Ah, the days of Wide Open Gameplay.

Also, I found the juke more effective in this game than it has been in the past.

Wait, if NCAA 11 was 10.5, NCAA 12 was 11.5, and 13 is 12.5, aren't we really just on 10.7?

We're actually on NCAA '98.15

If you're satisfied that THIS is what they were able to accomplishment within a development cycle then its time for a new team because other games improve much more in a year and this game has so many issues that still don't seem to get touched.
So, if the Infinity engine was added this year, would you feel differently?

I'm sure NHL 13 will look exactly the same as well and many people don't have a problem with it.

Seems like some NCAA video game fans want complete change to nearly everything every year and that's one of the reasons we get the "It's just NCAA 12.5" comments all the time. Football games have have had nearly the same playcalling screens since Tecmo Bowl in the 80's. Why change something that works?
The bold points is where your argument loses its merit. NHL (and I'll throw in The Show for baseball and NBA 2K for basketball) have consistently been some of the most refined and authentic sports games available. They don't need to reinvent the wheel every year because they had already perfected it. So they simply polish a few things up, add a feature here and there and call it new and it works because they've already got the basics perfected.

NCAA is not like that. NCAA has never been a perfected game and the closest it has ever come was about 6 years ago. In the case of NCAA 12, the game didn't work. That is why we all get on here expecting massive changes, because the NCAA series is not to the "refine and polish" stage, it is still at the "how do we get this right?" stage and that requires massive changes, not tiny little tweaks here and there and calling it new.

That is why people call it NCAA 12.5 and not in an endearing way.

For those who say the DT gets more pressure than DE, well just to test it out, I used USC's LE and broke the NCAA record for sacks, I had 8 in one game.. with this on varsity, it was simple but on harder settings with sliders, it will be harder but end in realistic stats.

Not to speak for Jersey who has his own feelings, but yes and no. Yes in that it would show a significant and necessary step forward which this series so desperately needs. But no in that I personally don't feel that is the first step that needed to be taken.

I am of the belief that atmosphere needed to come before technological advancements of gameplay. The animation system works well enough, the demo shows that as much. But the atmosphere is truly poor. Sound is poorly mixed and implemented and the experience as a whole needs to become more immersive. My worry is that the improvements they have claimed to atmosphere this year WERE that step and if that is the case, they truly failed.

But hey, we'll see right? The demo is a month old build, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to really make some significant cuts in the demo for memory purposes, it was already fairly large and took some people forever to download. I'm guessing things like 3D grass, final layers of graphics rendering and more extended sound mixes got pulled. I have more hope for success in NCAA 13 than I did for 12.

It still feels like there is still a delay between when I hit the pass button and when the action is pertformed like in ncaa 12. Also feels like they did very little work on OL/DL interaction. Primarily played coach mode last year so a.i. is more important to me than anything and the jury is still out. Also after seeing RTP in Madden it makes watching the NCAA tackles play out when I know that person is going down a little disheartening. Overall, looks to be an upgrade over 12' but still uncertain on purchase.

Case in point - in the "sights and sounds" webcast they promoted "a richer, louder, more robust and realistic crowd" in NCAA 13. Going by the demo, did they deliver on that?
This is what makes me afraid that we are going to be hoping for the best and reliving last year. I really hope not as I love this series but the demo does not inspire confidence.
Are you on Xbox? The crowd sounds pretty great on my stereo and they react to every thing happening on the field, even get excited when the receivers go for the catch and then if the defense breaks it up, they go awwwwww or yeahhhhhhh if the home team is on defense.

I get home tomorrow, so I can give the demo a try, but I'm pretty excited. This years gameplay and dynasty modes are the foundation that next years game will be built on with the improvements from Madden.

I really am excited about the off the field stuff, and I've been satisfied for the most part with the play on the field. The things they've fixed, such as super LBers has me excited.

I think have connected careers and RTP next year is going to take NCAAF to a hole new level. I'm disappointed they didn't make it in this year.

I'm really hoping that they get the export/import draft feature fixed, they further enhance the presentation, and they improve the environment again.

My biggest wish is they fix the play in the trenches. That's where the games are one and lost. In both games we need more emphasis on the ends and outside rushers and less on the buffet busters in the middle from a pass rush standpoint. Up the middle the run defense needs to be tougher.

I think the difficulty ratings should change as well. They should implement more of a system like NHL where they have a realistic setting. It would be more like Heisman minus the computer cheating, which would also mean they'd have to do a lot of improment to the AI.

I'd also like to see better online support for the games themselves, there is still too much lag for my liking in the kicking game.

I take back what I said about the HB Slip Screen. It results in sacks FAR too much for the AI QB once again.

There are brief moments where they seem to react properly, but as a whole the crowd still isn't right. As I stated earlier, in a tie game late in the 4th, the home team on D, the crowd is dead as the offense comes up to the line. The stadium should be rocking at this point, players should be having difficulty hearing the snap count.....in the demo it's absolutely dead. They got it right years ago, can't remember the version, when the crowd went crazy and the controller vibrated, this generation of NCAA has never gotten the crowd and atmosphere right, it's like they've never been to a game.

# 834 bigbob @ 06/08/12 10:04 PM
It feels extremely smooth, no super linebackers, no corners and safeties making superman interceptions.

The only thing I really have to complain about the demo is that the audio sometimes doesn't match what's going on. I threw a completion for 5-yards and they said something similar to "The defense really brought the pressure there and it worked out for them, they got an incompletion".

Hot Route a LB and have him QB Spy and the CPU panics either with a QB run or sack everytime!! EA... SMH

No, I'm on PS3....I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Let me put it another way - when you are playing as the home team and are on defense does the crowd get louder when you use the button that causes your player to waive his arms in the air to pump up the crowd? This was something that was sorely missing from '12 that worked fine on earlier versions and it's not working on the demo (for PS3, anyway).

Thanks.

So funny glitch, I go to OT with Baylor and KSU, I'm playing as Baylor.

I score on the first OT Drive
KSU scores on the second
KSU kicks a field goal on the third
KSU gets the ball again...ok, kicks a FG to win the game.

Never getting the ball in a second OT ftw! lol gotta love demo glitches.

I actually was running a zone play with alabama and the d over- pursued I actually was able to juke and cut back into that hole for some yards. Last year I don't remeber being able to do that. Something small that caught my eye so far.

Just finished playing a couple dynasty games and one Heisman game. I must say Im liking it so far. Overall the game is smooth and looks great. The Defense does react better and I haven't really felt cheated when they make plays. Everything works as it should for the most part. I did have issues with QB's getting off perfect passes while getting drilled and although the juke is effective everything else seemed to be ineffective. Still I had fun playing it, I even enjoyed heisman mode for what its worth. Reaction time was pretty cool and I was able to create some pretty cinematic moments. Definitely something that RTG could use to spice things up. Maybe have your player start with 0 reaction time and gradually gain seconds with good play, place a limit on seconds based on player experience and make it something that can be leveled up. Im excited that NCAA 13 plays so well because it makes me even more excited for madden, I might pick this up down the road but I think Madden will still be my first football game purchase this year.

Dead to me as well. I noticed it more at USC, that is a huge stadium and it was louder when I was on offense than it was on defense when Oregon was threatening.

The Bama-LSU game sounded better but I got some weird sound drop outs in that one. I meant to go back and try and isolate some of the sounds but just couldn't replicate it so I chalked it up to my surround sound.
