NCAA FOOTBALL 14 KICKS OFF FIRST GAME DETAILS

Play True to Your Team with Physics-Based Gameplay, Enhanced Dynasty and the Introduction of Ultimate Team

Today Electronic Arts Inc., revealed the first details of the upcoming NCAA football game, set to launch on Tuesday, July 9. EA SPORTS™ NCAA® Football 14, will unlock the unpredictability and innovation of college football with the introduction of real-time physics tuned with the collegiate game in mind plus new Dynasty experiences and the inclusion of Ultimate Team.

“This year marks the greatest leap forward in a generation for the NCAA Football franchise,” said Randy Chase, Marketing Director for EA SPORTS. “The inclusion of the Infinity Engine and several new gameplay features make this year’s game feel incredibly fresh and authentic, and the introduction of Ultimate Team will give fans the chance to take the field with some of the most well-known players of all time.”

Today EA SPORTS released the first producer video for NCAA Football 14.

New to NCAA Football 14 is the introduction of Infinity Engine 2, which unlocks the unpredictability and innovation of college football with the introduction of real-time physics and the new force impact system. The new engine creates a fresh experience, and opens up opportunities for user-controlled stumble recoveries and hard cuts. Furthermore, the force impact system enhances the power of truck moves and the Hit Stick, and creates more realistic and dynamic reactions when a runner attempts to stiff-arm a defender.

A renewed focus on the college-style option game allows you to play true to your team with over 30 new option types, all optimized for a true college football experience. Utilize the Spread Option, Zone Read and more to stymie defenses and put big points on the board. NCAA Football 14 highlights key defenders before the snap so fans can read their movements to know when to handoff, pitch or keep the ball. Play Action Option plays have also been evolved to make it easier than ever to fake the run, set up the throw and burn overly-aggressive defenders.

Additional information on NCAA Football 14 Playbooks will be released on the following dates:

Presentation (to be released 4/18) – NCAA Football 14 gets you closer to the action than ever before and tells the story of every game. Feel the drama of college football from a whole-new perspective.

NCAA Football Ultimate Team (to be released 5/15) – The much-beloved mode comes to the college game, allowing you to build up an unstoppable team.

Dynasty (to be released 5/28) – There’s no single path to success in college football, so build up your program into a powerhouse to fit your strengths and style of play by utilizing the brand-new Coach Skills.

Play a Season (to be released 6/17) – Focus purely on the on-field action and take your favorite team to a bowl game.

Experience a whole new game in NCAA Football 14 with the introduction of real-time physics and the Force Impact system. Gameplay has also been tuned with the college game in mind, with special attention paid to collegiate staples like the Spread Option offense.
  • Physics - The new and improved Infinity Engine 2 comes to NCAA Football, bringing with it renewed authenticity and enhanced realism.

  • Stumble Recovery - Fight gravity as you scramble for extra yards. Utilize the right control stick to try and regain your feet or lunge forward for that extra yard.

  • Force Impact Trucking and Hitting - Feel the power of physics as runners bowl over defenders or tacklers make a big hit on the ball carrier, all driven by the new Force Impact system. Also, utilize improved stiff-arms that take size and strength into consideration.

  • Running Game Improvements - The introduction of physics offers a suite of improvements to the running game, including hard run cutting for direction changes, improved run blocking and a new acceleration burst that lets you get around the corner or through the hole and into the open field.

  • Option Offense - Play true to your team with over 20 new option types, all optimized for a true college football experience. Utilize the Spread Option, Zone Read and more to stymie defenses and put big points on the board. Highlight key defenders before the snap and read their movement after to know when to pitch the ball and when to keep it.

Th thing about the option is that not all types are designed to put up "big points." It all depends on how aggressive a team is. Hopefully EA gets that...

Not getting on the hype train until I see that the mirror/psychic defense is gone.

It's mind boggling. Heck they could go to a local high school and get guys who are coached basic fundamentals to do things like that. Give them a free copy of the game for helping. I seriously can't comprehend how such a huge company with what would seem very deep pockets for this game can cut corners that are so pivotal to the products authenticity. With the changing of the guard atop EA, you wonder if things will get better or worse. They have to realize they are sitting on a potential goldmine with an outstanding college game. The NFL is huge, but college football is everywhere. Things appear better going forward, But when I was playing NCAA titles 10 years ago, I guess I thought this series would have went so much further than it has by now.

I remember the first time I played a 360 version of NCAA after finally shelving my old PS2 I had played so many good games on. I remember clearly thinking when I played that first 360 game how amazing the graphics looked, but how dull the atmosphere felt, then how poorly the players jerked and twitched around when they ran. It's like the removed their hips and backs. They stopped leaning into the runs and cuts.... then I thought... ahh they'll fix that......

Thanks to Sim for dropping in with some knowledge and thanks to the guys who asked some great follow up questions.

So is it settled then? This gen EA football games are hampered by the weak engine that Madden 06 was built on? So is it unrealistic for anyone to expect major improvements current gen due to this? If yes, I can understand that.

