Patrick frickin Willis has caused me no small amount of rage. The man beat cruz and Nicks and picked them off on passes he shouldn't have even been able to touch. Man is causing me grief, besides most of the negatives that's already been said, demo is alright. Just hoping this is an earlier build so I can be more optimistic, but im probably buying this day 1 to 3

Dguinta was asked by a mod to condense his posts.

We never said he couldn't say what he wanted. He is free to give his opinion on the game as long as its within the sites TOS.

The situation has been dealt with and its over.

I've only played one game on PS3 so far, but here are my initial thoughts -

- While the commentary is vastly improved over last year, Jim Nance sounds too robotic/canned/whatever. Phil Simms' commentary is real good but they just need to tighten it up so he still isn't making a point about the last play halfway into the next play.

- The sound (crowd, on the field action) is great. Madden does what NCAA13 doesn't - it maintains a loudness of the crowd while the home team is on defense and still integrates the new swells. Well done.

- The new passing game is solid.

- And last but not least the new infinity engine is a very solid foundation for what can make for great gameplay. Sure there are some funky looking things going on here and there but for the first iteration of the new engine the crew at EA did a real great job. I love the fact that I can rush the QB with my LB and I blow past him I cannot stop on a dime and chase after him....my player has to take a few steps to stop momentum before heading in an opposite direction. That's just a small anecdote but the new engine gives the game a *much* needed change of feel.

Overall so far I'd day that EA has a winner on it's hands. I'll have to play it more to get more in-depth with impressions but the first test drive was a great one.

Just not feeling this one. If they tighten the rag doll physics up to stop all the bowling pin action, then it certainly has potential. You see one cool thing followed by several head scratchers. The plays where they brace for impact and it never happens or when a neck or arm goes twisting way before an actual hit occurs looks odd. It is fun though and I said the same after the NCAA demo and it has turned out to be a great game. I think the graphics up close are spot on amazing, but then when you are playing, look terrible. Camera angles just kill that. I will give it some more play and see how the release version impressions go, but I'm leaning towards NCAA as my game of choice as long as the patch does not ruin it.

I just saw a push block by a pulling guard. He was pulling to the right and pushed the linebacker 3 yds to the right then pushed him again 3 yds then again and again. By the time the play was over the linebacker was out of bounds. It looked so unique that it seemed like a glitch.

Just finished my first game as SF. NYG up 24-0 at one point, but I brought it back only to lose by a safety in OT. All in all a fun game, and my thoughts aren't anything that haven't already been mentioned here.

For once in a long while, I didn't feel the need to tell the commentary team to shut the crap up - it always seemed like Collinsworth was talking ****. The crowd swells were very good. The game looks very nice too.

A couple things that bother me. I strafe with the S a lot, and I hold the button down pre-play - so I hate that menu being the same as the strafe button. That being said, I LOVE the new menu. On one play I hit run left (I guessed wrong, but that's not the point) and I saw my defense sell out for a run to the left side.

Another thing that bothers me is how the playclock and time remaining disappears during play selection. When I was getting ready to tie the game up on a FG, I was trying to wait until :01 on the clock but the clock disappeared, so I ended up calling it a lot earlier than I wanted.

The physics engine makes the game feel little funny at times, but I can see some of the good things it brings as well.

I ran a play action pass and I'm not sure if it was just the coverage or if the CB bit on it, but when the QB finally set his feet Crabtree had completely blown by his man.

Screen play blocking seems to be much improved. I ran one RB screen and two WR screens, and was able to let the QB stand in the pocket while everything set up. The only problem I had with it was a timing issue, which is something I'll pick up with practice. Throw it too early and they catch it and run into their own blocker. Too late and it seems like they're covered. But I saw a window that would have allowed for a nice gain if I'd timed it.

The gameplay seems to be a lot faster than 12, which I don't necessarily like. Especially now that running into your own guys and tripping are possible, the slower speed seems a little more appropriate.

One audio gripe: When I won the OT coin toss as SF at home, the crowd was dead. That is a point when they should have roared. On the other hand, the crowd now sounds really good, and I'm pretty sure I noticed the camera shaking a little while they were cheering a TD, as if to imply a rumbling stadium.

I had a lot of fun with my first demo game though.

Downloading the demo and playing the first Madden I've played in over 5 years. Next gen has failed to impress me in many regards.

Going to give this a shot, seeing I'm basically fresh to the series again.

