but how people could expect a port of Madden to compare to a port of FIFA is beyond my comprehension.
Dont listen to these guys i dont see this as you are defending EA just developers, people do have high expectations which is fair. But what they dont have is a realistic way of viewing the dev process or do they care too....they feel for 60 dollars they should get gold in a box and no amount of excuses will be good enough for them and thats just ignorant to me. You are trying to appeal to the lot of people who want the next gen game to be fully loaded and the fans who still have a 360 want a fully loaded game and not to have a lackluster last title. So they want the dev team who they have alot of issues with coming out with one game a year to come out with two completely different looking and feeling quality games! lol to me thats insane but yet they justify it somehow and thats fine there are a lot of fans here who are fair and then there are far too many no matter what EA does they will just hate hate hate! I dont expect much from next gen this season i remember the last gen i think it was 07 i will never get fooled like that again lol, so ill get it next season no worries but people who expect a completely different game form gen to gen your a fool

That looks 1000 times more like Victor Cruz' salsa, than the one that is actually used in the game...

LMAO, nothing unites sports gamers like a good ole EA roast. the irony is 10 years ago when we were pointing out these same gripes with EA we were treated like trolls, 2k fanboys, etc.
The closest I ever came to getting banned was over criticizing EA/Madden. we were always accused of having an "agenda" to bash EA. Fast forward to today and youll probably get flamed for saying anything favoring madden. LOL too funny. irony indeed

For now at least, yeah. They still could gain my trust back if they do something DRASTICALLY different with Madden 15. If not, I'll be joining the bring 2k football back bandwagon.

They have exclusive rights, they have no competition anymore, they don't need to try, the game will sell either way. I've seen people in this very thread say 'I'm going to buy it anyway as it's the only choice'. The main reason Madden has sucked since 2006 is because they have no competition, it's no coincidence the year they get the exclusive rights is the same year the games started to get worse. Competition in any form of media/entertainment makes companies/products better.

On top of that, EA is one of the worst gaming companies around, with horrible business practices and constant lying to it's customers.

And finally, Madden isn't a sim game, it never has been, it's an arcade game, very much like Fifa is an arcade version of Soccer. When half our users have to spend months upon months creating sliders to make realistic gameplay, you know it's not in EA's best interest to make a realistic game. You have to remember, we (OS users and players that want sim football) are a small minority of fans. The majority of fans are casuals that don't care and will buy the game anyway.

Our hope of ever wanting NFL sim football lies with what happens to the exclusive rights, It's pretty obvious that EA is not the company moving forward to make the sim football we all want. It's been clear since 2006. I hope they lose exclusive rights and another company can finally create what we all want.

tl:dr - Game has no competition, Madden is an arcade game, EA has a reputation for bad business practices.

Also on an off topic note, I just got really lucky and found a copy of All-Pro football 2k8 on the UK eBay site. The game only came out in America, so I have never been able to find it, until now.
I agree completely.

The problem is that it isn't just EA's fault for the exclusivity. The NFL is equally responsible if not moreso.

Just look at their track record dating back to the 90's:

They make coke the official drink of the NFL, so they got into it with Jerry Jones for making pepsi the official drink of the Cowboys.

They sign an exclusive deal with DirecTV for Sunday ticket.

Remember when teams were allowed to sign their own deals with uniform companies? Now, they went exclusive to Reebok and now to Nike.

The NFL loves exclusivity and it scares me because I'm guessing they'll re-up their deal with EA.

I'm having fun with Madden 25. A polished version of that with the ability to share screenshots and videos straight from the console seems right up my alley. I haven't had a problem with any of the videos that have been released, and I've been able to tell next-gen from current-gen quite easily. Playing a lot of Madden, you notice the little things like logos and designs on jerseys being clear and not murky... The lighting reflecting off the helmets and skin... the way dreads bounce as the player moves. I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THAT MADDEN 25 IS A PERFECT GAME, but it doesn't have to be perfect to have some fun with it. Obviously, there are other things we need to see before more judgement can be put on EA.

I'm not saying that next-gen will be radically different, but most of you should expect that. No need to throw away perfectly good player models; just build upon them. I've heard people complain about Madden throwing away their base and not building on it, and now I hear some of those same people complain about them keeping what they have and trying to make it better.

Just remember that most of us haven't played the game yet. If you were getting a next-gen console just for Madden, that was a pretty sorry reason in the first place. If you are getting a next-gen console, rent the game from Redbox or Gamefly, play it, and THEN decide if you're throwing all hope for Madden next-gen down the well.

It just kills me that EA spent most of their development time working on gameplay, which all I see around here is "THEY NEED TO FOCUS ON GAMEPLAY" threads, and folks are ready to drop the hammer without even holding a next-gen controller. Unfortunately, all I've seen is overreaction from all the places that hold discussion, not just this thread. If it sucks, we all break out our favorite oldie and move along.

Madden isn't the only game that looks the same as last gen. Have you guys seen COD Ghost?

# 436 Brooke2011 @ 10/15/13 12:25 PM
Madden resembles football, but not what you see on Sunday. I don't really feel like it emulates it counterpart at all. Yes you can tell a certain player by his face, yes you see detail in the uniforms, yes you can tell what stadium you are playing in. Big whoop, you could basically do that on the ps2 games. The problem with madden is at thier gameplay allows for unrealistic yardage and scores being achieved on any skill level. Last nights game score was 9-19. Play any madden game on any skill level for 15 minutes and the score would Tripple that. The reason is , is that EA and Tiburon have not figured out how the flow of a football game goes . Until you can cut the crap and forget about all the gimmicks , like ultimate team , owner mode, etc and just concentrate on gameplay first, this game will just be sub par

That would be great if it was true

I am a PS guy so this would not bother me at all if it looked better on PS4.

Then how do we explain this:

then

http://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/madden-nfl-25/ps4

Using the same stills on both pages. Also, the E3 footage was on a PC I think.

summed up in 3 words.... bring back 2K!
sports gaming is deteriorating with these exclusive licenses. only games i play now are nba2k and the show. Football and hockey are my favs but they r getting no love and im not spending 60 on this crap.

# 440 tyberious4now @ 10/15/13 01:11 PM
I thank the Mods for letting us express our thoughts and frustration with EA. I think this time around it is justified to compare EA football to 2k football not as a put down but to compare and to let EA know with the exclusive license that we want 2k kind of football nothing less....

No more excuses! No more dev cycle.... We want it Now! Now!
