Available exclusively for the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) systems, The Show continues to deliver the most realistic baseball experience with its enhanced, true-to-life gameplay, authentic franchise and season modes and incredible detail not found in any other sports game.

MLB 13 The Show improves upon what has been delivered in previous franchise releases, and also adds many new features that continue to push the envelope in the sports video game genre including an All-New Playoff Mode, a new beginner mode for an accessible pick-up-and-play baseball experience, and an improved Play Now mode for faster and simpler games. With cross platform play in Home Run Derby mode and save functionality between the PS3 and PS Vita versions, The Show allows players to continue their season anywhere.

Due to hit stores on March 5, 2013, just in time for Spring Training™, MLB 13 The Show is prepared to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for all fans, no matter the age or skill level, and prove once again to be the industry’s premier licensed MLB game.

NEW FEATURES IN MLB 13 THE SHOW:
  • The “Post Season” Mode (PS3 & PS Vita) – MLB 13 The Show will introduce users to Post Season Mode this year as it offers quick entrance directly into the Post Season, fast-tracking your run to the World Series. The mode offers you the choice of selecting to play with one team, or all 10. All of the game control options you've come to know are available in this mode, including: single player, head-to-head play, co-op play, and PlayStation®Move support.

  • Cross Platform Online Home Run Derby (PS3 & PS Vita) – MLB 12 The Show introduced Online Home Run Derby™ to PS3. MLB 13 The Show brings this experience to PS Vita with the inclusion of cross platform play. Regardless of whether users are logged into a PS3 or PS Vita, selecting an Online Home Run Derby match will gather users into one game experience.

  • Beginner Mode (PS3 & PS Vita) – In an effort to make The Show more accessible and to help users learn the fundamentals of the game, Beginner Mode has been added. Beginner mode uses an advanced, adaptive AI system that dynamically updates your skill level on the fly

  • New Push/Pull Hitting Trajectories Engine (PS3 & Vita) – New to MLB 13 The Show is our Push/Pull hitting trajectory tendencies engine. When you hit select during the pitcher-batter matchup, the in-game screen will show you if the current hitter is Extreme Pull, Pull Hitter, Balanced, Opposite field Hitter, or an Extreme Opposite field hitter.

  • Franchise and Season Mode Evolution (PS3 & PS Vita) – MLB 13 The Show is set on improving the user's experience in Franchise mode by focusing on player development, while creating a more realistic and dynamic league as time progresses. Additions include a newly implemented team budget that focuses on a reward-penalty system which is solely based on a team's performance on the field. This new budget system results in a more dynamic league, in which a low-budget team can become a big spender after a period of sustained excellence, mirroring real teams in the big leagues.

  • Road to The Show Evolution (PS3 & PS Vita) – One of the most popular aspects of MLB 13 The Show, Road To The Show, has been reworked this year in an effort to provide players with the most immersive and realistic on-field experience ever in a sports video game. More focus has been made to bring simpler control over a users’ player on the field in order to bring an unparalleled experience to the game.

  • The Show Live (PS3 & PS Vita) - The Show Live provides an exhibition-based mode using data from MLB.com to populate daily match-ups, line-ups and starting pitchers, giving users the opportunity to play in an environment that matches the “real-world.” The Show Live presents games in the same way as season-based modes, with up-to-date player and team statistics. Hear commentators reference the previous or next day’s events, based on real-world situations and information. Users have the choice to play a game from today, or turn the calendar back and play any game from earlier in the season.

  • Diamond Dynasty 2.0 (PS3) – Diamond Dynasty juggles aspects of team management, player progression, and online competition, with more creative freedom than any sports game to date. In order to improve Diamond Dynasty, feedback from The Show Nation was used to expand and fine tune the systems that make up the mode. DD will now be simpler to understand for new users, while also being easier to navigate and manage for previous users. In addition to being more intuitive, visual tutorials walk users through the more complex screens or systems within DD.

