  • The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo features one of the most compelling modes in franchise history – Legends of the Majors. The featured challenge, 1961 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, puts players in the shoes of golf legend Arnold Palmer, in the 1960’s era, with the legend’s era-specific attire, equipment and skills. Once the challenge is passed, gamers will unlock 1960’s Arnold Palmer for use in the full version of the game.

  • Golf in a “Twenty-foursome” through our all-new Connected Tournaments mode in the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo. Compete online against other players or friends and see as many as 23 shot arcs from other players on the course at the same time. Players can get a jumpstart on creating their country club tournaments by going to the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 website.

  • The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo will support motion control and continue the level of immersion as fans can play the demo with Kinect for Xbox 360 or Sony PlayStation Move controllers.

I am ecstatic that the career mode is more involving this year and full season stats are back. I was one of the biggest whiners in previous years complaining how boring career mode had been so this is like Xmas for me. Stats, season and the ones that occur as you play gives the mode so much more replay value.

Will there be a a notification alert like they had a couple of years ago which would post what the top of the leaderboard would be doing as you play? If I was on a certain hole, an alert would come up saying another golfer just birdied or bogeyed on another hole. That was a good feature that should have never been taken out.
Agreed. I loved that feature. I also would like in the 2/3/4 day tournaments what you've done on previous days on each hole. If I'm on hole 12 and ive gotten birdie par birdie on that hole the previous days it should show that as I come to the tee. Even have the broadcasters mention it sometimes. It would add a lot to the tournament/presentation feel of the game.

Can I still sue a belly putter but just not anchor it to my belly?

Sorry that is not a serious question I am just still annoyed by that ruling. Only because my coach finally convinced me to go to a belly putter at the start of last year, it took me the whole season to get use to it and now I have to ditch it.

Anyway nice write up.

Sometimes you have to tell coaches no. They don't know everything.

How did that work out for Tiger Woods?

Sorry back on topic.

- You can win 3 events and earn the battlefield promotion, which is an instant PGA TOUR card.
- You can win the money list before the playoffs and earn a PGA TOUR card.
- If you finish 2nd-50th/75th (not sure which, but its one of them) you earn a spot in the web.com playoffs. If you finish top X (not sure what number that is either) in the playoffs you earn a PGA TOUR card.
- If you miss the playoffs or finish out of top X in playoffs you have to replay web.com tour.
- But once you do advance to PGA TOUR, you will never get demoted.

We don't have the specific notification like you saw in Tiger 11. However, the new broadcast presentation banners will keep you updated on scores/stats/etc. throughout your round and should provide you with a lot of cool info that hasn't been in the game before.
Nice, still sounds like a lot of fun. Is there an amatuer season like there is in 13? Also I read in your blog if you win the US Am, you get invited to play in the us open. Is this correct? Is there no option to play in the masters as an amatuer anymore?

However, you only play the final round of the applicable major, and you have no shot at winning. You are actually in position to try and win Low Amateur at the event. We found that having you play a Major right away and likely win it (in the case of most users) took away from the experience of grinding your way to it in career. And we figured that winning the Low Amateur was a more realistic career milestone.
That's cool. So did I read correct that the only amatuer tournament you play this year is the us/British/ or Asian am. There is no season of amatuer tournaments you play through. Just start at whatever national am tournament? I hope that question made sense

Hands, thanks for all the info. You guys really stepped up in terms of adding eye candy to career mode and giving it some depth. Not sure why you waited so long to release this blog because there are alot of positive changes, I really wasn't expecting this much improvement because I thought the blog being released a few days before the game came out would mean minor changes at best but I'm happily wrong about that.
Agreed. Like I said, I'm not much of an online gamer. I play mainly sports games and it's solely for the simulation aspect of them. Grinding thorough seasons and chasing championships in the career/dynasty modes. I loved tiger woods games like 10 years ago as a party game but I was not impressed with their seasons back then, they were too easy, so once I stopped living with people that I played tiger with I stopped buying them. I think my gap was from about 2004 or 2005 through 2012. I got roped back in because of Augusta and the improvements I read about in the career mode with being able to adjust ai scores. And so I got 12 and 13 and now this is the closest to what I've always wanted a golf game to be with the additions to 14.

