Has there been specific discussion of being able to revert back to 2k12 controls? I see references in these posts but nothing concrete. I do like simplicity in my games and the biggest selling points for me with 2k13 are the dream team, Iverson and Barkley along with the All-Star content. I love the legends and classic teams in 2k12 so any reduction in these teams and players in 2k13 will be a big disappointment for me.

I was never a fan of isomotion so I am open to trying the new system but I agree with daveberg, something feels wrong about having to press 2 buttons and a stick for a dunk on a fast break. Hoping the practice court and some time with the new system changes my feeling about it. Its very tough to get any real feeling through a quick demo. I almost wish they only gave us a practice gym as the demo or even offered a practice gym with say MJ only as a $5 DLC pre release to get the hang of the controls. I would have bough that for sure.

If I can play a game as the Heat, you know it's good. Great job this year 2k.

I don't think having to press down L + R + X (or shot stick) to dunk is too difficult. I'm slowly getting used to the controls, but so far I can say I liking them a lot. More control behind the sticks is an advantage for me, maybe not others (And that's not a bad thing, some people might prefer 2k12 controls and still be sick at 2k)

So I was just reminded why I don't play online. I'm laughing so hard right now at how some of these dudes play the game.

I was the Heat and I just beat a guy 15-6 without scoring a basket with LeBron James.

Mind you, he picked up 4 fouls with russel Westbrook trying that stupid take charge full court nonsense. I'm laughing so hard right now..

The best part was his two offensive 3 in the key violations with Durant, trying to do nothing but spin through my D to the hoop.

What a scrub, playing online is a riot

Demo is enjoyable so far. Digging the right stick dribbling, feels a lot less restricting. Rebounding feels pretty sloppy to me hope it's better in the full build. Also, what's wrong with LeBron's face in this game? lol. His headband placement is also wrong. They've always had it right so not sure why they have it wrong in 2k13.

You guys are ridiculous!

Complaining about pressing LT to dunk? Last year you dunked with 2 buttons. Your hand is already under LT anyway is it really that hard just to press it? sheesh

But I'm picking up the dribble controls beautifully. It's starting to become second nature, Ive stringed together some pretty nice combinations. Just read the defender and look where the ball handler momentum is taking you.

Ive memorized the shot stick already also. It's just that the camera relative is killing me, but once I get my absolute control my stick game is going to be the same as last year.

It's a nonissue. You can just default the right stick to shot stick anyway.

And there's always button shooting, which I do anyway when I'm taking a jump shot or an open dunk.

Does anyone know if you can turn off the signature skills/points that appear in the top left corner every time you score? Annoying as hell.

I also don't like the controls, gonna switch back. I don't need to do 100 iso moves, what's the point... rofl

Because it's creative.

Wouldn't you get tired of basketball if every time LeBron dunks he did the same dunk? Or Wade does the same move every single game, till he retired? Iverson never amazed us with his handle and just did basic crossovers all the time? If MJ did the same move over and over. It's variety and is needed.

I honestly feel like people don't like the dribble stick because to actually use it to it's full potential you have to actually know basketball. When to do moves, how you bait your defender, read then react, what type of shot to pull after the defender takes the bait. It's maddd creative.

You guys are going to be missing out.

There are some guys that just want simple, the guys that want to be able to just drive to the hoop and dunk at will without having to put any creative effort into it.

I see it all the time when I attempt to get a good game online. Hesistation, step backs, cross overs and such don't apply to these guys. They're turbo turbo turbo, dunk dunk dunk all day.

They're not happy that they actually have to work and learn something new, that would in the end benefit them. I don't understand how one can be upset that they have FULL control of the moves their player does on the court.

Well, we can't all agree or it'd be one hell of a boring discussion forum dude!

I just can't stand the new controls. And I so wanted to like them, but I shouldn't have to have two sticks mapped out for movement and dribbling, I see no sense in that whatsoever. After a couple of crossovers/spins/hez on the demo I was just left feeling empty. No excitement at all, just a cumbersome, awkward experience. No-one should have to double tap a shot stick to pull off a stepback jumper, there's nothing smooth about that, I was expecting my player to pull off a hadouken fireball with some of the control actions.....

I'm glad you guys are digging the new stick, wish I was there with you.

Why couldn't they do it like this?

Default:
1. Shooting stick stayed the same like 2K12
2. Press LT and you can use the iso-motion stick

So you just switch it around.

I wish I could change the cam to 2K-cam but I can't so I'll have to wait until the full game is out and I'll practice with the stick. The demo also feels slow, when passing to a player with the stick and when you want a defender to shove in.

But besides that: I DON'T NEED TO DO 100 ISO MOTIONS IN 1 MINUTE RIGHT? I'm feeling the focus is too hard on these moves. I'm not someone that just presses turbo constantly and goes for lame dunks with Lebron over and over again.

I do play the game the right way, as sim as possible, I do use plays, I do try to play as realistic as possible.

Rofl just want simple? Get real.

Like I said: I'm no cheeser, I try to play as realistic as possible, I'm not someone who guns and runs and tries to dunk over 5 people with Lebron and cheese my way in. I just want that the controls allow me to shoot first and press LT to let me use the Iso motions. It feels better.

I don't see CP3 doing 10 of these moves during 1 possession. I see people doing tons of spin moves in one play, that's not the purpose right? That's ridiculous.

I'm definitely going to try and learn to play with the right stick, but if I don't like it that automatically makes me someone who likes it the easy way and don't want to learn.

Talk about being obnoxious.

I wasn't directly addressing you, if I was, I would have quoted you instead of Don.

I'm glad you play sim and don't cheese, I respect that fact. I was just replying to what Don said, not what you said.

The point I was trying to get across is that SOME guys want simple, I even said SOME in my post.

After a few more games I'm starting to get the hang of this dribbling thing. It's amazing how the more you know about the controls the better the experience with this game. I haven't had that feeling since 2K11. The possibilties are endless! I did notice however that rebounding needs some work and some instances where contact SHOULD play out but I'm chockin' that up to the level we're playing on. All Star and Hall of Fame should play differently. Anyway, it's gonna be a GREAT season OSers! Yeah buddy!

# 1118 magicman32 @ 09/27/12 02:38 PM
After the 2nd night of playing, I'm getting more used to the controls. I can't say I love them though. I guess I need more time. Also I hope offensive rebounds are tuned on the retail version. I wish I could change the camera angle to 2k.

Playing on the side view is always a pain in the...

I am curious why the put the demo out in the broadcast view? Absolutely the worst view.

Ahhh, the never-ending 2k version of the chicken or egg argument. It's really just preference. I feel more simheads like the broadcast cam because it looks like what you see on TV. Whereas others like 2k cam because you see the whole floor, you can see lanes better, and it's like you're actually playing. I like broadcast personally, but 2k isn't terrible.