    • Diamond Dynasty introduces the Designated Hitter in MLB ’13. Users can choose whether they want to play by American or National League rules at their home park.
    • The Marketplace gets a haul over as well as users can post and cancel orders with ease. The Marketplace has gotten smarter, minimizing the amount of potential exploits.
    • The Dynasty card type has also evolved. Dynasty Cards now display more information about the player's abilities. Each Dynasty Player has maximum thresholds he can reach in each attribute, so picking which cards to activate to a team has become much more important.

  • TruBroadcast Presentations 2.0 (PS3) – Adding new scenes, new cameras, new OSDs, new music and new audio, True Broadcast Presentations 2.0 continues to blur the line between reality and The Show. This year focuses on further refinement of game continuity through the restructuring of thousands of presentations but also a heavy emphasis on taking stadium ambiance and big game atmosphere to a new level.

  • New Scouting and Training System in Franchise Mode (PS3 & PS Vita) – A "human element" was incorporated into MLB The Show’s Scouting system, which affects the user's decision making process when dealing with scouting directives, position changes and, ultimately, drafting a player. .

  • Road To The Show Commentary and Presentation Evolution (PS3) – The Road To The Show mode received a major commentary and presentation overhaul in an effort to bring the focus back to the player in the mode. Hundreds of new presentation scenes have been created and thousands of new commentary lines have been recorded to give the RTTS player the attention he deserves and to highlight notable single-game, single-season, and career achievements like milestones and records.

  • Online Road To The Show Leaderboard (PS3 & PS Vita) - Users can track their Offline Road to the Show careers and compare their player against all players from the community using RttS Leaderboards. Users can compare stats to see who is considered the best at their position, at similar levels. Users and their stats will be grouped by organization level: Double-A, Triple-A, MLB, as well as by position. All this will be tracked, displayed and sortable as long as you are connected online and PlayStation®Network signed in.

  • Universal Profile (PS3 & PS Vita) - Universal Profile provides a central hub for any statistics a user records while playing The Show, Regardless of the modes or platform played, stats will be tracked and viewable in a user’s profile. In addition, profiles will have levels associated with them. As a user plays, they accumulate experience (xp) towards their profile’s level.

  • Button Accuracy Meter (PS3 & PS Vita) – Users will now have more control over the fielding aspects of the game than ever before. For users who choose the new button accuracy meter they will now have complete control over the fielders arm accuracy and arm strength. No longer will an errant throw be the result of a random dice roll.

  • Steve Lyons Joins The Booth (PS3 & PS Vita) - Joining the The Show’s Broadcast team for MLB 13 is MLB veteran Steve Lyons. Steve started his Broadcasting Career with Fox in 1996, and has called several Division & League Championship series with the network. Steve currently does Color Commentary for the LA Dodgers.

Steve brings new energy and insight into the game, refreshing the commentary for MLB 13 The Show.

  • MLB 13 Online Leagues Overhaul (PS3) - This year with MLB 13 The Show Online Leagues has been given a complete and total overhaul. New features include being able to play the real MLB schedule with all 30 teams, coupled with upgrades and refinements – like being able to manually control the pace of the league. Second, chances are that even though you're talking all the smack, you'll end up buying the game anyways just because its a million times better then the other baseball choice on the market. Lastly, $60 for a game was a lot 7 years ago when most of us were in high school and worked part time. If you think about it, $60 for a game is not that much, if you consider how much we spend on phones, movie tickets, and beer. What I'm trying to say is this....Stop acting like you're breaking anyone's heart by not dishing out lousy 60 bucks for a video game that you'll probably get a good 4-6 months out of and you'll resell on ebay and get half your money back. This is one of, if not the best game on the market so please spare my eyes the reading of your nonsense comments. thanks.
Seriously... I'm still in school and only have a measly part time job, but $60 is 6 hours of work for me (most, if not all of which is spent surfing the internet lol). Its almost like $60 is the difference between life and death for some people... (Is it? Don't want to make any jokes in bad taste...)

If anybody wants to complain about TheShow, there is a place you can go where the people there will care about what you have to say and will give you all the respect you deserve.