I still think the 2 things lacking are the fully dynamic career having to battle to stay on tour. And I think they need a Ryder cup and presidents cup. I know that with all the licenses there's only so much they can do, and I agree with the 4 majors instead of one of those. But I think ea should look into generic name tournaments that are the Ryder and presidents cups with different names like the have done with all the majors in the past. I would love to have those tournaments because of the fun aspect of them and something else to work for throughout the seasons, not because of the names/license. On the other hand I think it adds so much more to have all 4 real majors and I actually did not enjoy playing most the majors because of their lack of names and such. They just felt like another tournament, where a generic Ryder cup would still feel like a Ryder cup tournament without the name because of the differing playing style.

But other than those 2 things, this is everything I've wanted this series to be, so thank you to the entire team at ea. I'm sure there will be things that can use tweaks to improve, but overall I think this is going to set a new level as far as golf games go for me and what I've been wanting. Oh and not to mention playoffs for ties!!!!!!! It sucks that using a shot arc is showing someone's likeness because that is the only other thing that I would want is to see at least what my playing partners were doing and what my opponent in playoffs were doing each shot, but that would require licensing every name in the game and that's simply too much for the franchise. But playoffs is a very welcome addition that I am happy to see.

Overall, I'm stoked, one week to go!!!!!

The one thing I would like to see that isn't probably in this years game is more immersive cut scenes and commentary that reacts specifically to the situation. I want the commentators to note how important a certain shot is when you near the top on the back 9 in the 4th round or show a cut scene that accurately depicts the situation at hand so when you hit a big putt to take the lead on the 17th hole then it shows a cut scene showing a big reaction.

It would also be nice to have a post tournament celebration and trophy ceremony when you win and highlights package of your best (and worst)shots of any round you play.
Everything you just described are what I consider "the little things that make a good game great" I loved the depiction you gave there, it was spot on. This is some of the stuff I've always wanted as well. It would take the game from a fun game of chasing championships, to an experience. Hopefully we will see this come into play on next gen games.

I still don't like how wherever you point the marker is the max that you can swing at. I just wish they would give us an arrow like we have now at the max distance of that club, and we would have to judge the backswing by ourselves.

That is only if you hit the shot with Perfect/Perfect swing speed and tempo. If you hit with Overswing/Fast you will hit it farther than what the marker says. Same if you hit any other swing combination other than Perfect/Perfect, your result will be shorter or longer depending on your execution of the swing.....

True and I just figured out that I could just do this myself (extend the marker all the way out to max distance) it's a bit of a pain but still, it's do-able.

Right. Try putting the marker about half way, you'll only be able to take half a swing. Like say your in the trees 10 yards off the fairway, and need to hit sideways or even backwards to get out. All you have to do is move the marker about 10 yards the fairway and take a full swing. Doesn't matter much on over/under or fast/slow....

Yes, this issue ruined the game experience for my friends and I on TW13.

I think that was a terrible choice by the devs, and I won't buy this game because of it.

Not a game breaker for me. Just odd. They're moving in the direction of realism and this was previously implemented. Confusingly why they went away from it.

Just snagged a copy from the regular Ebay connect. Historic Edition $64.99 with free shipping but of course I paid for overnight as always. Copy should be here in the morning. Since my EA ticket has expired and the fact I can pretty much get any game that interest me early, this was a no brainer for me.

For those who do free shipping you probably would have it by Sat if you order early enough today

14 hours until we can download it for those who have EA's Season Ticket!

I just pre-ordered the Masters Edition. My decision was pretty easy considering I had $55 in Amazon money. What surprised me was I had a random $10 off promo for trading in games between specific dates. So all in all I ended up paying $4.14. Pretty good deal.

Anyway I haven't bought a TW game since the PS2 days. I've played 12 and 13, just never bought them. A couple reasons I've disliked the game are the lack of simulation difficulty, and not having to think about my shots. I'm not saying I mastered the game at all, I just never felt like I was clinging on to save par, or really having to think in order will my way to make birdie. The game just felt like it was always drive the ball, hit my second shot on the green, and then putt one or two times. It was just so dang repetitive. I was never faced with tee shots going into the woods or having bad lies. While reading the impressions on the simulation difficulty it seems that many people are facing much tougher second shots because of bad tee shots. This is what really excites me about this game.

I'm hoping with the addition of simulation difficulty, it won't make this game feel as repetitive for me. I'm extremely excited to download this on season pass tomorrow. I didn't get around to downloading the demo, and figured there was really no point in playing it when I could play the full version two or so weeks later. If all goes well with the game this weekend, it looks like I will finally own a golf game again.
