For the first time in franchise history, familiar faces are now on the field in NCAA Football 13, where fans can build a national powerhouse by placing one of 10 former Heisman Trophy winners on the team of their choice for the upcoming NCAA season. Under center, in the backfield, or split wide, utilize a Legend’s skill set in the quest to win the Heisman Trophy. Video interviews with each Heisman Trophy winner will be unlocked throughout the season, detailing the achievements of their glory days. In addition, fans can truly test themselves by matching their Heisman Legend’s historical performance in one season, which will not only win the Heisman Trophy, but also unlock each player in Road to Glory.

Heisman Legends include:
  • Marcus Allen– 1981 Heisman Trophy recipient, University of Southern California
  • Doug Flutie– 1984 Heisman Trophy recipient, Boston College

  • ** Mark Ingram – 2009 Heisman Trophy recipient, University of Alabama
  • ** Matt Leinart – 2004 Heisman Trophy recipient, University of Southern California
  • ** Tim Tebow – 2007 Heisman Trophy recipient, University of Florida
* Available through the NCAA Football 13 demo download.

** Available through NCAA Football 13 pre-order from GameStop.

REACTION TIME

The new Reaction Time feature allows players to experience what it’s like on the field as a true Heisman Trophy-caliber athlete. Reaction Time literally slows down the action, allowing users to look for openings in defenses and perform skill moves to get into the open field, before smoothly transitioning back to regular speed. Gameplay has also been enhanced to include special teams and an updated playcall system.

Discuss.

In RTG... You start out as a true freshmen, and maybe 3rd string depending on what school you go to. Either way, true freshmen shouldn't have that ability.

It's only for the Heisman guys you import. Like Barry Sanders and Desmond Howard. I don't think it's for just guys you created, but I could be wrong here.

The third string true freshman RB shouldn't have the game slow down for him. If anything it should seem faster.
Exactly every single time he used in the video it did absolutely nothing for him those plays would have turned out the same without it

So sick of people calling developers lazy, how many games have you developed in your lifetime? People have NO idea how much work it is to develop these games. Go tweet one of the developers if you want something to get done. Just because your favorite facemask, sock, or glove, isn't in the game does not make the developers lazy.

And if they had?

"What the Hell are you doing wasting time on a facemask no one has worn in 20 years just for one guy in a game mode no one cares about anyway?"

Might be. He said it's only for the single player modes like Heisman Challenge and RTG. I assumed it was for all of RTG, and not just the imported Heisman players.

well they can only use the gear that is actually in the game.

I agree they are lazy at times when it comes to updating uniforms and gear.

Which is why i've always said if they just buckled down and rolled up their sleeves and gave us authentic gameplay improvements this year not too many people would really complain about the gear or uniforms after awhile once they see the game in motion.

I know for me personally having the CPU finally play a like a legitimate person on the field would be a huge step in the right direction.

If i see Desmod Howard duplicate some moves on the field that he did while playing i'm not going to flinch one bit at the uniforms or gear. I'm going to jump out of my seat watching him return a punt for a TD on his own.

Those are little things that have been missing from this series for the last few years a CPU AI that acts like it has a brain of it's own.

I would suppose that this game mode will be interesting for some, but I will never use it.

This I agree! It doesn't make them lazy it just makes them oblivious! You can have a guy taking a test for physiology exam, studies like crazy but picked up the biology book to study from and fails the exam! Not lazy, just oblivious! We're all watching the game that they "chose" to create so why is it that they have a different set of eyes than we do? Why is it that year after year things are being pointed out to them about gameplay, about equipment, etc but yet they keep coming up short! If this were a final exam and this grade depended on them graduating do you think their professor would give them a passing grade based on the subject (football) that's being taught?

I'm thinking of taking Barry to my auburn tigers for 4yrs......d.Howard back to Michigan for a 4yr term.....O I can have fun with any game after 30yrs of gaming.....love not being the hardcore a d d Guy....

This mode (Heisman) is ok....Mascot teams is still the worst feature in the game IMO.

They could use those teams to house all classic teams and just give us the ability the edit player names and ratings to our liking.

I'm taking RGIII to the MAC and going to dominate with Eastern Michigan.

This isn't for me, but given that the fixing of the quicksand QB read option flaw, pass trajectories, catch animations, read and react defense, the changes to recruiting, were all for me, I can not in all good conscious, throw a hissy fit about the inclusion of this mode.

The mere existence of bullet time does make me though.

If (for example) Andre Ware's in-game helmet, facemask, equipment and jersey sleeves were all 100% accurate he would stick out like a sore thumb on a 2012 football field. "Dude, what's with those giant shoulder pads?"

With the older guys (10+ years ago), getting the basic physical proportions right is good enough imo.

As for me, I know I played NBA2K a LOT more because of that superstar mode where you had goals set for players and had to meet them to unlock achievements and although I'm not sure this mode will be that addictive it certainly looks like it has the potential to be.
O, I'm going to have to disagree with you man. That is correct that consumers liked the 2k classic players mode. Thing is, 2k actually took the time out to model the players and equipment to reflect the era. The 2k players probably even have signature moves for these classic players. You can tell that attention to detail was adhered to in NBA2k.

What I'm seeing here is nothing special at all. Where's the retro equipment, where's the improved player movement (atrocious turntable movement is still there) so that Barry Sanders can shake defenders out of their shoes just like he did in real life? Nowhere to be found. The absolute only thing thats going to be unique about these players are their faces my man. Come on now.

I know you're a fanatic about attention to detail also man. You're really giving them a pass on this ****?

This team puts resources in the completely WRONG places. This is obvious at this point in time. Sheesh, how many story modes are you going to have. You already have RTG.....You have dynasty mode....now you're putting in Heisman mode? Are they serious? Thats why each mode is half done, the devs attention is scattered all over the friggin place!!!

You even heard it multiple times throughout the broadcast, "we tweaked play call logic so they'll run the ball more for Barry Sanders", WHAT??!! So all of these years you refused to tweak logic within dynasty mode but all of a sudden your fixing things for Heisman mode? The logic and A.I. have been needing an upgrade since this game hit current generation!! I'll also bet money that its not even fully done correctly. Know why, because the other half of the team is somewhere working on dynasty mode, and the other guys are scattered somewhere working on RTG.

Merge that **** into one dynasty/story mode and focus your resources on that. I don't know man, I don't think these guys are very adept at managing their manpower brother. This new mode is just unnecessary, there's NO WAY around that.

Man is it E3 yet???

I really hope NCAA is getting the goodies that Madden is getting

Im ready for some raw in depth gameplay footage....because all this fluff stuff does nothing for me...

I hope Im feeling much better about this game after E3

Awesome! This just may have been the slap in the face I needed to stay away from the game completely this year.

At some point, it becomes a matter of pride. Between the annual hype-fest, the subsequent disappointment, claims of fixes to persistent issues, finding out those claims were bogus, the gimmicks and the demeanor of the EAGCs (among other "in-the-know" types) I guess I'm just gonna have to bring myself to the realization that EA has no interest in making the NCAA Football title that I'D like to see.
