menus and UI are still sloooooooow
now i can't start a game, go get a drink and come back when it's loaded, instead i have to press A to advance, is this to get me to watch an ad i could avoid before?

i noticed it in my last game. but the camera would stay on the ball not the player. not a bid deal to me. some others it will be though.

Some people like to watch the pre game stuff. By making you press A/X you wont miss it if you have to get up. You also have to press A/X so it doesn't interrupt you while you are looking at a top player or something.

Frank Solich at Ohio with 26???? (granted he was at Nebraska for a few years)

But Paul Pasqualoni at UConn with a 25? Ahead of the likes of Urban Meyer (22) Jimbo Fisher at FSU who was coach-in-waiting after Bobby Bowden (10).

But the truly oddest one is North Texas coach Dan McCarney with a level 21. Hell, Muschamp at Florida is at level 8!!!!

I feel like when I start up a full dynasty (when the rosters come out), I have to reset everybody to level 1. It's absurd that some of these mediocre coaches have ridiculously high ratings, while big name coaches have lower ratings.
They arent meant to be exact. The coaching records arent even exact. Roster guys will fix it.

I was excited for this game after playing the demo, but I decided to spend the money on season ticket to try it out online. Thank god, because it is awful. All the same route mirroring and warping DBs that drove me to sell the game in the first place are back. They haven't fixed the glitch where your passing button presses don't register (leading to you to miss your throwing window). Zone coverage is still a massive liability. And if you (on defense) change formations during a no huddle series then your players will line up in the stupidest places.

Thanks season ticket, you saved me the rest of that money.

I've encountered CPU cheating on all-American. 3 times. All plays having to do with Db's ignoring ball hawk, or literally moving out of the way purposely to help the CPU receiver catch the ball. The last time was appalling.. Triple overtime.. My Db was in position to intercept, but literally slowed down as if running through mud.. to let the CPU make the reception. I've noticed this happening when I use lesser teams. I like(d) the game until this garbage started happening.

the game is what i expected, its ncaa 12 or 13 AVERAGE out the box, very good with some tweaks.

the AI RB footwork is beyond awesome but their vision is good at times and awful at times, a basic guaranteed 5yd pickup using a quick cut especially on a read hand off is missed too often.

QB's are bad again out the box, they take alot of sacks, but it is fixable for me.

while the coach skills are in as i anticipated its cosmetic when applied to on the field gameplay. it will be very useful in dynasty recruiting but once again its a missed opportunity to strengthen the coach sliders. aggressive/conservative means nothing as Arizona and Akron coaches will call the game the same way

as advertised the cpu can really run the option, however because the cpu dont mix up playcalling or use formations to exploit our over aggressiveness i can get gashed for a 40 yd qb keeper but overload that side the next play and put then in 2nd and 17 from which they will call a screen or 4 vert which will lead to a punt or int...this game is a tease, brilliant one play broken the next.

lastly on gameplay, the AI qb needs to use the skills trainer because these guys cant throw with any anticipation....

they brutally under throw streaks(which they love to call) resulting in wayyyy too many picks, their wr 90% of the time will have you beat by 3yds which is wide open if the ball is thrown correctly yet they throw the ball 3yds behind the which is perfect for the DB trailing.....its criminal for me to play this game with the int slider above 5 on any difficulty....

i did see some glitches which is to be expected in a complicated game like this, these really dont bother me because a glitch that happens 1 per game i can forgive its broken logic that turns me off, so i wont get into detail and help create a fuss about glitches...

however its scares me because i can already see where most of the patch focus will be, so gameplay may get over looked because i saw 2 that if they happened online can derail this game competitively

overall a decent effort by ea, if i had skipped 12 and or 13 this would be day 1 for me, but with over 200 hrs on 13 and still enjoying it this is a price drop for me....

some one needs to make a cpu only rb montage the running at times is very special.

Hey man I really respect your opinion. I was hoping you were gonna get the retail game. I was gonna give you 2 weeks and ask a few questions about the AI and playcalling. Seems like same old same old as far as the CPU is concerned. I'm gonna have to check with Tarheel and GMSS in a couple of weeks.

It looks like the sliders work from what I can tell. Won't fix everything of course.

Its decent. Run game is WAY overpowered, but so far the sliders seem to work very well so I'll tweak that once I get to it. I'm currently just setting QB accuracy and Pass Blk, zeroing everything out slider by slider and going down the list until I get everything where I need it.

I also agree with a statement I read earlier stating that the game is soulless/lifeless. There's been something missing out of this entire generation of NCAA that I cant quite put my finger on. Like I say, its decent and the best version yet, so I definitely see lots of play time coming in the future but the environment is just way too sterile. It needs more "people" animations, if that helps folks understand what I'm saying a little more.