What disturbs me most about this is the fact that ppl refuse to stop buying these games current gen (myself included I'm no hypocrite.) Our lust for football blinds us. Even if EA screws up the foundation next gen and we find ourselves in another 8-9 yrs cycle of disappointment one thing is certain...ppl will go out and buy their football games.

Had a huge smile on my face after reading that because I was in the exact same place back then, as many of us were. I kept saying to myself "the player movement would be fixed."

I hear ya. We all know without a shadow of a doubt, there is a company that could produce a better quality product than EA, but our love for NCAA and NFL football causes us to buy the game just to feed our football fix. I remember back in the ps2 days I could play for 8hrs a day, now it's like I can barely finish one game. The fun factor is just not there anymore, unless your playing against another human.

sorry if this was already mentioned, but I think this will be a lot like Madden 13 was this year. A lot of gliding and skating around the field. Which could be a good thing.

Where did it say they are redoing IE? Everything I've heard is that they simply kept improving on it from its last version, not redo it.

This is still not true physics. It is better animations yes, but not physics (check the vid again when you see the WR get clipped and thee other players have on effect on his body and landing). The trucks are tied to animations. So was the stiff arm. They were smaller backs completely running over bigger defenders and knocking them off of their feet.
The cutting was better to see finally, but again if the broken tackles are tied to animations and not positioning then it totally useless tech. Please it looks better, but if everything is still tied to animations and not momentum and positioning. It is only cosmetic.
I wonder if the O-Line double teams on pass protection yet?
Is there real total control passing this year or is it just dictated int's again and high jumping defensive players?
EA you look good again, but the smoke and mirrors have to stop at some point.

I just had to write this I'm just happy to see that there are gamers that care about the product they buy on OS. It's not nit picking they just want a great experience not a shell of another shell of another shell etc... every year especially since we are the ones paying for it. I didn't buy last years version of NCAA after I saw my friends playing it and RyanMoody21's youtube vids and didn't buy Madden13 after I saw my friends fly and trip all over the field in on the retail version[ and RyanMoody21's youtube vids lol]. I really want NCAA14 to be good..so I can start back playing football games but in the meantime...

Keep up the good fight folks!!

Kudos to the guys that care!!!

I was on the fence about NCAA 13 last year after the debacle that was 12, I bought it anyway. I kept the game for about a month before I decided to get rid of it.

I am not buying another NCAA football game until at least it comes out on the next gen consoles. This video has showed me absolutely NOTHING. "Features" that should have been in since NCAA 08 AT LEAST. These are some of the basic fundamental football concepts and they're touting them as FEATURES for the LAST game of this gen of consoles?

The fact that some people here on OS are actually excited about this boggles my mind. The same guys who just a few months ago said they would never buy another NCAA game again and that they wouldn't fall for the hype train. I'll see you same guys in about 3 months complaining about all the bugs, trying to find "workarounds" for things that work, and reporting some sort of game breaking Dynasty glitch.

The amount of torture some of you put yourself through is just nuts to me. EA keeps fooling the majority of you and I don't know why you let them. Foot planting, line play, a RB cuts and stiff arms should NOT be features, it's basic football!!!

# 174 jpb07 @ 04/10/13 03:18 AM
Not falling for it again. Let's remember, they were hyping more realistic play a few years back when they added momentum and scaled the ability to "cut on the dime" way back. Now they are suddenly reversing course? Sorry...unless they also build in a vastly increased probability for injuries using such moves, they've gone right back to the same old crap. The game was preordered a few weeks back and after seeing that video, the order was just cancelled. Stop catering to the damn cheesing crowd aka the idiots you had on the bus for your weekly Madden show a few years back. I've been burnt buying roster updates and reintroduction/removal loops of features by the company recently rated "Worst Company in the Nation." Never Again.

Didnt read the whole thread, sorry if someone already mentioned this

but..

Are they seriously advertising the back juke as new? I think thats now been a 'new' feature in like 3 different versions of NCAA/Madden.

Marketing said it was new, Ben Haumiller stated in an interview piece, "they added it back in."

I think the inclusion of cuts mapped to left stick movement is good but is it just cosmetic, meaning the players still change direction too easily, gliding into space, just with a cut animation playing out. I hope someone understands what I am talking about and can maybe clarify what I might be missing here.
I must be the only one who noticed multiple players still performing the same animations at the same time or the 3 defenders running in a straight line following the ball carrier showcasing that once again pursuit angles are neglected and that the defenders simply follow every move the ball carrier makes. Is it just laziness or simply a refusal to eliminate the duplicate repetitive animations? Or is it simply impossible to accomplish? Will the same problems persist on next gen consoles? We will soon find out.

So physics this year, OL/DL interaction next year? I'm guessing we will see the OL/DL interaction overhaul on Madden then....

# 179 TCFClemson @ 04/15/13 10:58 AM
Hopefully it will be a FULL RTP system not a half *** one we have now. If you arent going to do it for Line play then there is no point.

I have enjoyed every NCAA football game put out but NCAA 06 is my favorite until something emerges as better It just the BEST Overall Experience

But back on Topic I'm really looking foward to this years game and I want the jukes to look sharp and crisp not the half down stuff we been getting
