A few observations from the games I've played:

- The game is smooth once you get the hang of the control stick.

- Defense is actually called for loose ball fouls this year!

- The game reminds me of a mix between Live 10 and Pro Evolution Soccer. Live for the fluidity of the control stick and PES for the signature skills/Player I.D. and controls. I made a couple of posts last year saying that it seemed 2K was making the game like soccer with the passing. Well, it's the same this year. With PNR, you have to hold the button and lead the cutter, which is a nice addition.

- I can't wait to play with post up players this year if they fixed zone. Once again, I was reminded of Live 10's post game with 2K13's fluidity.

- Did 2K get rid of escape dribbles? I really hoped they would've brought it back a little less cheesy than last year.

- Self alley oop: tone that ish down! I can already imagine the pause and replay abusers replaying this every time.

What exactly is a "self alley oop?"

I know this is off topic but I would like to see someone try and make a "Rock & Jock" style mode like the old MTV specials from the 90's

lol I wasn't even aware this could be done in any NBA 2k' game. That is something that should be reserved for the Harlem Globetrotters or maybe NBA Street

I absolutely love the control stick. Completely puts this game over the top. Such an improvement.

That H.A.M instrumental at the menu is better than hearing "we playing basketbaaaallll!'' Imma be freestylin' every time I load this game up!

anyone else having a hard time grabbing rebounds? I've had occasions where the in-air collision between Perkins & Bosh pushes Bosh away from the rebound. I've also had instances where Bosh jumps for the rebound but doesn't grab anything, instead the ball lands right into Westbrook's hands ..

By the way, how do you do an alley oop on the PS3? I've tried Square + X but it just attempts to shoot the ball instead

One gripe I have already is the heavily edited soundtrack. I know 2k did what they have to do to with an E rating ,but lord as big of a Hip Hop fan I am the butchered version of Mercy nearly made my ears bleed. Gonna have to rip a CD with the unedited soundtrack to my xbox and play it when I play 2k13.

I looked at it as Miami doesn't have the size as OKC so they should be getting dominated on the boards.

Yeah I took that into account as well but there were several occasions where Perkins would literally snatch the rebound off Bosh from behind despite being boxed out

Is the online match not working for anyone else with a PS3? I keep pressing X and nothing happens other than a little laser sound effect.

Alley-oop on the Ps3 is Square + X.

On a side note, does anyone else think the new scoreboard/menu layout is horrible? Seems like a Mardi-gras/New Orleans/Harley Davidson theme. It also seems like Jay-Z cut off a chunk of his album cover "Watch the Throne" and slapped it on the layout on 2k13. Too much gold, looks too "theme-ish". It also makes the game look more arcade-like, when it should be realistic.

Although EA Basketball games suck these days, I wouldn't mind trading scoreboards with them...

What is up with Wade and Lebron's faces? Last year they got them down pretty good. Lebron looks like he has swollen lips lol Wish I have the PC version so they can be changed.

The animations are pretty fast and smooth this year. I did not feel any lag.

I tried that but it just passes the ball. Am I suppose to hold both buttons together or hold onto L2 while performing this? All I did was simply tap square then X.

Sigh, this is the one thing that annoys me every year; the controls. There is no consistency throughout the years. I remember when alley-oop was L2+O, then L2+X, now its supposedly square + x. And every year they say the controls were re-designed for the better of it .. they said the same thing about 2k12 and look how that turned out ...

I notice this.

When I box out I rarely get the board. I don't know if I'm missing timing my jump or what.

Agreed.

Me being a hip hop head and knowing majority of the songs the heavy censors does kill me.

Rebounding being a jump off is due to the settings according to Mike earlier in this thread....

X + A for alley oops....haven't had issues with this whatsoever....have to make sure players are in the position to do one though...

And yeah the soundtrack is absolutely gutted...Listening to 'Mercy' is painful lol

Loving the demo so far. Even though I don't like the jay-z ex producer thing but oh we'll, I actually kinda like a few aspects of it though.

Gameplay seems fluid and good but as I have learned with games is that the initial judgement of the game shouldn't be taken seriously.

First thing I noticed was the crowd. It's a lot of replicas, even behind the broadcast desk, (check the dude with the comb over.)

I like the controls in games in every once and a while I forget to pull the trigger.*

Sig skills seem to work, *had a chase down with lebron and westbrook and west brook bricked but got a foul. Seemed accurate to me.

Also rebounds are kinda weird. I think you gotta get in position then box out. The thunder just had a position were the got like 5 or 6 boards couple were legit other were idk. It's lag in a lot of these animations also ( blocking, shooting, dribbling)

It's still a lot of players running from assignments not much but enuff.

They all seem to act like the real life replicas. The teams play like themselves. Running plays, stuff looked great. Just a few tweeks and this will be great.

Wish they kept all the sig stuff. That would set this game on a highier level for me. Can't wait for Tuesday.

I feel like I heard somebody say "shotclock cheese" somewhere in the crowd.

The rebounding is a little janky for my liking.

I like the animations, but some of them are debilitating like last year (specifically the 'oh man I was hip-checked so hard I must now double over in disbelief' and the 'as I do all of this dipsey-do crossovering, I'm just going to go ahead and profile out of bounds because I gotta get my steps in rhythm'). I am glad, however, that the paint seems to be fair game--at least from what I could tell without having player lock on.