Nothing really transitions smoothly. Its like a bunch of work just cobbled together. When I say nothing transitions smoothly, I'm talking odd replay/cutscene angles and situations, the way players change position while moving, etc things like that. The effect all of that has, is that the game never fully immerses me into the world the devs are trying to sell. They still have a ton of work that needs to be done.

i have it at #1 in my gamefly Q so here's to hoping i get a copy soon....

send me a PM with any questions i will be maxing out this season ticket.

we still cant get coaches to use assigned playbooks in play now, so far i cant get it to work in dynasty either.

despite its short comings it still plays you close, i have lost my fair share of games luckily for me i run a pro style offense and rarely if never use any formation with more than 3 wr.... so i dont get many streaks TD's which keeps the game close....

but if you are a spread guy, and roll out 4/5wr the slot guys can have career days due to the cpu deep belief that 4-3 cover 2 zone is the best play to defend 5 wide anywhere on the field...

but overall it comes down to if the cpu can win despite its multiple turnovers, i have yet to see a clean game by the cpu. just lost to alabama in a colorado state dynasty, AJ went 22-33 298yds 3td 3int we lost by 20. they had 5 turnovers i had 1 but they were faster and nothing was open ever....

on a side note something i enjoyed is at the team select screen it showed what type of offense that team ran well that is now gone. If you want to know that that team runs you have to go to the edit coach screen select him and go through the options.

so many new coaches at smaller schools i like to use online or in friendly's, its the little things.....

Had the worst glitch I've ever seen in NCAA. In a user vs user game I threw an INT in the end zone and instead of it being a touchback, it gave my opponent a touchdown. Besides that, I love it.

One of these years I wish they would fix the skinny arm RB glitch. So annoying.

This is why we say qb acc slider is not balanced enough.

At 0 qb wil hit 40% of their passes.
At 5 qb hits 75% of their passes.

No matter their rating.

I played this game all day yesterday and this morning. Already bored of it. Not worth 60$. All the reviews other then OS are spot on. I have the same feelings playing this that I had the previous years.

There are marginal changes, but they are no game changers. Too damn generic. The Infinity engine is a sloppy mess. It's just 1 on 1 tackling with defenders running into ball carrier like mindless robots. The assisted tackles don't record no more. It's just sloppy looking football.

13 was a lot smoother. I can't see this game or Madden in my PS3 trey all year over games like NBA 2K or The Show. Another wasted year. Hopefully they learn their lesson this gen and won't waste 7 more years of mediocre gameplay.

I am having an absolute ball with this game. Until I run into a game breaking glitch, I don't think that will change. Staying away from the impressions thread and the bugs thread is something I should have done a long time ago..

This is by far the best NCAA Football this gen, and iv'e officially retired my NCAA 06 PS2 version. Well done, EA

I have a feeling that no matter how many changes and how many improvements EA makes to their games, the claim of "it still feels the same" is going to be prevalent. Much like the people who will claim that the game is vastly different, gamers go out of their way to search for and then claim that things haven't changed or are vastly different. That's no fault to anyone. That's just the way things are.

The game doesn't feel the same to me. Sure, there are elements that have carried over from 13 to 14, some of which I don't care for at all. But the gameplay seems different enough to make it more enjoyable for me. And besides, there is nothing a really good slider set can't fix (besides the DB glitch from last year--of which Matt10 said is gone this year).

Something to try for those who make sliders is to take advantage of the different difficulties you can set for both offense and defense by combining them with the sliders. It might be the case that QB ACC on Heisman is ~40% at 0 and ~75% at 5. But is that the case on All-American?

I haven't really studied the coaching ratings closely. Some of the ones you mentioned sound weird, but you would have to go back and look at their entire careers. Like Tommy Tuberville has been much maligned in the media ever since he took the TT job, but he has had a great career as a coach. At Auburn he only had 2 losing seasons in the SEC (his first and last season). He won his division 5 times. He went to a bowl game 8 times. He finished ranked in the top 20 6 times and in the top 10 2 times. In 2004 he went undefeated and everyone I know who is serious about college football thinks they were robbed of the National Championship that year. People in the south were shocked when he got fired after one bad season in his last 9 years. That was all at Auburn.

He went to Texas Tech under the worst possible conditions. They had just fired a man who was a god to most TT fans. They wouldn't let Tuberville change the offense the way he wanted... they forced him to try to keep the Air Raid style of offense fans happy even though that is not what he does. They didn't like him and he didn't like it there. The media turned against him as well (he didn't do himself any favors either). Even with all this, he still had 2 out of 3 winning seasons there.

I said all that to say this, I don't have a big problem with his rating because I know where he came from and the success he has had prior to ESPN deciding he isn't a buzz-worthy coach. I maybe would rank him in the mid 20's, but I can see why he was ranked the way he is. He has a 130-77 record as a college coach. That's pretty darn good. Maybe if you investigate the other coaches, you will find there are reasons for their rankings. Or, maybe its just EA being EA again
