The Tigers obviously benefited from me being in their farm system

The more I look at this the more I'm convinced this is wrong. I'm going to wait until the first roster update to see if this is some messed up joke.

The guy who got the game early must have done some editing.

Plenty actually. None of those serve as a rebuttal to what I just said. They're a hard sell being better than the 6th best team in the AL, let alone MLB. They're just in the right division.

Enjoy this moment, because when October roles around...you won't be so happy about it! Gotta love the Giants-Dodgers rivalry. I just wished MLB would set the Dodgers up for the Giant's first home series. Just so they could watch the ring ceremony and have to sit through all the hoopla.

I mean I''m not saying that that is what i believe, but there is more than enough reason to believe they should be that high.
Vegas prediction means nothing to me. Although not perfect, my top 15 would look like this

1. Giants
2. Tigers
3. Yankees
4. Nationals
5. Angels
6. Cardinals
7. Reds
8. A's
9. Rangers
10. Blue Jays
11. Rays
12. Braves
13. Dodgers
14. Phillies
15. White sox

I am a red sox fan and did not even list them. Based on 2012 regular season performance, 2012 post season and off season moves, this imo is the way it should look.

I agree on the division. Last years stats aren't representative of them with Martinez however.

You can put their lineup/pitching rotation against anyone in the league with (arguably) the best pitcher and hitter in the game. The Tigs are pretty easy to defend.

I understand, it's all opinion, but you said there is no reason for them to be that high, but I'm just saying there is plenty reason for them to be that high, as evident by what many other believe.

I just love reading all these comments. Everybody's favorite team is ranked too low while all the other teams are ranked too high. Incredible.

# 149 Lovesports @ 02/22/13 08:25 PM
I have them 10th instead of 5th. Im not saying they suck...I'm just saying that they haven't done anything other than have a good off season. That doesn't always translate to wins. They still need to prove it on the field like the other teams have.

Hey man, in my case...it's true! No love whatsoever for the World Champs.

I feel like I just got married and my wife told me on our honeymoon that I was the 17th best she ever had in bed. But I thought I was the best!

*confidence shattered

You're #1 in my book handsome

The Jays "won" the offseason but I'm a Marlins fan... and (except for Pujols) we "won" the offseason last year. And it came together to smell like a giant turd. And then the Jays went and grabbed four Marlins, four guys from a team that lost 93 games.

Toronto is great, and I'm a closet Jays fan since my childhood... but as a Marlins fan first, I know that the Jays have done NOTHING until the season plays out and we see if the offseason translates to in-season wins.

They added talent, yes, but based on the 2012 of that talent (except for RA Dickey), theres no guarantees for Toronto.

It wouldn't surprise me if whoever made/compiled this "overall team ratings" list spilled coffee all over their keyboard while doing so..

Just cause you win the WS doesn't make you the best team next year. Should SF be in the top 10? yes. Are they too low? yes. But you act like they are by far the best team in the MLB. Washington and Stl are just as good as SF in the NL and I would say LA too, heck Kershaw's injury is why you won the division. It's cool being a fan and it is outrageous that they are ranked so low but please dont be so biased plus when the OSFM's come out all will be well.

This thread reminds me of Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament with everyone hooting and hollering about how their team got shafted in seed number or what region they were shipped out to. Then the games begin and all is forgotten.

Will team ratings even matter once everyone has their copy on March 5th and after the first roster update drops?

M's not a 23rd ranked defense. With proof.

Almost every Mariner starter was given a D in fielding last year (including Ryan), probably more of the same for '13... And this is why I edit every SCEA player before starting a franchise lol

Who are essentially replacing Figgins and Carp... Not exactly a big drop in defense there...

Whoa whoa...ease up there. I was more or less making a joke. I never said I thought the Giants should be number 1. I was stating that 17 is ridiculously low for a team who won the World Series just 5 months ago.

And where is this Kershaw injury gave the Giants the division bs coming from? 2nd time I read this. The Giants won the division by 8 games! Kershaw made 33 starts last year. He only missed a couple starts. Assuming they won those games...they still lose the division.

The Giants play a winning brand of baseball. They just don't do it with home runs (except in clutch moments). This rating shows that it's heavily weighted towards home runs and power numbers. I agree though, they might not be the overall best team, but a team that proves they can WIN should be a lot higher. Winning is the name of the game after all.
