For the first time in franchise history, familiar faces are now on the field in NCAA Football 13, where fans can build a national powerhouse by placing one of 10 former Heisman Trophy winners on the team of their choice for the upcoming NCAA season. Under center, in the backfield, or split wide, utilize a Legend’s skill set in the quest to win the Heisman Trophy. Video interviews with each Heisman Trophy winner will be unlocked throughout the season, detailing the achievements of their glory days. In addition, fans can truly test themselves by matching their Heisman Legend’s historical performance in one season, which will not only win the Heisman Trophy, but also unlock each player in Road to Glory.

** Available through NCAA Football 13 pre-order from GameStop.

REACTION TIME

The new Reaction Time feature allows players to experience what it’s like on the field as a true Heisman Trophy-caliber athlete. Reaction Time literally slows down the action, allowing users to look for openings in defenses and perform skill moves to get into the open field, before smoothly transitioning back to regular speed. Gameplay has also been enhanced to include special teams and an updated playcall system.

No worries I'm done posting on this subject. I was afraid this would happen.

Please. Some company. Any company. Get rights to make a college football game. What EA has does to this series on the current gen consoles, is beyond revolting. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
NCAA and ea exclusive rights is over. It's a matter if any comPany willing to the resource in to make a college game. NCAA license fee permission from each team and copy right usage developing a lot of the stadium. A very monumental task. Knowing 2k they would not do a half *** job. It would probably be a 3 ear project and the big question is would they make a profit after all that

This mode is a complete waste of time to me. Initially I thought they were saying you could bring in a Heisman player to play his last year of college and then continue on with your dynasty. I was thinking of having Doug Flutie as the only good player on an otherwise terrible teambuilder team from Boston, but one and done is just time that takes away from my dynasty career

There's a lot about Heisman Challenge that I like. In many ways, similar to the Jordan Challenge of NBA 2K11. I would rather have seen the players on their actual in the actual year they won the Heisman, going up against the actual teams they played on the schedule, but my guess is that with the Sam Keller lawsuit, that would've been too difficult to pull off without securing naming rights for all of those players and that would've cost too much money.

Still, it's something I can see myself checking out.

After playing their MLB series, I'd beg to differ.

Anyway, an NCAA game is a HUGE undertaking and it'd take a few years to get a new college game up to where EA is now, I'm thinking 5 years, in which time they'd be purging money. Especially with all the stadiums and people wanting jersey's, helmets and cleats 100% correct. I have a feeling we won't be seeing another *quality* NCAA college football game from anyone other than EA for quite some time.

I don't much mind it. Long as it isn't a Mass Effect 3-esque "you have to play this mode to get the full benefit of the game" type deal, I'm quite content sticking with the game modes I usually play --- Dynasty and Play Now.

I'm looking forward to trying out the QBs first. Put Flutie on Notre Dame, Charlie Ward on Oregon, not sure where I'd try Plunkett or Ware at (probably some Air Raid or Run & Shoot school). Would also be a good way to try out the RB position (never done it in RTG before). Put Barry on Texas and maybe Archie Griffin on Michigan.

I'm going to put Barry Sanders on Kansas. Maybe I'll be able to squeak out 5 wins.....

Madden will ALWAYS have more accurate equipment and player models.
Ok. Let's take your argument to the teams that NCAA does have a license to. Florida has blue cleats... Wrong! Washington doesn't have a gold trim on their purple uni's... Wrong! Last year the hype was about getting ASU's new uni's in but they forgot to make them a member of the PAC-12 with the missing patches that everybody else had even the two new members CU and Utah! This may seem simple to you and a cosmetic oversite but to the fan of that particular team.... They got screwed! What's even more disturbing is that teams like Florida and UW have history in CFB of being relevant ie Nat'l championships but EA still gets them wrong.... Really! After you buy this years game turn the box around to see who's license they have!

This is exactly what I was thinking.

If i do buy this game, i'll try my best navigate my gamepad away from this mode.

Pointless waste of disc space.

I used to get bent out of shape about these things and rant and rave. But honestly...I've completely given up on EA football games in this generation. Hopefully next generation they'll give us our money's worth.

I didn't read all the posts prior to this...but am I the only person who made this correlation: if the guy playing the demo is terrible and that's who's showcasing the game, doesn't that go against actually making the game better?

I don't know...just a thought.

I know because i created the same exact gear for Walker back in NCAA 11

Scroll all the way to the next to last post you'll see Walker's Picture i posted of him in NCAA 11 the exact same gear EA has in NCAA 13 for him.

Even for their Desmond Howard version i agree with both almost identical

EA's version of Desmond Howard's gear

My version of Desmond Howard's gear

The only thing again that i have a problem with is their willingness to give all players 100 overall ratings not their gear.

Don't let the door hit you guys on the way out! Why keep posting if you already said 43 times "I'm not buying this year" "not a buy for me" blah blah blah man.
If THAT is the issue you choose to make a point about NBA2k, then I think they're doing pretty darn well.

I see your point, but I think you're missing a key element here. This isn't a classic team mode where they are trying to recreate a whole team from the past. The point of this is to bring classic Heisman winners to the present day. If (for example) Andre Ware's in-game helmet, facemask, equipment and jersey sleeves were all 100% accurate he would stick out like a sore thumb on a 2012 football field. "Dude, what's with those giant shoulder pads?"

With the older guys (10+ years ago), getting the basic physical proportions right is good enough imo.

I think Reaction time needs a tweak. I haven't played with it yet, obviously, but from the live demo it doesn't do very much. Everything just slows down, including your player. I'm going to be able to do the same things I could before I hit LT, just at a slower pace. Makes the game longer with no REAL advantage. I also think it should be something you unlock. The third string true freshman RB shouldn't have the game slow down for him. If anything it should seem faster.

# 217 Broncos86 @ 05/30/12 06:41 PM
Thank goodness I don't care about this mode. Because this is just face palm worthy.

I think it's only for use for the Heisman guys in the Heisman Challenge and RTG. I don't think it goes into Dynasty so you wouldn't be using a third string True Freshman.

I have to say that I have arrived at a point in my life that I never thought I'd come to. I actually don't care about how bad this game is going to be (in relation to progressive development that is). This is NCAA 11.3 and for some reason, I'm not even mad about it. I remember being "giddy" at screenshots, videos, and any sliver of news about my favorite video game franchise. That's all gone now. I've gone through the stages of grief: denial, rage, etc and now I'm at acceptance.

I accept that in this generation there will never be an awesome version of NCAA or Madden. I accept that engine is broken. I accept bugs. I accept poor defensive line play. I accept lackluster audio and full immersion. I accept that I'll still buy it and not even worry about the fact that I traded in last year's version, NBA 2K12, and WWE12 to get it for $20. I accept that I'll be there at 12am or 10am to pick it up to play for hours on end.

However...if Playstation Orbis or whatever they're going to name it comes at us with this same effort, I'll be out forever. I'm 31 with two kids and I'm perfectly fine doing something else with my time.
