Just played the demo on the Xbox 360 using All pro.

Thoughts: All pro is way too easy. Gained yards running and throwing at will. I spent most of my time using a different play each time just to see how the game plays.

Serious concerns starting with the CPU play calling. 1:31 left in the 4th quarter and I am winning 10-7 using the 49ers.

1) The CPU kept trying to run the ball from their own 36 yard line with no timeouts??? So it then punts on 4th down with 3 yards to go while sitting at the 50 yard line???

2) So I decided to give the ball back by punting just to see if the CPU is really that dumb. Short version: THE CPU IS DUMB AS A BOX OF ROCKS! Once again being down by 3 points with 46 seconds left in the game, it continues to try and run the ball in the 4th even though it had ZERO success all game long. It then completes a monster pass and stepping out on the sideline stopping the clock with 4 seconds left in the game at my own 27 yard line. Figuring the CPU would kick the field goal to tie? NOPE I FIGURED WRONG. The CPU runs the ball and getting stopped at the line of scrimmage losing the game to me 10-7.

Yep, I am thoroughly convinced that we are not going to see a solid football game this generation from EA SPORTS.

I had a game where the CPU Redskins got the ball with no timeouts on their own 40-yard line down 4 points with 0:40 left.

The CPU then proceeded to call a draw play, a screen pass leading their WR into the middle of the field, and a HB swing pass as time expired.

It seems like I'm playing on a different Infinity Engine than everyone else. I've played the demo for 3 or 4 hours, and really haven't seen any crazy physics fails. Sometimes tackles look a little goofy, but I think the Engine overall makes the game look miles more realistic, and I'm glad to see the same generic tackle animations that happened over and over gone.

I can agree with everyone else that passes are dropped too easily. I'll hit my open tight end down the middle who will completely reel in the pass, but even a minor lick from the safety seems to squirt the ball out of his hands.

The new lighting scheme feels like a hindrance in the game. At least in the Seahawks - Redskins matchup, I can hardly tell the players apart. They all look like dark figures. This may be my TV, but does anyone else feel this way?

On a side note - Are the refs silent? Maybe this is a demo glitch, but it's quite frustrating not really knowing what the penalty is or who it's against until the accept/deny screen appears. And sometimes it shows them from behind, which is stupid.

Overall, I think this is a great demo. Maybe I just haven't played enough, but the 3 or 4 hours have been almost always enjoyable.

I was a benefactor of bizarre CPU playcalling myself...was playing as the Niners and was up on the Giants by 7 with under 30 seconds in the 4th...ball at midfield and they are content to call running plays up the middle and not use any of their 3 timeouts. Game over. I win? I guess...

Wow, unbelievable with how the series has gone over the years. The CPU used all three of its timeouts following punting to me at the end of the game. Didn't use any while on offense but instead ran a hurry up offense and would spike it on the first play.

I just realized that you can change the minimum play clock time from :10 to :25. Options wise this has to be one of the better demos that I've seen.

It's funny to me when people say that by playing the demo that's there's not enough there to warrant a purchase in this years madden. I hope that means that they haven't bought madden for about the last 5 years then cause they haven't added jack really in any of them. Ever year up into this one has been the same ,vanilla, boring madden with one new feature every year that didn't really do anything for the gameplay. I'm happy there trying to do things different I don't want the same game year in and year out example college football. I told myself to play the demo first before reading anything about it and that's what I did with all the little knit picking going on its a demo no one knows what the retail version of the game is gonna be like. Madden is finally getting into the game and if they would of just added the new passing game like its little brother did I would of been pissed.

Anyone else noticed Right Ends are still underpowered vs Left Tackles? It was a major complaint last year, and I don't really see any change. Using SF's Justin Smith I swear he is on the ground more than he is upright. Seriously, on over half his pass rushes he ends up on the ground, and most of the rest he is stonewalled.

Leave 2k out of this guys

The field and the grass looks awesome in the game, looks just like it should in real life. NCAA hardly ever gets that look right.

Name one thing that worked perfectly the first time around in ANY sports game? Even 2k had it's fair share of problems in the early stages of their work. Yes, Madden is a 24-year-old franchise, but you're acting as if they were working on the real time physics the entire time. They just now decided to put it into their game, and while it's long overdue, it wasn't going to be perfect the first time around. Nothing is.

Btw, you may think all of those things are gimmicks, but personally I believe they ARE a big priority to football games as it's something we see on TV when watching the games.

I'll keep it short as possible. First, there are no "all these overhauls". Its just an engine that forces players to react to contact of other objects. Second, Fifa had this engine before Madden, so lets not try and recycle this "allow EA to develop the supposedly new technology" excuse that has been given to EA by complacent fanboys. And on top of that, they managed to not address MANY other issues that contradict similation football. Third, presentation does not take precedence over the absence of physics which is what the game is about. Presentation should be fixed when FOOTBALL is excercised in a manner that "we are used to watching on TV".

One last thing. Why does the fact that people are not content with EA adding features that games as long as 8 or 9 years had, be perverted to "So you expected the infinity engine to be 100% perfect?" Who said this? Please educate me on the standard amount of years that EA has to "perfect" a "new" engine. Then teach us when this rule came about that suggest that we should give a 4 or 5 year grace period for every "new" engine or feature that EA proposes at least every 2 years? At that rate, THEY CAN NEVER BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS BECAUSE THE PROPOSAL OF SOMETHING "NEW" WILL PUT PEOPLE BACK INTO THE "did you REALLY think that it was going to be great the first time around?" PHASE.

Im not interested in any of the other fluff that comes in the final product...actually Im mistaken. I do care alot about franchise Mode, BUT being that they pretty much stripped out every customization feature that I enjoyed about THAT mode and told us way in advance about it.....I DO know what the retail version is going to be like and there is nothing else that the retail version could provide that would change my mind unless they completely tweaked the $hit out of it

...So thanks and there's nothing funny about this...or this year's game. Its actually pretty sad.
No if I was talking to you PERSONALLY I would of QUOTED it. I never heard what build and what version made it into the demo so how old is it i don't know they ever said. FIFA was not the same from there demo to the retail version. Engine does need some tweaking but what game EA has ever made not needed tweaking? And I got some news for you no game is ever perfect.I guess I really never thought the other maddens where that good aleast in the last 5 years or so but love football so I just dealt with it, but I enjoy this one the most.lol

I do not get why people were assuming the physics engine was going to be flawless..

It makes the game so much better, this and NCAA is night and day.

Yes there are some ugly hiccups but this also the first time EA has used physics for their football games.

They never said it was perfect, and while it is far from it, this is a step in the direction by a longshot.

For some reason encroachment on the center is one of the most surprising things of the demo for me. You can knock him over, IE kicks in because he has the ball. The rest of the players unfortunately just behave like they did previously and don't react to contact.

Just played a few more game. Still enjoying.

I just realized something was missing from pre game...did they take out the team entrances or did that just not make the demo?

Starting to enjoy the demo more, especially as controlling the Seahawks. But the AI's shoddy playcalling is rearing its head. Ugh...
