So I didn't really like any of the documented changes up to now so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to buy this unless the demo blew me away.

Well, it blew me away alright, but not in a good way. The center just kept the ball instead of snapping it and got a 6 yard gain.

No thanks! Have fun guys ill be back on this forum in a year I guess

I'm loving this gameplay. I didn't think the running would ever feel as good as it does right now in this demo. Really, I didn't think it as possible. The passing game is kind of a question mark for me right now though. I really need instant replay so I can check reaction times and foot planting on particular routes. It also appeared that the QB accuracy is a bit high for me and what I would expect of a college Quarterback. I was pretty much able to put the ball wherever I wanted, and against any coverage on Heisman even - perhaps that's a little hyperbole but it was pretty easy.

+ The running game is sick from a ball-carrier perspective. You actually feel like an athlete with these new mechanics.

+ Blocking is improved dramatically in both the passing and running plays. For once, Pulling Guards will hit their assignment and blow up a unsuspecting tackler. There is a downside to this in the passing which I will get into in a moment.

+ The colors POP in this game, and I'm really impressed with the overall look of this demo given that there is so much missing from this game in terms of equipment, accessories, etc.

+ The new animations are quite interesting, although some played out more than others. The RB stiff arm taking the tackler for a ride is one that comes to mind.

---

- Ball Trajectory seems to have fallen back to being thrown on a rope again, but it appears to be masked by the LBs not attacking them like they did in 12 and previous years. Again, this isn't confirmed because I don't have replay to decide; I'm about 80% sure that it is though. I was never able to hit a receiver up and away from a defender like it is suppose to without hitting the lob pass button.

- Pass blocking is improved in the fact that the are efficient at completing their assigned block on a given play, but it comes at the expense of the Defensive Line. I was able to generate a ton of sacks in my many games, but it was due to the QB play being very quirky with it's under pressure AI. In a regular play, all four down players were stone walled and were locked into their block. Ideally you would want the defensive line to use something called leverage, frequently called "playing half-a-man", to rush the QB - maybe even try to get a hand in his face. This doesn't happen in the demo from my experience.

- No-Huddle will destroy you on Heisman. Not because you are an awful player or play caller, but because the play selection doesn't even appear until nearly after the CPU offense is set. Its almost as if the No-Huddle is taking up so much of my PlayStation 3's processor that it is unable to load on time. This is gotta be fixed; no excuses on that. It's apparent from the moment you boot up a game. As Cris Carter would say, "C'mon Man."

Graphically unimpressive. Looks the same.

Gameplay and presentation blew me away. Running seems a little OP though.

Will buy.

I like a lot of things, all mentioned above. Good to see that RBs don't attach themselves velcro-like to the back of blockers when you run too close to them.

I do not like the way the players look when the play is beginning and playing out. Blocky, cartoonish, arcade-like. Will have to go back to 13 to see, but this feels like a downgrade to realism.

I like that the return game is functional again, but the returner feels slow and sluggish (and looks blocky), especially for the first 10 yards.

Not crazy about the cameras. Feels too far away. Passing has lost its immediacy. Using zoom now.

The graphics sequence begins too soon after the TD. I like it, though.

I'm getting the game regardless b/c I always have but this definitely was a breath of fresh air for the 2013 football season!

The atmosphere in both the A&M/Oregon and VT/Bama games were AWESOME! Love the intros, the chants and the presentation.

I had two GREAT games as well, lost by a last second FG to A&M 10-7, then beat Bama in OT 21-14 after I got a pick in the endzone with seconds to go to force OT.

I threw a couple of picks with Mariotta and loved how fluid the game is after an INT.

The Coordinators Cam is growing on me. Normally I don't like to be that far away but you can simply see everything. I like it more for offense rather than defense wish it would automatically switch but that's just a preference of mine.

I'm digging Infinity Engine 2.0 as well. As Oregon I had a nice screen to DeAnthony Thomas where I had all my blocks set up and it was a race to the pylon. I got hit and stumbled into the endzone over two defenders for the TD.

Overall, I can't WAIT!

I would say demo hype. It's going to be an excellent game, but a large majority are playing through rose colored glasses.

Lets Start with the cons since I dont have a whole bunch.

CONS

1) I noticed a few plays were my player was clearly tackled and down and the whistler NEVER BLEW! IS that crazy or what?? The crazy thing was that players were still running around like nothing just happened.

2) Clear Interceptions........ Dropped.. Well done CB..

3) Some Weird tackling mechanics here and there. I had a WR bump into a LB and he just flopped like LeBron James.

4) Ive seen quite a few ppl get juked in my life.. but none like in NCAA 14.. Its not a bad thing, but some of the defenders bit on jukes that they shouldnt have.

PROS

1) THE JUKES ARE FKN NASTY! The Jukes cannot be contained.. Nuff said.. Love em.

2) The read option display is cool for players who aren't familiar with the RO or the ZO, but i love this feature as some defenses get complicated and the SS or LB becomes your target read and its key. The pitch read target is cool too.

3) The Live Game updating is pretty nice as well. Its good to see it every once in a while.

MORE COMING SOON!

-I saw that and thought the same thing. But it's happened to me about 4 times once on the goal line and I noticed my RB was laying on top of a linebacker. So it's nice to see they don't just blow the whistle if the ball carrier goes horizontal. Very realistic. I may be crazy and it's something they're correcting.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but there is overtime in the event of a tie at the end of regulation in the demo.

I understand that, but it's not like I'm asking the game to revert to power I. If I'm lined up in Shotgun I should be able to more easily and quickly change to a different slight variation of my shotgun offense. I shouldn't have to motion a receiver manually.

