I have played plenty of games and continue to look forward to the next ... even though the RTP was not added, you can definitely tell that there were some changes and progress made ... Its obviously not a physics engine but I have seen players get tackled and fall differently compared to 12

- I actually threw a pick while throwing across my body and a LBer intercepted the ball and fell backwards

- New catch animations are cool ... witnessed Wood at USC dive in the air and snag the ball with one hand before hitting the ground

- As another poster mentioned, the ball bouncing around seems more realistic ... tipped balls seem to have more realism to them as they are batted in the air and potentially picked by another player

- Ball trajectory is huge ... had a friend over the other night and he couldnt throw the fade to the back left endzone for the life of him ... dinked around with it only to realize that the QB had to turn that direction and get his feet set ... pretty obvious that footwork is another variable in the throwing mechanic ... if you really want to see how this works, play RG III in Heisman mode and run a screen pass and let the cpu drop back ... u will see him shuffle his feet at the end of his drop and facing the HB ... kinda cool to see ... I really like the new pump fake too ... check it out

- The disguised defense alignment seems to work on and off ... saw the cpu send a man in motion and my SS dropped back to his original position and the FS shifted up the line as the receiver came across to finish his motion

- LBers seem to play faster ... not as easy to pass to your TEs as it has in the past ... they react quick, maybe too fast on blitzes but I see this as a big plus as opposed to being exploited in passing mismatches

- Noticed on some replays of run plays that you see blockers double up on a defender ... and if you play as a D lineman, if you beat one lineman, there is a very good chance that you will get picked up by another ... cool seeing some pancake blocks and also watching a defensive lineman blow a blocker over every once in a while too

- Now that the read plays work, my current playbook can be expanded ... I have really found this to be a welcome addition as I can now open things up even more and add another dimension to my game

All in all I feel most of the things listed are minor tweaks but beneficial for replay value ... the read options not working last year limited what most people could do ... disappointing that it took a yr to get it working properly but its in there now and I am looking forward to playing with it ... passing to a spot will continue to take some practice and gone are some of the unrealistic throws and catches made in last year's games

Same thing just happened to me too. It was really odd

I am glad that punters now actually try for the coffin corner punt instead of just bombing it through the end zone.

OH MAN. I just got jacked. As a old punt returner now WR coach and K and P returner Coach I was just playing as USC picked punt return right and I caught it left brought it right and a Oregon player was trying to get an angle on me and one of my usc guys peel blocked him and sprung my return for a 72 yard punt return I did get caught at the 2 but it was fricken awesome. I saw the hit coming didnt know if it would happen and it did and I jumped out of my seat. MAN IM JACKED. GOOD TO SEE FINALLY. I wish I had it on tape. *LITTLE THINGS*

But i think the $45 deal on Amazon justified my purchase. If you have to pay $60+ then I can see why people would turn it down especially with what Madden is doing...
I'm still on the fence. Hopefully they will spend a minute to address some concerns that have been mentioned here that they might have received during their next webcast (I think they have one more). I didn't expect a complete overhaul and I can live without the physics engine that Madden is getting (being an early adopter can be a hazard) but they worked with the FIFA team to bring a much better stadium sounds experience and improved commentary flow and so on - none of that is evident in the demo and that has me real nervous.

I noticed that playing in Heisman challenge I am enjoying the game better ... u actually hear the LSU fans chant " L S U" which I believe could be one of those recordings that Haumiller talked about??

Also noticed that the sky changes when playing at USC with the sun setting in the background and yet it doesn't do this when outside of Heisman mode

Seems odd that this stuff doesn't match up in either game mode

Another thing I wanted to mention is that I have noticed much improved blocking all the way around ... as a previous poster mentioned, punt returns/kickoff returns have much better blocking ... also, linemen pull much faster and continue to work down the field further rather then peeling off early ... this was great as I ran a counter play and followed my lineman straight down field as he picked up the FS which resulted in a TD

Didn't read this whole thread but has anyone brought up that they may have added duplicate numbers?

Not that I care but I see threads on OS about people complaining in years past about not having them and just thought I would point this out.

In the demo the FS for USC is #7 and the QB is #7 aswell.

Had a weird GLITCH. Score was 9-8 Oregon (CPU) (me USC) and they kicked a FG before half, 0:02 left to go, so I get the kickoff, I am running and just for kicks I try to lateral the ball right before I get hit, my guy throws the ball sideways, it hits the ground (should be a fumble correct?) and the area where it says FUMBLE said PUNT. After HT, the score was now 11-8 lol. They got a safety but the ball was called dead soon as it hit the ground.

Anyone else?

I do like the passing changes. The punting near the goal line is phenomenal. My player jumped and threw the ball back in mid air. The gameplay is just different. The jury is still out for me until the I see the retail.

I never noticed this is past NCAAs, but has anyone else had a linebacker intercept the pass and fall straight backwards onto his back in the demo? I thought it looked pretty cool, definitely looked like a new animation.

One thing I noticed that is still abusable, Four Verts. Someone is always left wide open again for at least a second, giving you enough time to get a big gain.

Actually just seen woodsmall12 posted the same thing. Glad it's something others are seeing.

Also, like BamBam_db, I just saw my first "Illegal Touching" penalty. My receiver was coming back for a pass, for some reason cut and stepped out of bounds before I threw it to him and he got called for it.

man four verts is still a cheese play hahaha. it's usually the A button who is open just long enough for me to get it to him/

The passing is really fun this year. I see many Geno Smith to Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey connections in the future!!!!!

I wasn't originally sold on the demo, but I've been having a lot of fun with it lately (well, as much fun as one can have with a limited demo...). The passing is much better this year and, though there were no groundbreaking changes, the gameplay just seems better, though it's hard to quantify exactly why.

Playing the demo makes me feel like the game is a little better than I was expecting; however, this is still not a first day buy for me. I will be waiting a couple of weeks for the retail impressions to decide whether or not to buy it used; besides I typically wait for the rosters to be set prior to starting anything. One of the huge concerns I have now is with the passing; I can just see humans chosing a team with 99 speed and 99 acceleration receiver, no matter what the other ratings are and just throwing fades all day long. I know that this is on varsity setting, but it just seems really easy to lob a fade over the DB.

Every time.

You wait for him to get beside the linebacker covering him, give him a little floater and you're picking up AT LEAST 15 yards a play, 9 times out of 10 it seems it's a 30+ yard play that has a 75% chance to turn into a touchdown.

Crap, is four verts cheese again this year? I hadn't really tried it yet, but I HATED that last year.

4 Vertices is much less effective than last year, but it still works too well. Granted, this is on Varsity (I played mostly on Varsity last year and it is much less completed this year).

# 878 PowerofRed25 @ 06/10/12 12:27 AM
Well considering the CPU safety in Cover 2 does not continue to play his zone, any deep route is a pretty easy route. The safeties don't seem to acknowledge the widest-deepest rule and they seem to get caught flat footed a lot. I've dropped a ton of vertical, corner and post routes over coverage because no one picks the guy up after he leaves intermediate zones.

It's unfortunate.

I disagree with it being less effective than last year. I think it's even easier this year now that the receivers respond more to the "pointing" where you want your receiver to go.

That's one thing I've noticed. The CPU runs to the right and covers the far receiver almost every single time, leaving the guy in the middle wide open.
