Tiger 14 News Post

The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo is available now for Xbox 360 users (queue it up here). It weighs in at 1.98 GB.

PS3 users will have to wait until later this afternoon, when the PS Store updates.

UPDATE: The PS3 demo is available now.

Fans Get First Taste of Innovative Gameplay Features

Experience golf from the past and present, and play as golf icon Arnold Palmer in the all-new Legends of the Majors mode, experience the LPGA Tour and get a taste of the Connected Tournaments feature where players can compete online with friends.
  • The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo features one of the most compelling modes in franchise history – Legends of the Majors. The featured challenge, 1961 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, puts players in the shoes of golf legend Arnold Palmer, in the 1960’s era, with the legend’s era-specific attire, equipment and skills. Once the challenge is passed, gamers will unlock 1960’s Arnold Palmer for use in the full version of the game.

  • For the first time in franchise history, the game will feature LPGA integration and gamers can get a preview of the LPGA via the all-new Quick Tournaments feature. Players can use LPGA golf phenom Lexi Thompson on a new course – Oak Hill Country Club.

  • Golf in a “Twenty-foursome” through our all-new Connected Tournaments mode in the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo. Compete online against other players or friends and see as many as 23 shot arcs from other players on the course at the same time. Players can get a jumpstart on creating their country club tournaments by going to the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 website.

  • The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 demo will support motion control and continue the level of immersion as fans can play the demo with Kinect for Xbox 360 or Sony PlayStation Move controllers.

I fear that most of the hardcore crowd is going to go sim, while most of the ******s will go tour pro or below. For people that only play offline, they can customize it however they want, but this isn't the largest online community and it might be a little harder to find the right difficulty with good people.

On that note, is anyone interested in a cc on 360 on either tour pro or tourney difficulty??
I hear ya Kerosene.....what might be interesting would be for any Sim-only CC to mix in some tournaments with the Zoom to target on and see what kind of scoring results and participation is like. If enough folks want to play with those settings, mix them up 50/50. As of today, I prefer the current default settings on Simulation, but I am willing to try playing with Zoom to Target. Does that sound reasonable.....?

I see what you're saying, Kerosene. I think players between Tour/Pro and Sim difficulty online will depend on how EA sets up the online tournaments. It won't be an issue in CC, though so at least you have that. I guess only time will tell.

This is one of the reasons that I hate demos. We just aren't finished with the game yet. It is fairly stable at the point of it being made, but there are still edge case stability issues that will cause all sorts of crashes. I know running into these types of issues in a demo can easily turn a gamer away from the game.

The thing you can count on is the fact that a solid 5-6 weeks of hard work was put into the game after the demo went out the door. We fixed a ton of bugs in that time.

I had the same problem at first. Deleted and downloaded again, no problems since.

With all due respect last years finished game froze on a lot of people. Myself I only had it happen once but in our CC we had several users who would constantly complain of freezes.

So much so we had to remove the round attempt limits so people wouldn't get DQ.

I hope this won't be the case this year but you can surely see why people would be concerned.

The demo is 3 months older code than final and Hands and the Dev Team told us thy were spending additional additional Dev time polishing TW14....I hope it pays off.
Hello! Thanks for the response. Same here but on the PS3 version. I'm ready for this bad boy to drop.

Excellent. Thank you for the update. Looking forward to the finished product.

Handsward and the entire Dev team are painfully aware of how '13 froze on alot of people, myself included. I can tell you from experience that playing the Alpha builds during TW CD were easily the most stable I had ever played on, including released versions. I am hoping like you and everyone else that the 5-6 weeks spent polishing the final build of TW14 will alleviate the freezing issues many experienced in TW13.....

I'd only be playing on tournament at the highest anyway, so that wouldn't matter to me (I can't read greens at all without the grid, every putt just looks flat to me). Others might be interested though.

I really only play my cc online (great feature by the way!).

I'm 100% in to try Simulation in the final (no demo for me). However my concerns about putting w/o a grid are similar to kerosene's; I have a lot of trouble with the 2d aspect of it. The grid makes up for not 'feeling' the green under your feet or being able to walk around the cup to size things up. I tried with no grids the past two years and man, it's tough. But....people do play that way with some success, so I gotta give it a fair shot so I can go 'sim' all the way in the CC.

If enough of us struggle and moan over it though, we might end up customized just to include the grid.

Good to hear. Like I said I never had a freeze but I wasn't a fan of setting the attempts limit for rounds in a tourney above 1. I guess I don't trust people's competitive natures even when it's just a video game

I know it is impossible to tell if someone quit or crashed so I don't see a real solution to the problem unless instead of DQing an individual you just gave them a score equal to the worst score submitted or something.

Which opens up a whole other can of worms so I just talked myself out of that lol.

i think, for now, a tweener difficulty between tournament and sim works well for me and prob some others that arent completely happy with default sim.

Just one more week until early release. I'm kind of looking forward to getting in a game of skins online on sim difficulty. It was fun last year, but this time around there should be a bit more drama during putting.

What do you mean "until early release"?

I'm talking about the EA Sports season ticket program. If you're enrolled you get to download the game early a few days before it comes out and get 20% off DLC. Last year they also included some pretty nice clubs.

He means the EA Sports "Season Ticket" release that runs March 22 - 25, if I read your question correctly... well he beat me to it

Another UPDATE: It will going live first thing Monday morning. Couldn't get all the approvals in time to where it wasn't going to get posted until 7 or 8 tonight. They would rather go with a fresh story for first thing in the morning Monday. Sorry for any confusion I may have brought on.

I am sorry you feel differently. If enough folks feel like you do, then EA will likely take notice and consider changes in TW15. At the end of the day, this is their true "simulation" effort and it will likely evolve as the game evolves.
Yeah - I agree that its good that they are trying to find a way to make the game more challenging for those that want it. Like you said - I'm sure its one of those things they will refine in next years game. I really enjoy the game on tour pro regardless...may have to pick up this years version.
