I played one and a half games on default AA, here are my thoughts. It's great but not perfect. For some reason defense kills my runs, you can thread off big ones, spin move doesn't work well, more to come.

Sounds like the typical Oregon game last year.

Read option for sure seems kinda OP at this point. Online is gonna be frustrating unless you get really good at defense.

I always control the safety and when they run a read option if the Qb keeps it then I'm the only one there to stop him. If I miss its a huge gain or TD most of the time.

So pretty much you can be a average player to run it but need to be a good player to shut it down

It would be great if you would share the sliders you found worked the best. Thanks !

well, i got to dig into the game last night, man, what a blast! the IE2 really does it for me. the running game just rocks. got a good feel for some stuff i can do slider wise to kind of even the playing field for myself.

it's weird, the field going north/south seems like it looks short, but then when you get a first down, or actually move down the field, it's like the field keeps coming. don't really know what i mean by that, just something i was pondering last night.

i put my sound sliders in from '13, made 2 adjustments, turned up the volume to the appropriate level, and was pleasantly pleased.

if my excitement wasn't already high enough, it increased for the retail version after last night.

i only played madden last year, well i can probably count how many times on 1 hand. the IE really impresses me now that its in the game i play.

It's one thing to proclaim the game as the best ever on this console gen. It's another thing to blindly ignore some of the issues that still remain after several years now.

The game is definetly worth purchasing but I'm not going to pretend as if it's a totally new game when in reality very few things have changed about it.
I'm not sure why this keeps being thrown around. I've played 10+ games of the demo and I do think it's a significant upgrade. Does that make me wrong? Of course there are flaws. There's a bunch of them. But - and this is the hilarious thing for me - is that there are flaws in EVERY other sports game I'm playing right now. Yet, because this game has such a stigma (a well deserved one), some people are never going to be able to accept that this series is just not going to reach where it should have been. That's a fact. So to me, it's ironic that the very same people who hate on this game year in and year out are the same people who have the highest expectations for it.

The difference is that some of us are able to look past those flaws and enjoy a video game for what it is, while others are looking for a perfect game of football that just isn't coming this generation of consoles. I'm really sorry for those of you who can't enjoy it, I am. But there's no reason to detract from those of us who are enjoying it.

I don't see anyone "blindly ignoring issues".

Maybe I just have been playing NCAA less and less every year so I don't easily notice the difference. But honestly for me the game looks and feel insanely close to the last 2 or 3 NCAA's.

Need more for what? Either it is or it isn't.

How is anything you read today going to change the final game when it does come out?

There are a lot of good sources here and over the years they aren't always right but what bearing does that have on you?

This is a serious question, not a trolling post. I just don't understand what bearing it will have on whatever decision your held up on.

If you want to hold off on the final version in order to make sure the glitch isn't there who if not mrprice is going to be able to convince you the demo is t the latest build?

I've found one major flaw in the Coordinator Cam (a flaw to me personally, anyway), and that is when you're backed up too far against your own end zone the camera shifts to almost a blimp camera. It's tough for me to play THAT high in the air. I've shifted to the Wide camera for now, testing that out for my personal preferences. I love the CCam for the other 98% of the time though.

I agree. I have seen that too many times in the past years where my WR is impeded by the DB and nothing called. I really hope this gets called with consistency this year.

I see the issue with your player not responding to your button presses on the controller in certain situations is still in the game.

If I want to jump to catch an INT or swat the ball, I should be able to when pressing the correct button.

If I want to dive on a lose ball, I should be able to. One of my major gripes with this game.

I miss the pile ups for fumbles. Not the button mashing but at least the pile up part. I agree with you if your the only one around a lose ball I want to be able to just dive on it. But if a fumble occurs in a populated area usually it turns into a pile with guys fighting for the ball.

I didn't do any adjustments on Varsity since I only tested one game on that difficulty.

On All American, however, I made some nice tweaks that I really liked.

First of all, the players move awkwardly fast on "normal" speed. IMO, the game plays more "heavy" and players are more deliberate and smooth as animations look more natural on "Slow" speed. "Very slow" is too much.

Also, speed threshold needs to be around 20 or 30 to showcase the impact of speedy guys in the college game. It also keeps the QB in the read option under control because LBs and and DBs run down the QB much quicker.

As for sliders... I felt like the CPU run blocks were nearly impossible to avoid and break. I lowered blocking a tick or two (40 or 45) and had good results. I thought the CPU was breaking way too many tackles (especially the QB) so I upped HUM tackling to 60 or 65. Lastly, and most importantly, the CPU pass coverage was getting way too psychic so I lowered the pass coverage slider to about 40 and the INT slider to 35. This really made a huge difference and set apart the good/bad route runners from the good/bad coverage guys. The good coverage guys were sticking in the hip pocket or receivers, but the LBs matched up on a WR or the poor Nickel guy would lose a step or two out of the break (which is how it is in real life). It doesn't mean I'm going to always see the open guy or make the throw, but players are open at some point on nearly every passing play. Before I made those slider changes that wasn't the case.

At this point, those are the only things I've messed with and I loved the way it played.

The demo gameplay was surprisingly better then I expected....but It wasn't good enough for me to shake my plan....which was to lay back and see how they handle the bugs/glitches and then maybe get it down the road when there is a deal

I hope the bugs/glitches don't overrun the game this year....because the game does seem like it'll be a lot of fun for those who have been able to cope with the series's legacy issues.

I'm sorry if this has been covered already but I haven't been around the forum as much the last couple days.

Unless I'm an idiot, which is possible, it appears that the there no longer is a button to cover the ball to avoid fumbling? Correct me if im wrong please

I just played VT (me) vs. Alabama and tested streak patterns, including 4 verts in various formations on heisman and ended up throwing 4 picks. Most of my testing was inside the 1 minute mark of each half, since that was typically when the db glitch happened most often in 13. I did adjust speed threshold to 20 and was on slow gameplay. Of course this was against Alabama, so its going to be interesting to see how lower rated teams play against streak patterns in the given situation. All i know is i could simply pick apart even Alabama on 13, but they destroyed my passing game in the demo. Promising, but its a small sample size.

EDIT: I was finally able to see the db glitch in the demo. However,i didnt see it running 4 verts. I seen it using the trips left hail mary play. I was Ohio State playing against Michigan. I didnt see it in the 1st half, but seen it late in the 4th while trailing 24-0. I managed to score quickly twice by using the hail mary to make it 24-16. The safety wasnt the problem here, it was every single db defending the trips receivers who came up and let the receivers blow by them. This is making it hard to be optimistic, but i really want to hold out until the retail version to see if it is in or not.

R1 (PS3) still does the cover animation so far as I can tell. Have to hold it down though as it doesn't appear to take effect the moment I press the button.