So all those people that were complaining about the first video claiming that it didn't show them enough can stuff that humble pie right? Seriously, I was expecting a few things we already knew and a couple that were surprises, but damn that's an impressive list. Diamond Dynasty looks like it's going to be up to par (hopefully with duplicate nicknames and perhaps leagues). I've also wanted push/pull tendencies for a while and the Show delivers.

However, franchise excites me the most. It looks like they are aiming to shut us all up over this:
  • Top 50 Prospects Icon - Finally a place to showcase the Profar's of the world.
  • Organizational Depth Charts - Makes it a lot easier to manage the minor leagues.
  • New CBA "Qualifying Offer" - Unreal
Plus Customized motions for CAPs, revamped RttS... it makes me sad for these guy's wives and children. Get some help

I get and understand all of that but, I am disappointed they didn't make it in this year. As someone who manages every game, I just don't have to time to get through an entire season let alone multiple.

That being said, I still think the improvements for this year are impressive. But I would be lying if I said that lack of generated pitch counts(one pitch mode) didn't takes the wind out of my sails a bit.

MLB 13 The Show is the most realistic baseball game ever as multiple years’ worth of real-life data was used to determine the team-specific correlation between win-loss record and budget size, while also looking at postseason performance. This new budget system results in a more dynamic league, in which a low-budget team can become a big spender after a period of sustained excellence, mirroring real teams in the big leagues.

Tampa, Baltimore and Oakland , win games but their budget remains the same. The Small market teams in small populated areas with small tv ratings and attendance will never spend with the Titans no matter how many games they win.

Overal looks like the Show 13 will be amazing. Hopefully down the road Realistic player contracts and team budgets will improve and be well more realistic. You know Mirror real life.

I don't care that being a catcher is cooler now. I don't care that there is less commentary to give RTTS a different feel.

"One of the most popular aspects of MLB 13 The Show, Road To The Show, has been reworked this year in an effort to provide players with the most immersive and realistic on-field experience ever in a sports video game. More focus has been made to bring simpler control over a users’ player on the field in order to bring an unparalleled experience to the game. Environmental improvements, such as a revamped on-field sound system, enhances hundreds of new sound FX, player yells, and crowd sounds so they are heard prominently and realistically from the player's perspective on the field. Other notable improvements include a new user-controlled catch system, a revamped catcher mode, an improved Performance Evaluator to include baserunning and fielding, new custom batting animation sets, pitch type tip-offs when on defense, position-specific tasks such as calling for a pick-off as a middle infielder, and much more."

You have this entire paragraph of fluff.

Everything that's bolded says this:
- "On field acoustics have been revamped so directional sound is more realistic"

The rest appears to be a few tweaks to catching, baserunning, and fielding.

What about RTTS at it's core, a more realistic process of being promoted and demoted and team rosters being handled more accurately to portray what would happen in real life under similar circumstances? More realistic use as a utility player, less unrealistic flip flopping between being a RP to SP to RP to SP as a progressing between each level, and more.

That's what I want. Not to be able to hear the dude in front of me whistle because the big screen behind me is playing music to a cute girl in the stands....

For me to be a fan, SCEA needs to cut the BS, give the devs more money to spend on R&D, and cut some funds to their silly marketing. Will this happen? Probably not. It's a business. The money goes where it's projected to create the greatest ROI.

Sad, but true.
I care a great deal about the revamped catcher mode. In the past few editions of MLB The Show since catcher mode was implemented into the game, it was the same. No matter what options you selected, you had to call every single pitch of every single game of your career. Including the dog days of August in the minor leagues. I for one, couldn't get past the first week of the first season in Double-A as a catcher. I could not sit there and call every pitch for these scrubs in the minor leagues.

Imagine this. Let's say, you aren't a catcher, but you are an outfielder. And let's say that you had to stand in the outfield for every single pitch. You couldn't select the option that allows you to play the pitch where a ball is hit towards you and you must make a play on. This isn't just for the outfield, it could be for infielders as well. Imagine having to watch every pitch of every game. It is the main reason why people wouldn't play as catchers in RTTS because they could not stand having to call every pitch/location of every game. Then think about doing your time in the minor leagues, and then playing a full MLB career of 15-20 years. Having to sit through every game of your 20-25 year RTTS. I know I wouldn't be able to do that.

