Guys who complain about the camera, do you use the cord cam from NCAA? I love that camera and it is as far back as you can get. Its amazing. Is it like that or closer in?

The hit stick should only work when the ball carrier is not squared up to the defender. Weight, momentum, and leverage don't matter in this game animations are chosen like a game of rock-paper-scissors.

And the tackling is very herky jerky, seems like they don't wrap up or follow through the tackle when IE kicks in on defense and far too many times the backs fall down to their knees like they've been hit by knock out punch during an IE tackle. I really didn't mind all the after play goofyness pre-patch IE 1, at least we have way better/more gang tackling during play, maybe this will be tuned in the release version.
They put your sliders at 25 on AM, it is stupid.

My super early impression is that offense is wide open and I hate it. They made it so easy yet again.

I am gonna need sliders and thank goodness I don't play the CPU, online league games really.

So now for some positive impressions

the camera angle we got in the demo blows BUT the replays are beautiful. a really nice step up here in presentation.

I really noticed that the infinity engine has been tightened up quite a bit and im seeing a lot of nice crisp tackles without all the flopping and flailing that is still present in ncaa14. the flailing is still there at times but it has been cleaned up a bit.

I like what I saw from safeties separating the ball from the wide receivers on some of the would be catches across the middle. ive seen some nice pops laid by the secondary on balls that were caught then dropped due to a nicely timed hit.

throwing motions for the quarterbacks seem smoother and i like the touch you can put on the ball so far.

i actually had a defensive pass interference called on Packers in my first game. it was on a ball thrown over the middle and the safety Burnett impeded my progress/route to the football and the refs threw the flag. if this is called on a consistent basis it will be a HUGE upgrade and a shocking surprise for all of us. well see i guess the jury is still out

i really wish they put the zoom cam in the demo but i guess those of us ZOOM guys are gonna have to wait to really dive into this game and see how good it can be

i hope sliders in this game are true and responsive because if they are it will be a fun game in the end.

Played the SF/BAL (me) matchup, lost 17-16. My slider changes before I go further: (EDIT: on All-Madden)

Speed threshold lowered to 40; QBA set to 15, Reaction Time and Pass coverage set to 55, INT set to 35 (CPU 40), and Tackling set to 35 (cpu 40).

Generally the game played well, and I'm enjoying this demo a lot. With the small changed I made I really feel like I'm playing a good game.

Passing
Flacco: 15-27, 193 yds, TD, INT
Kaepernick: 5-13, 104 yds, 2 TD, Int

Passing felt pretty good (again considering my changes). Saw maybe 3-4 overthrows, and the CPU had 2 drops early that would've been money in the past. Dennis Pitta and Jacoby jones led w/ 4 catches, though slot WR Tandon Doss scored the TD (man how far Nnamdi has fallen...). Kap seemingly struggled, but 3 guys dropped passes for him, and I also managed to get pressure. AJ Jenkins had 2 rec for 69 yds and 2 TDs.

Rushing
Rice: 17 car, 82 yds, 27 yd long
Gore: 13 car, 113 yds; Kap: 3 car, 11 yds.

Surprised SF didn't run much read option - gore had a 40 yd run on an Inverted Veer (or it looked like it). And I didn't have much success as it looks; out side of my two decent runs I was consistently held to 2-3 yds a pop. Stayed with it and it payed off though. But SF is tough in the interior.

Defensively not much notable, just tough defense. There was a nice overthrow deep by Kap that resulted in a punt return-like INT by Michael Huff.

Commentary is average-at best but it's SOO much better than NcAA. The atmosphere too.

Like demo but feel like it's useless to play on the DLine again this year. Anyone know if there are any moves you can execute to actually shed blockers? Feels like the only appropriate way to rush is to take a wide circle around the OL.

# 368 youALREADYknow @ 08/13/13 07:53 PM
Just to clear up the Assisted Tackles... proof that they are indeed fixed (to the extent that the group tackle situation occurs):

Sliders impact how often these tackles take place, so you're probably not seeing them on default All-Pro/All-Madden.

It's actually much better this year to me. In M13 the outcomes were either a successful move or pancake every time if you tried actual pass rush moves instead of just speed rushing.

This year, there's a lot more push/pull to the interaction. You can bull rush inside or outside. You can see the strength matchups taking place and leverage winning at times (not all of the time of course).

Are there any moves you can do youALREADYknow like club, swim, spin, etc? If so, could you tell me which buttons or sticks do what? I played alot of coach mode last year..

Saint Pelican Brief-- I know about the line shifts and use those often but thank you for your insight

As someone who mentally wrote Madden off and was adamant about NOT buying it this year: I'm really enjoying the demo. Has definitely swayed my opinion. Will likely be purchasing this year.

I'm a former Coach Moder myself... have given up since EA stole that mode from us.

Use the right stick (up, down, left, right) to execute the moves depending on what kind of player you're using. I'm finding that the Bull Rush with right stick down works well to collapse the pocket with the larger 3-4 DE's (Ray McDonald) and the Swim Move is working well with the 3-4 OLB's (Aldon Smith)

Here's how my experience with the demo played out:

I downloaded the demo.

I played a game.

I thought to myself, hmmm, GTAV comes out in just over a month. Sweet.

I might be the wrong person to give an impression, because I've played 10 seasons worth of Madden 11's Superstar mode so all of this seems "new" to me but I did like the feel and speed of the game and I do want to get a football game this year either NCAA or Madden.

This was more aimed at me destroying the CPU with ease.

  • The CPU passing game is really effective and it's mainly because of two reasons. One, hardly any pass rush what so ever. The other is the ability for the receivers to create such great separation out of their breaks. I haven't messed with any sliders yet but just on default All-Madden, I'm continuing to notice CPU receivers get about 10 yards of separtion making most passes nearly automatic.

Harping on my point again, about why Ea would remove various sliders such as pass rush
