NBA Live actually looks pretty good. I've heard good things about it and there's a new Press Row Podcast about it.

Anyway, hope for Madden 25 next gen is dead as of today, but an amazing reveal of realistic player movement would do wonders for this games expectations, which right now are about the same as the expectations for MNF next week Vikings at Giants

So how can they come from EA at some point and then all of a sudden "this isnt want we wanted to show" "this is an old build" "blah blah". EA should be in full control of what versions of the game we see and when. They can't even get that right.
Also where is the damage control from EA's PR? When videos just get pulled with no explanation and they don't put up a better video right away it looks bad... very bad.

They handled this week's video and last week's videos very badly. When ESPN's video went up last week with "bad encoding" (which should have been said when they pulled it) they should have pulled it immediately not hours later. And the EA trailer should've been put up right after to divert attention from the ESPN video.

Same thing today, the EA video for this week that's probably going up tomorrow should have been put up today. This is really, really bad PR, it's making EA look like they don't have the game close to ready. We still haven't heard an official explanation for today's ESPN video. This it just embarrassing!

I read today that the exclusive deal runs through march 2014. PLEASE, PLEASE, some other company take this game off of ea's hand, better yet, please no more exclusive deals.

I honestly wonder how it feels to be a dev working on Madden...I mean you release stuff like this and when people see its crap they say you guys must be incompetent etc etc. Lord it must suck to work at Tiburon. I wouldnt wish that upon anyone really.

The sad thing is theyve brought that perception upon themselves. And I for one agree with it.

I get the impression that EA hampers the vision of their creators. I always remember Beluba, the guy did an amazing job with live 10, so i thought to myself: MAN, Live 11 is going to be AWESOME. So what do they do? go the arcade gimmicky route with elite.

They are always catering to the casual fan base.

The studio of EA Tiburon should be shut down imo. They've been give more than enough time to get Madden's quality on par with other sports games. Tiburon's track record with Madden, NCAA Football and NBA Live/Elite is pathetic, quite frankly.

The NFL should stand up to EA, stop giving them the exclusive license and allow open competition again. It is safe to say that the decision the NBA made to allow open competition with video games has worked out pretty well for them and consumers. I'm sure it would also be a good decision for the NFL to make.

Pretty much the way they roll man. Same garbage they're trying to pull over on the NBA side blaming NBA.com for making up release dates for the trailers on that were supposed to be on their website that mysteriously changed. Now the webpage doesn't even exist at all anymore. As a famous expression goes 'don't spit on my cupcake and tell me it's icing.' EA is like a celebrity on Twitter that puts their foot in their mouth with some stupid **** they tweet and then after it stirs up **** they say they're Twitter got hacked.

This is what Beluba said when he left EA:

“When I went over there (to EA), a lot of it was for personal reasons. I wanted to try something new, try a new challenge. But after being there and spending some time over at EA, it was clear that they do things a different way, and in a way it’s just inefficient and just not the place to be to make the best games,” …. With some of the creative decisions over at EA, it just made it difficult to stay there. They just want to make a different game than I had a vision for.

To me this says a lot about how things are done at EA.

Madden was the first game I ever played consistently for hours growing up, maybe thats why I hold onto hope. Guess I will keep playing 12.

It is exactly the same video.

And yes, they are using the wrong game. ESPN should be using 2k8 instead of next gen Madden

This is by far one of the greatest threads in OS history, and I agree that it is a very disheartening day to be a football gaming fan.

It is just amazing to me that the company who set the bar for sports games from both a quality and innovation standpoint since the late 80's has singlehandedly ruined gaming for America's favorite sport since 06'.

Today is the day I have officially given up on EA and the Madden football genre. I was never a big fan of 2K football because I always enjoyed Madden through 05. (Yet I did take notice of the quality of the game of 2k4 and 2k5) At this point our ONLY hope for football games moving forward is March 2014. Either the NFL has to drop the exclusive license crap, or EA has to choose to not re-up. This is literally our only hope for the next 8-9 years.

The one nice thing is it appears that many mainstream outlets and other communities are starting to really show disapproval as well. The web is just outraged by these recent Madden clips, and I expect that to continue 100 fold when this game is released. Then we will hear the million excuses from EA and they will give us another "3 Year Plan" and how they are going to right the ship.

All it takes is to play a few snaps of Madden, and then watch that simple GIF of what 2K8 did without a license and a much smaller team and budget.

WE ARE GETTING ABSOLUTELY SHAFTED AS FOOTBALL GAMERS, AND SHOULD BE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF WHERE WE ARE NOW.

It feels like a revolution happening. People are finally tired of getting pushed around by EA. This thread is legendary. I just can't wait until EA releases their next video. I'm sure it will be heavily edited, and I highly doubt we'll be getting more vids from ESPN anytime soon.

Until next time gents!

We are the minority though.

Just watched the video, I don't really know how I feel about it, I expected just a better graphical game. It's EA. I agree with peoples complaints about Madden being bad, but it's been like this since 2006 now.

They have exclusive rights, they have no competition anymore, they don't need to try, the game will sell either way. I've seen people in this very thread say 'I'm going to buy it anyway as it's the only choice'. The main reason Madden has sucked since 2006 is because they have no competition, it's no coincidence the year they get the exclusive rights is the same year the games started to get worse. Competition in any form of media/entertainment makes companies/products better.

On top of that, EA is one of the worst gaming companies around, with horrible business practices and constant lying to it's customers.

And finally, Madden isn't a sim game, it never has been, it's an arcade game, very much like Fifa is an arcade version of Soccer. When half our users have to spend months upon months creating sliders to make realistic gameplay, you know it's not in EA's best interest to make a realistic game. You have to remember, we (OS users and players that want sim football) are a small minority of fans. The majority of fans are casuals that don't care and will buy the game anyway.

Our hope of ever wanting NFL sim football lies with what happens to the exclusive rights, It's pretty obvious that EA is not the company moving forward to make the sim football we all want. It's been clear since 2006. I hope they lose exclusive rights and another company can finally create what we all want.

tl:dr - Game has no competition, Madden is an arcade game, EA has a reputation for bad business practices.

Also on an off topic note, I just got really lucky and found a copy of All-Pro football 2k8 on the UK eBay site. The game only came out in America, so I have never been able to find it, until now.

The first time I watched this video I said to myself, why doensn't Madden 25 have a halftime show, just like this with the commentary and video highlights and someone breaking down the highlights???

The only way you will ever see something like that return to video game football is if and when 2K can make football games again. EA is year after year destroying our video game football dreams! It's just so sad to know that as long as EA owns the NFL exclusive license we will never ever get a true sim NFL video game that we can be proud to play.

I would like to have 5 Minutes in the boxing ring with the person that is in charge at EA and making these decisions!!

Thank god for MLB The Show and NBA 2K!!