Thankfully, the dev team over at SCEA realized that this is an issue for people who play RTTS. I don't know all of the details of this revamped catcher mode, but I am assuming that it is similar to playing as a shortstop in RTTS. I'm hoping that when you are a catcher in RTTS, you only have to play the pitches that involve the catcher. Plays including, potential steals, foul pop-ups around home plate, and bunt plays. This would be the basic plays. I understand that a catcher is involved in every play during a baseball game, whether it's backing up first base on a ground ball or telling the outfielders where to throw the ball in to get the runners advancing.

The reason I am so excited about this revamped catcher mode over all other improvements to this great game is because I am the varsity catcher for my high school team. I have been catching since I was playing baseball. Growing up in New York watching Mike Piazza go out there everyday made me want to suit up and get behind the plate every time I'm at the baseball field. But as I mentioned before, in previous editions of MLB The Show, it was nearly impossible to have a solid career in RTTS as a catcher. this forced me to play as a third baseman or even a corner outfield position. It just wasn't as enjoyable (even though I do spend most of my time with this game in my RTTS) as it could have been if I was behind the plate.

The revamped catcher mode may not be as flashy as some other improvements to this game, but it definitely means the world to me. Thank You SCEA and all involved.

As a franchise offline only player, there are some very nice additions on the list. My major concerns the past 3 years is lack of immersion in my franchise and I'm not sure how much this will change. I do like the sounds of new player progression.

I was really hoping for all-new dynamic commentary. If I'm in 2015, I want the commentators to mention my previous history (award winners, top prospects, records).

I was also hoping for some kind of weekly tv wrap up show or something that lets me know whats going on in my franchise.

Well I rescind my broad comment saying nobody cares that being a catcher is cooler now. Obviously one person cares....

Haha, joking aside, you're right. My statement was very broad. I did not realize there was much interest in something like this so apparently my comment directly related to that was off base (no pun intended). My apologies. Maybe I will give catcher mode a try this year as I've only tried pitcher and infield.

As to seanjeezy, who has the balls of SCEA living in the back of his throat, I will overlook your ignorance since you've already mentioned that you're still in school trying to learn, but probably cheating there too while you steal from whatever company it is that you work for since you spend all your time there being unproductive.

Did you actually read what Russell's response was in reference too, or are you taking things out of context? He was saying that the cover athlete campaign had nothing to do with what R&D did with the money they were allocated. With the resources they were allocated, franchise and RTTS were a focal point. There were comments (myself included) about money being spent on the cover athlete, and Russell made it clear that the money spent on that had nothing to do with what R&D did with their resources. He was clarifying what he perceived to be accusations that R&D was mismanaging time and money.

Now, for the big picture. SCEA has $x (a finite number) to spend on MLB 13'. In budgeting they decide $y will go to R&D, $z will go to marketing, $m will go to finance, $t to customer service, etc. That's how it works. The higher ups then decide how the allocation of $x will generate the most sales. In many businesses these days, even outside the sports gaming industry, the focus has shifted to allocating a large portion of $x to advertising, which will directly impact the amount allocated to other departments. I can tell you not only from my education but experience in the real world as an employee and business owner that this is how things work. Pay attention in school and actually work at work and maybe you'll learn something.

We've clearly gone off on a tangent and detracted from the focal point of the thread, so I'll end rant here and not respond to this topic again.

I'm a fan of all 4. What would you like? Honest question. Just curious, maybe throw out an idea and it makes it way into 14. Just my 2 cents.

hey are the sounds of the show bugs fixed where some default sounds play over imported sounds? Also does the reliever warm up pitch sequence feature a longer imported music? (example enter sandman for Mo will play will I'm done the warm up pitches)

thanks!

Which part of this post is the fluff, and which part is the 30% of real stuff?

I was also hoping for some kind of weekly tv wrap up show or something that lets me know whats going on in my franchise.

a ticker and twitter were added, so that shoud help with the immersion.

I can tell you not only from my education but experience in the real world as an employee and business owner that this is how things work. Pay attention in school and actually work at work and maybe you'll learn something...
