Any chance that we get to see some snapshots of player ratings sometime soon?

Would love to see the upgraded attributes for Oakland's pitching staff

How is Toronto too high? In 2012 to start the year, they were ranked 12th by ESPN and 9th by Yahoo in power rankings.

Since then, they've done nothing but improve their team, so being 5th I wouldn't say is too high.

What people need to remember is that the 2012 Jays team BEFORE they made all these moves, is much better than their 73 win record showed.

Majority of their team was injured for at least half the 2012 season(Bautista didn't play in 70 games,Lawrie and JP both missed around 35 games, 3 of their top 5 SP missed over 40 combined starts cause of injuries)

It was one most injured teams in franchise history(and one of the most in MLB history, almost tieing MLB record for most players used in a season). Had it not been for that, they'd easily have been a low-mid 80s win team in 2012. So once you factor in all the moves they made, assuming they are healthy(which as of day 1 of MLB The Show rosters, they are) they'd be around a team thats projected to finish around low-mid 90s wins.

The Braves were in the Top 5 in team defense last year....

Me too. I'm a Red Sox fan, but haven't used them in a few years because I prefer to use middle of the road teams. I was actually looking forward to finally using them this year, but I don't know now. As odd as it sounds I'm really disappointed.

agreed. I always used the redsox as my tester franchise before OSFM because they were really good and not fun to use all summer being highly ranked. So I was hoping a middle of the road sox team... but maybe the OSFM guys will get it right and I'll use them for my "dynasty" franchise that goes for years.

You get a fancy pre-release copy?

Nice.

How are the Redsox better than the Jays, Nationals, and Reds?

# 129 Bat @ 02/22/13 07:36 PM
Mariners are an awesome defense team.. Why are they ranked at 23? They are a top 3 defensive team. Well when Morse isn't in the field...

I'm surprised not a lot of people complaining about Detroit.

In the AL, they finished with 7th best record, 7h best run differential, losing road record, losing record outside the Central, all this despite playing in the weakest division and getting to beat up KC, Cle, Min, and an average Chi. They might have the worst defense in AL, and are slow everywhere. They get an easy playoff road and have Verlander and Miggy/Prince so people think they are some juggernaut.

As for the rankings, just a big FYI, those rankings are based on averages from the ENTIRE roster. I repeat, the ENTIRE roster. Did you get that? Rostiré enteró . Not just the important guys. Not just the 1-9 starters. Everyone. Yeah even that weird guy with the curly mustache that hasn't pitched since May. Yes, him.

Let's say, hypothetically, the Texas Rangers are the best team in real-life baseball. But in their bullpen, there's one particular guy, let's call him Oliver Perez. This guy is absolutely terrible. Can't pitch at all. Now in real life that is pretty much meaningless. Managers will just avoid using him in any and all important situations. Maybe he's out of minor league 'options' and they are just biding their time waiting to release him.

In The Show however, that guy's terrible overall rating of, say, 30, is going to bring the ENTIRE pitching overall from a 98 to maybe an 83 (A pitching staff is only like 12 people).

Then that in turn is going to bring the team's overall ranking from like a 97 to perhaps a 90.
Bobhead...

Question for you...regarding fielder reactions...does it pertain to only infielders or does it affect outfielders as well...

For example....someone like Brett Gardner (if you go by Range on Fangraphs)...he should be a 99 on the "reaction attribute"

My question (outfielders only)...is there any difference on the jump a 99 reaction Brett Gardner gets to go chase down than the baseball in mlb the show than someone who is a 40-50 reaction attribute (like Jonny Gomes)...???

Does anyone else know this answer?

Victor Martinez? Alex Avila? Torii Hunter? Scherzer?

Do you even watch the Tigers? Apparently not.

Wow...so I must of been dreaming when I saw the Giants win the World Series last year. I guess it just didn't happen. That's a bummer because I was hoping they would go for the Dynasty label this year. It's ok though, the Dodgers pretty much won this division last year. And the Reds beat the Giants in 2 games. And the Cards knocked them out after 4. And the number one rated team, well they had a lead there for a moment.

I mean, this is a joke right? Arizona, LAD, and Colorado...Colorado!! Are all ranked ahead of the World Champs. They better go look at their rating system quickly and figure out what went wrong!!

Are you kidding me?!?! Toronto is ranked 5th based on what??? They won 73 games last year and picked up a bunch of overpaid players from a sorry Miami team that won 69 games. There is absolutely no reason why totonto should be that high...I know there is a lot of blue jay fans out there but you guys need to be a bit more realistic. If I can admit that boston doesn't belong you guys should at least try to be a bit more reasonable.

You're obviously kidding if you're defending them being 1 overall.

Oh man I love this!!! Appreciate the developers of MLB The Show even more because they ranked the Giants at #17. This just made my day!!!

I guess there is no reason they are favored to win the World Series according to Vegas either, right?

I mean I''m not saying that that is what i believe, but there is more than enough reason to believe they should be that high.

Didn't read the thread so if this has been mentioned, I apologize, but if the defensive rankings are any indication, UZR has NOT been incorporated into ratings this year. A little assumption on my part however.

Boston 3rd?

Madness.
