Also want to say I'm really loving the interaction between driver and defender. Defenders no longer bump you into submission like in 2K11, nor do they warp in front of you to stop you like in 2K12. There seem to be degrees of "beating your man", and if you get a step on him, you can penetrate with the defender still riding you to the bucket and trying to affect your path and shot rather than either hitting a brick wall or blowing by him completely.

It's the way it should be.

I was quite suprised they got this right as it's always been an issue in past games, and promo videos showed the bumping but not a lot of the hip riding.

lol

so anyways...I've done 3 ankle breaking crossovers in this demo, which is 2 more than the entirety of my time with 2k12. One of them felt 'not so earned' compared to the other two.

Also seen a few windmills with players nearby. It has made me wonder if players with Highlight Reel will perform uncommon dunks in traffic too often for my tastes. Although it does need 80 STM to pull off...forgot about that.

yeah yeah demo, pro, default n all that. Im just saying i think some will be addressing it with sliders.

LOVE play continuing after a whistle! can't state enough how awesome this is!

so i don't know if this is a demo glitch or the game glitch

but i just got called for a shooting foul and then perkins blocked the ball after the foul is called and he got a goltending call so norris cole got a three point play

hope it's only a demo glitch

Unless I'm not understanding what your saying, That's not a glitch....even after the whistle you can't goaltend if the player got the shot up in time...

That wouldn't be a glitch of any kind

It's the same as the "and 1"...if the player is in the act of shooting and you foul them that doesn't mean you can then goaltend with no penalty

Everything else feels GREAT, having a lot of fun with the demo
I am really liking the demo so far, but I totally agree with the bolded. I am not sure why 2K refuses to remove these legacy "uninterruptible" animations. It is extremely frustrating to see an Offensive player go through these long-winded animations and know that no matter what you do (run into the player, try to block the shot, put your hand up, etc...) the player is going to get the shot off perfectly clean every time. There are just entirely too many animations that play out in the paint where an Offensive player can just float/glide through people unhindered. Last year I had people abuse the heak out of that kind of crap online, and it looks like it may be more of the same this year as well

no what i mean is perk fouled cole on a layup and and then quickly got called for a goltend when it's clearly not a goltend because the ball is just an inch off cole's fingertip

Simply the best CPU i have seen in b-ball game. Very "human", playing basketball, i love it.

The demo is on Pro level right ?

Contact DIRECTLY under the rim is def still an issue....this makes players with that put back sig skill a little overpowered.....

After my second night with the demo. I'm slowly getting the hang of the new control scheme. I'm even getting use to holding down LT to activate the shot stick (this is my biggest problem in trying to "un-learn" this).

Hopefully as the days go by the new controls become second nature.

One thing is that I was never really an "isolation guy" and I could never really pull off a lot of the moves. But now with the dribble stick I can.

I don't know if thats a good or bad thing ?

The game itself looks great, slight graphical updates and player movement is all above board. Some of the new animations are fantastic.

Then we get to the control mechanics. The dribble stick. I'm sorry, but after my first 4 games I had managed to get the hang of it, and also developed a huge dislike for it. It's awful. After using the right stick for the last couple of years as primarily a shooting stick, the change to a dribble action is baffling. It's cumbersome and akward. Completely ruined the experience for me. That coupled with enough gold in the game to even make Mr T. jealous, things are not looking good right now, purchase wise. The news that there are significant star players missing from legends was bad enough, now after actually playing the demo, i'm kind of leaning towards staying with 2k12 - unless it's a definite that we can change the control scheme back to 2k12?

Thats said, even being able to revert to the 2k12 controls might not be enough, I haven't actually felt this dissapointed with 2k in years.

I think my problem is they spoiled us with the Jordan challange and the legends, now they've nohting similar this year I just don't see the point in getting the game really.

Here's hoping another play through the demo tomorrow will change my mind. I really do want to like this.

Agreed %1000

I've notice goal tending over the years being limited to players hand passing through the rim or backboard.

This.

Serge Ibaka had like 4 put back dunks in a row on me -_-

Still not totally comfortable with the control setup. It doesn't feel as fluid and responsive as I thought it would be.

Had a few WOW moments and quite a few WTF moments so for. Could be the build.

I can definitely see the potential but it's not there yet to me, at least not in the demo.

2 highlights I had that really impressed me though:

Had this NASTY cross on Chalmers with Westbrook, then Eurostepped past Bosh for a reverse layup. Was so sick. Just the whole sequence looked so fluid and organic and the way the defenders reacted look so natural.

Second, did this sick half spin on Durant with LeBron and powered through the lane for a nasty dunk. Bosh came up to set a pick, I took one step left and Durant tried to fight through, then I spun back to the right and blew past him for a disgusting windmill dunk, knocking Perkins out of the way.

Can definitely see the potential for this being the defining control scheme that's going to help catapult gameplay to the next level for 2k. Just needs refining.

Also, I really hope some of these faces are fixed. Durant and LeBron look horrible and the headband placement is ALL types of wrong lol

Kind of unrelated

Suns new court (It reads "SUNS" on both sides of the court)

# 1095 JODYE @ 09/27/12 09:41 AM
Really like the text they used for Suns. If they could incorporate that back into their logo somehow that would be great.

And go back to these:

Back on topic though.

I can not stress enough how HORRIBLE the overlays are. Wow. Just really cheesy and bad. Definitely a step back in that regard.

Controls seem overcomplicated to me. I don't see what the need was for a complete overhaul of the control scheme. 2k11-12 were both great and with some fine tuning of that foundation 13 would have been A+

I will reserve judgment until i can get the full retail version and play through a few hours or practice to get the hang of all the new controls. Something tells me with practice and time this could be great but I'm not 100 % sold.

And the lack of classics is a major disappointment. I was really hoping they would keep building on that portion of the game...

Hitting a dribble move with the right stick then having to smash down on L2 then double tap the stick for some variety of jumper was nothing but akward and annoying. Am completely shocked 2k have decided to go with this style. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the iso motion and shot stick being mapped to seperate sticks in previous games.

If anything, i'm feeling annoyed with myself because I want to be liking this game, but right now, it's offereing me very little to smile about. I wish I could be more enthusiastic. Perhaps the full game will grip me more knowing we can revert to 2K12 control style.

Indeed...I wanted to see options for quick games with old school rules and a filter option for black & white games....
