I am in year 2018 with the Astros. I have a 25 year old 99 catcher that simmed 40 bombs.. So awesome. I looked at my team recap and he was a 3rd round pick in 2013. My 1st is a 85 overall B 3bman. and I have a good pitcher I got 4th round.. I have had 2 years with no one really on my starting team but that class was a beast.
Definitely didn't see that kind of progression in previous years!
I'm only one opinion but All Star is best for me. I know it's early but I always have used All Star.
The changes I make are as follows:
-Reduce solid hits for both down to 2
-Reduce cpu pitcher sliders to 2
-Reduce cpu throw strikes to 0 (this slider only affects early count according to the description and it has reduced the first pitch strike to mirror real stats, which I believe is a little over 50%
This will improve hitting because you'll get in to better hitter counts
-increase cpu power by 1 (I enjoy fearing power hitters) it forces me to be careful and, since I use Classic pitching, I wince every time I let the pitch fly because I never know if it's gonna drift over the plate.
I use contact swing unless I have 2 strikes AND am behind in the count. That's when I use the circle button swing.
I have hit home runs with the circle button swing with power hitters so I don't worry about using it.
As far as pitching goes, don't be scared to walk a power hitter. Also, get ahead of them if possible. Lots of them will take a first pitch strike.
The cpu knows whats a fast ball count. On 2-0 and 3-1 especially, they're looking for a fb in the zone. Surprise them with a Bender or a Change Up.

CPU Strike frequency for me is at 2 right now, so I'll leave it at that for abit.
I'm gonna use same sliders as I did on veteran, but reduce CPU contact and increase my contact.
Only thing though...I wanna increase amount of hits I get, but I also don't want all my hits to make contact with the ball(cause then it'd lead to lower pitch count from CPU if all the time I swing, ball is in play)
Hahaha I agree. Hopefully next year they re-do the body types, because I don't think there is one person in the real MLB who is actually as fat as the "fat" body type in MLB 13 The Show....
I find it strange how I increase my hitting difficulty, but the CPUs hitters suddenly become better hitters.
They go from averaging 3 runs per game, to doubled that.
Maybe it's just pulse pitching? Guess I just gotta realize that no matter what I do, I'm basically forced to throw 80% strikes on analog pitching over realistic pitching on pulse cause on pulse, CPU kills my pitcher no matter who he is.
YES! I have gotten my redemption finally... Playing in my 3rd postseason after getting knocked out of the first 2 during the Wild Card game with the Red Sox... This time Im in the NL with the Braves, I beat the DBacks in the WC game and then in Game 1 NLDS vs the Reds I was down by 1 with 2 outs in the 9th and a guy in 2nd when... BJ Upton blasts a 2 runs shot to take the lead! Kimbrel came in the shut the door... Finally I came back and won rather than the other way around...
Also, I played the Challenge of the Week, what a difference!
They did great with it this year, I remember last year I would swing away and hope I made contact. With the hitting window opened a bit I can now see the pitch and decide... Even though I only got like 70,000ish points or something like that, it was a blast to play... and its free now!
Also I played my first HRD online with Middlebrooks and... WON! patience is key, also solid contact lol... can get a little intense watch everyone's HR and outs going up but it was very very fun...
One thing that I'm starting to get annoyed with. Playing the Nats in a three game set. Through 10 innings, Bryce Harper has 3 stolen bases. Each one has come on a called pitch out. If I can't get him when I "know" he is stealing whats the point?

He doesn't have great speed so that is surprising. If Harper can do that, Trout should do that and steal third as well, while the catcher throws to second

Memo to self: "reduce base runner speed or steal ability"
Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't messed with base running sliders and I'm not home yet but am scared if I lower runner speed it may affect my base stealers.

I love this game. My only problem is lack of discipline in the hitting department. I had a Perfect Game thrown against me today in which I struck out 18 times! Safe to say I will be spending some time in Batting Practice . My pitching isn't bad, though I do make silly fielding mistakes as well that usually cost me. I love the challenge though and I'm looking forward to my first 0-165 season
One highlight I have had is throwing two people out at home (seperate games)
Not really surprised since I was expecting it, but I could count the number of SCEA pitchers who were given a running fastball or a circle-change on one hand... The number of pitchers with 2-seams and sinkers as their primary pitch is great though
Just watched a TOR vs DET (cpu vs cpu) game where R.A. Dickey threw a no hitter. The last out was a fly ball to straight away center that was caught on the track. Matt V and I thought it was gone. The Cpu vs Cpu in this game is awesome
I don't know if this was asked, but what do ya'll think of the intro video? I think this is the first time in years that it was not of real life footage.