This game more than any other seems to be the most over hyped positive or negative on OS. I don't quite feel this is the "greatest NCAA ever" after one day with the demo. I did like it and am interested but need to play it more.

By July 30th we may have a bug thead a mile long with many people screaming for a patch and calling it unplayable. Gonna wait and see a little bit first I think.

To me they changed alot this year and its leaps and bounds clearly over they gave us last year. But u cant still see the EI still beening a wrk in progress and im thinking this is frm a early build so they may have fixed theses small issues. Its a small case of the Madden 13 legs being twisted under other players in that tackle anamation that has the players looking all bent in way u know something would b broke if that happen. But still im liking this so far and cant wait till the 9th. This game should take us into next gen.

# 473 Phobia @ 06/19/13 10:05 AM
I liked the changes a lot, but I'm holding out because I think if NCAA is this good, I can't wait to see Madden 25 on PS4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

# 474 okstate19 @ 06/19/13 10:09 AM
I liked the way it looked. It was nice to not look at a washed out yellowish-green field. All game. The colors pop to me.

I like the way it played. This is probably the biggest gameplay difference all of this gen, although 2008 to 2009 was a pretty big jump too.

I still think it's the best version of NCAA Football so far. I'm not really going to rehash what has already been said many, many times throughout.

My biggest complaint: Still no solid pass rush with the D-Line. Well, I couldn't really get one at least. But then again, I've yet to mess with any sliders.

Some people are surprised at the glitches. They're the same glitches that always plague the NCAA demos it seems. I've never experienced them in the retail version (gameplay glitches that is), so I'm not worried about it.

Day 1 buy for me. Will pre-order today.

So am I really the only person who notices the CPU STILL CHANGES THIER GAMEPLAN TO AGGRESSIVE IN ZONE COVERAGE?

I posted a video on page 44 or 45 showing the safety do the db glitch at the end of a half on a 4 very play.

If you switch sides during a game, you will most likely see the CPU has changed thier GAMEPLAN to aggressive in zone coverage

I actually tweeted this to them. Really like how the AI runs the ball on All American. Today I will play each game on Heisman.

It's probably been stated (can't comb through 10+ pages) but the colors really seem to pop this year. The game seems much more vibrant on PS3 at least.

True..
For me (and from someone who has passed on NCAA the last 2-3 years)
this is so far the most enjoyable FB game this gen.

Don't know whether to be happy or irritated that the best FB game this gen will also more than likely be the last game I buy this gen..
Been to long to feel this way about a FB game.

I love the coordinator cam and really had a blast playing.

Only 1 major glitch for me so far:

I was running the ball and had a straight path to endzone when the whistle blew when I was at the 5 yard line...
Every play after that the whistle would blow and play would end right at the snap and the commentary would go like it was a great D stop.
I had to reset the game.

I had the chance to get a few games in (PS3) and here are my early impressions:

Pros
+ The Demo was put together very, very well. The skills trainer is fun and a great way to test out the new gameplay mechanics.
+ It doesn't even feel like an EA football game. It feels like a new engine. It's pretty crazy. The players have weight to them.
+ The CPU AI on Heisman is insane. I have longed for a challenging AI and this year it appears the CPU will make you earn W's. In an OD this is huge as I get tired of seeing user teams ranked 1-12.
+ Running the read option has a tremendous fun factor. Using the pistol with TAMU was a freaking blast.
+ IE looks great and the new dive tackles are vital.
+ The acceleration burst was implemented great. I am definitely gearing my offensive attack to a ground attack.
+ Is it just me or does the CPU take better angles to make tackles?
+ Zone coverage is way, way better.
+ The offensive hot routes are amazing. The smoke screen hot route?!?!?! OMG YES PLEASE!!! *Madden give me this option PLEASE!*
+ The running locomotion & movement. Absolutely blown away by the CPU AI running decisions and how good the cuts/movement look.

Cons
- While the colors pop, they took away detail from the uniforms. That's just my early impression and I might be wrong. Really not a big deal to me.
- I get stuck in between camera angels. The "Normal" isn't playable if you use the option at all because you can't see defenders coming from the outside. I had a pitch intercepted because a defender came from off screen. The Wide/Coordinator cams are solid for game play
- I hate the audible system. I think Madden has it perfect with the D-pad hot route system. I'll get used to it but it's frustrating out of the gate.

Holding out judgment
# Is 4 Verts a money play still? I want to say it isn't but I just haven't had enough time to determine if it is or isn't. Busted coverage DOES happen so for those wanting it to be guarded perfectly every single time have unrealistic expectations.
# Is there going to be a bug that kills the game until a patch? I really, really hope we don't find one. I think the base of this game is phenomenal and am afraid a tweak will mess things up.

My plead to the NCAA team
~ For the love of everything holy, please do not tone down the CPU AI to "dumb it down" for people complaining about it being too good. Sliders are there for a reason and so are different difficulty levels. Tell people to get off their high horse and go down to Varsity if need be. Heisman should be a tremendous challenge.

I can't wait to get home from work and play a demo. When is the last time I was able to say that?

# 480 brutx15 @ 06/19/13 10:45 AM
Not sure how some are saying the DB glitch is still there and some are saying it is not. It is clearly still there... 4 verticals are working nearly every play with slot receiver hot routed. It is still broke. I can throw for 400 yards like nothing on Heisman, and I know I'm not that good, or everyone that is saying it is gone isn't that bad... If only I knew how to record video from my xbox...
