Tiger 14 News Post

The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo is available now for Xbox 360 users (queue it up here). It weighs in at 1.98 GB.

PS3 users will have to wait until later this afternoon, when the PS Store updates.

UPDATE: The PS3 demo is available now.

Fans Get First Taste of Innovative Gameplay Features

Experience golf from the past and present, and play as golf icon Arnold Palmer in the all-new Legends of the Majors mode, experience the LPGA Tour and get a taste of the Connected Tournaments feature where players can compete online with friends.
  • The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo features one of the most compelling modes in franchise history – Legends of the Majors. The featured challenge, 1961 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, puts players in the shoes of golf legend Arnold Palmer, in the 1960’s era, with the legend’s era-specific attire, equipment and skills. Once the challenge is passed, gamers will unlock 1960’s Arnold Palmer for use in the full version of the game.

  • For the first time in franchise history, the game will feature LPGA integration and gamers can get a preview of the LPGA via the all-new Quick Tournaments feature. Players can use LPGA golf phenom Lexi Thompson on a new course – Oak Hill Country Club.

  • Golf in a “Twenty-foursome” through our all-new Connected Tournaments mode in the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo. Compete online against other players or friends and see as many as 23 shot arcs from other players on the course at the same time. Players can get a jumpstart on creating their country club tournaments by going to the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 website.

  • The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo will support motion control and continue the level of immersion as fans can play the demo with Kinect for Xbox 360 or Sony PlayStation Move controllers.

Depending on how much of a swing you needed (full backswing or short), you would adjust to how far you pulled the joystick back on the controller. Does this TW not do that? You just point to where you want to go and pull back to 100% every time? I get that you still have to execute it properly, but I'm curious if that is how this TW plays.

yes 100% goes to the point you aim at... I loved the Links 2004 swing control, the backswing controlling the distance the ball will fly. short of them building in choking down on the grip would be the most obvious way to control distance

I find myself in the demo moving the aiming point to 100% of the club just so I can use the backswing to control distance the way I want (especially with wedges)

Yes you are. Why do you always take everything so personal?

He made a simple observation and you took it as an insult, not sure why.

Not sure how you figure. I don't take anything personally. Can I not respond to another person's statement without being accused of taking things personally? It's over with. Time to move on.

Hands, what time can we expect to see this blog? I'm stoked to read about the updates?

Links 2004 was awesome - I still play it from time to time.

HSG OOB lets you control distance by backswing only as well. It's an awesome method that is easy to learn but takes a long time to master.

I personally loved TW 08 PC with the 3-click - it was super tough, but super fun with the meter. I'm old school though.

Loved that game too and the 3-click in TW10...It would have been nice to have the 3-click as an option but not a deal breaker.

Three click in TW2000 for PC was easily the toughest 3-click I have ever played. TW08 Trueswing was really challenging as well with the mouse.

Unfortunately two major issues have kept 3-click out of Tiger since TW13....

1) Less than .01% of all users played 3-click

2) 3-click is no longer compatible since EA introduced TSC (Total Swing Control) in TW13....

With the addition of the money list and the new format with q school, is the career fully dynamic? Meaning do you actually have to earn your way into q school by your amatuer performance, and to move from web.com to PGA? Or will you automatically get moved up to each stage after playing so many tournaments in the previous stage? Also once your on the PGA tour, do you have to earn your card for future years? Can you get sent back to the web.com tour if you are not hacking it on the PGA tour? Or once your in the PGA tour you are there no matter how you perform?

Yeah, this is an awesome feature. Increases the longevity of the game for me big time. Kudos to EA!

That took longer than we hoped and we ran out of time to get the backwards progression into the game. So once you advance, you won't go back.
Well I'm happy to hear that it was at least an idea. I think that will do wonders for the longevity and realism of this franchise when you can get it implemented. So I hope to see it in the future. Thanks for the insight. I can't wait until the 26th. I may even have to get an Xbox live gold membership so I can check out the country clubs this year. That look like a lot of fun.