My second biggest issue is, defenders shred blocks way to fast, or at the same time your back receives the hand off. I can't say it's not realistic but it's way to consistent. While on the opposite end my cpu teammates can't shred one block. Yes sliders can fix some of this, but the blocking ai is still not up to par.

As far as 2k goes, I've learned to stop comparing 2k to madden. It is what it is, sadly. I learned to not play the game with a negative attitude, so I can enjoy the game, if I'm going to go in with my mind made up that "this is garbage and will never be better than 2k", then I'm only hurting myself, because there isn't going to be a 2k game anytime soon.

I just think we should stop asking 2k to make a football game, when they legally can't and try to give EA direct feedback on how to improve the game. If we will only have one football game for the next 10 or 20 years let's try to help EA make the best football game. I just think it's a waste of time, to continue to beg EA when they aren't going to give up the exclusivity, just accept it. I'm a big 2k5 fan, but we just have to face it EA runs this.
Have ye no shame? Whur's ur pride, son? The English.....oh crap (Braveheart flashback...sorry)...I mean EA..****ns nothing!!

damn, did they even add anything new this year?

Played a couple games. I'm nt really seeing the infinity engine that much. A bunch of times I see tackles where there is no wrap-up an he goes down like a sniper shot him. No real weight. Now I'm hearing about super lb's very disappointing if that's true.

In my opinion, this is hands down the best Madden gameplay ever. The commentary was 100 times better than any previous Madden (as was the entire presentation) and the crowd was simply amazing. Right now, I'd rate the game at 8 or 8.5 out of 10, but it might get better once I get my hands on the CCM. Madden is starting to get it right.
How so? When Madden 13 Producer Victor Lugo markets the infinity physics engine as something we've never seen, I better expect something I've never seen once the ball is kicked off. To tell you the truth, I've seen more of the physics happen when the players are on the ground which is SAD!

Backbreak Physics engine > Innovation
Madden's Infinity Physics Engine = traditional

Even though Backbreaker had it's faults, When I played the demo I can feel the physics once I made a tackle, block, or contact with a player on the field.

A odd thing about the crowd audio I just noticed... I was SF and the home crowd was way louder when I was on offense then when I was on defense, most noticeably during the 2nd half when I was up by 1 point.

The whole camera angle issue needs to be patched in this game;there is to much evidence to support this claim. It's all about match ups;and with the camera the way it is now you can't tell if your Tight end is covered by a defensiveback or a linebacker PRESNAP.Dose anyone understand that we should be able to see the opposing teams personnell threats PRESNAP," so we can adjust our play calling accordingly".However with the camera view the way it is now we can't because the VIEW limits our decision making presnap .Deciding if we should be leary of the opposing teams personnel or take advantage of the other teams personnel/match up is clearly a shot in the dark as it is now .Just boggles me that none of the gamechangers or devolpers ever notice this glarring problem.

NO PUN INTENDED

Die hard Madden fan I like the demo not in love and maybe that's what a demo is for....But I will wait on the retail copy to determined if its a buy...

I loved Madden 12 but the tackling on 13 is not sexy at all I hope....clumsy at best...

Please tell me the retail copy is better I'm hoping lol

# 617 cavsfan2 @ 08/14/12 08:44 PM
Why oh why did they bring back that awful "running in place when the the defender grabs the players hips until the ball carrier is pushed down." Not once have I seen that in a real football game

Since I skipped 12 madden 13 feels good wish it was a replay button to review plays.
Too much lag for a demo even froze up on me.

Like the player sizes and graphics

Lost on the whole dpi thing since I never played last yrs version I want to know what adjustments they made to it

Overall play feels more organic however you still get wtf play from time to time.

Times when I press y on Xbox as defender and never reacted.

Like the effect of grass popping up

Wish they had player lock camera on defense I like to play as secondary but can only play as safety with camera view now

Add a new camera view aka player lock

Need to fine tune kinetic it rarely picks up commands
There should be a list of. All the words it will pick up

Presentation fill smooth commentary is repetitive for demo
Is there still two catch buttons with holding of y for spectacular/possession catch or press y for regular catch

I'm really liking the new infinity engine!
The game looks great and plays great!
The commentary is much improved!
There are some odd movement of arms and legs as the plays end, but in general the game is different than years past which is a good thing!

My fav play so far:

The punt return man (cpu) juked my hit, bumped into his player lost his balance and fell down then got back up an ran a few more yards before being tackled. Awesome!
