Finally played this demo and I'm pleasantly surprised after one game in heisman mode and one in dynasty. for me it played very different from last year right away I noticed how much better touch passes are. I couldn't really figure out the other directional passing stuff hopefully that will come with time, but just being able to put actual touch on passes instead of those rainbow throws is huge. Also I thought OL/DL looked improve still not where it needs to be, but better.

I think I've come full circle I started out being more interested in NCAA then when I heard about bullet time and a few other things I switched over to Madden, but now that we've heard they removed all customization from that game now I'm back on board with NCAA. before the demo I thought no football at all for me this year, I love to be wrong sometimes.

One big negative I still have to throw out though is not including teambuilder teams into the update/ticker package. that just ruins both features for me which look really good otherwise. I mean I get to see the FCS Southwest score but not the other teams in my own conference? really?

anyone find it really annoying when you would have a guy seemingly open, but at the last moment the db would warp in front of the wr real fast in make a play? it got on my nerves foreal

Just downloaded and played the demo. I haven't gone through all 100+ pages of this thread, so forgive me if it's already been said, but the demo has a lot of hiccups. (Framerate, I think all the cool kids call it.) It sure skips a lot. And this was a problem with the actual game last year.

Can someone break down what is new in this game? I don't really want to go through all 100 pages.

The presentation is nice but I didn't really notice anything new as far as gameplay goes.

The game seems almost identical to me

VERY preliminary impression based on one game played ...

* It seems like the post routes and seam routes that were cash money for me in NCAA '12 won't be so easy to complete this year. The CPU middle linebacker doesn't automatically blitz on third-and-long, leaving those routes wide open.

* I hardly fumbled in NCAA '12, but I had several in one playing of the demo. One fumble cost me in overtime after I had an amazing touchdown and 2-point conversion on the final play of regulation to force overtime.

The other thing about those middle linebacker plays is that it seems like the Cover 2 zone design got a little bit of a change. Any time I call a Cover 2 zone play and look at the play art view, it seems like the MLB's hook zone is way deeper than it used to be.

I've noticed the MLB gets a ton more depth than last year in zone so you've got to hold the post a beat longer to make sure your guy clears.

DBs are still psychic...even for me. My team picked one off that the DB never would have seen in time to catch IMO.

A lot of other routes seem to work that I never would have tried before.

Zone blitzes and DEs worked 50%ish of the time.

The computer still ran 10 HB screens and sometimes in really bad situations.

The AI for for Heisman challenge is awful. 4th & gl at one yd line. HB draw is called. Huge hole opens up and the RB runs right to it then cuts parallel to GL and runs straight into a defender who was being blocked.

I think slider sets will have to be a tad different from last year. Just my $0.02!

This has been bothering me and i thought that it would be a rare occurance, but I do not have much control of my defender! If i try to straffe and put myself in position to make an interception, my defender does not react! I have auto straffe and auto sprint off because I do not like the computer controlling what I do. But when I control my defender to try to defend the pass, they usually become badly out of place. In NCAA 12 this was not a problem at all. In fact in NCAA 12 the problem was that trying to user control the WR was inneffective. Now its the defender I guess.

End Rant.

I just got a touchdown on a punt return with Kansas State, and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Everything just lined up perfectly and I wasn't even touched by the defenders.

Only odd thing I've seen is all the games I've played so far have been low scoring. While it makes sense for the Bama-LSU games, a 17-7 K State-Baylor game and a 7-0 Oregon-USC game just seem odd to me. Maybe it's just because I'm much more of a defensive guy than an offensive.

This is exactly why NCAA 13 might be the game i play most this year.

I really don't understand what EA is doing with removing the editing ability in Madden 13 and also taking away Offline Franchise mode.

Atleast with NCAA 13 you still have the ability to fix some issues with gameplay that might be tied into ratings and you some what adjust things for the CPU to get better results during your Dynasty.

In Madden 13 it's like they (EA) are saying this is how it's going to be and you can't change a darn thing about it. If the CPU has screwed up depth charts oh well just role with it for this year.

Curl routes are almost unstoppable. I know it is an easy setting but still worries me.

I already posted my impression above but does anyone know what build the demo is? Alpha/Beta/etc? Just wondering cause I have played a bunch of game on demo and I like the game but didn't know if they intended to add any other new features before release.

Worries me as well. It is easy money. The DB's give a TON of cushion in man and in zone, no one drifts back to cover the curl.

I posted it right after you posted yours, lol.

Are you using a small, standard TV? Apparently, if you don't have an HD TV, the ticker won't show up for you.

The more I play the demo, the more impressed I am by how smooth everything feels. I know NCAA doesn't have the Infinity Engine, but the devs definitely did some tweaking with the animations, as I'm seeing all sorts of cool new stumbles, tackles, etc. On top of that, the added pass trajectories and catching animations are simply fantastic.

The game is playing wonderfully so far, IMO. I'm very excited for release.

I've been playing the demo a lot. I'm getting better with the passing game. I've gotten to the point where I can no longer play NCAA 12. I about broke my controller last night because of how cheap the passing game is. The new passing system is awesome. I can't wait for NCAA 13 to come out so I can stop playing NCAA 12.

Looks like CPU quarterbacks still don't get called for 'Intentional Grounding'. I've seen it twice so far as soon as the ball is snapped and it hasn't been called.
